Q:

Is it working as intended? Quotes from wiki:

" This effect is overridden by any other food consumable and players will not receive the effect if they are already under the effects of a food. The Sugar Rush lasts 30 seconds and prevents the player from picking up other birthday cakes on the ground."

Seens pointless for me, so I was thinking if this is really working as intended or if it is a bug. Can any dev awnser for me? Thank you.

Imagine if you’re using a 30+ silver food buff and you walk over the cake losing it.

It’s almost certain it’s intentional. It’s a good food, and an infinite, sharable supply, but it is not what everyone wants to be using all the time. It’s more of a “well, if you aren’t already using food, have some!”

Still, is very strange. I was in a teq fight and decided to get the buffs, But I couldn’t, because I was over the effect of a food that still had 25min left.

I yet think it seens more like a bug, since the nourshment don’t states that it will be lost/ungetable

Think of it like this. In WvW we use some pretty expensive foods. All it would take is one troll running in the zerg shooting this birthday buff out and causing us to lose the effects of the food we want to be using in place of that given by the buff. Its got to be working as Intended.

I’m a bit surprised they didn’t make it work like the Feasts though. Throw the cake on the ground. If people want it or want to override their existing food, they just run up to it and press F. If they don’t want it and want to keep their existing buff, they don’t.

What I mean here is : If this nourishment already have a different icon, shouldn’t it be usable along (together) with other foods? Just like guild banket food? (Same nourshment icon). That is how I think it worked tbh. Seens a little powerful, but its a 2-years gift anyway.

Would cause to much power creep, and a few builds are already cheese enough. However I use mine in place of regular food in PvE land before boss fights and if doing some farming. Once I enter into WvW though it gets a bit more real so I want the best i can get. Yes stacking with normal food might be nice, but a permanent 10 minute buff for events is IMO a VERY nice 2nd birthday gift even without the ability to stack it.

The blessing consumables you get from the Wayfarer Foothills heart merchants have unique icons, but count as primary nourishment and override/are overridden by food. It’s not the icon, but the classification.
