Be nice to the devs
I dunno, you know what, if the initial appeal doesn’t suit then try this:
Personal attacks, attacks on character, implications of all sorts of things . . . they won’t bring the devs or anyone else to the table to talk about what you want to talk about. They’ll want to tell you to cut it out, and they’ll be much less inclined to listen to your take on the mess.
It’s even more important to restrain yourself when you players feeling slighted by this take it personally and are emotionally affected. It isn’t easy, but if you want to get their attention in a positive manner . . . this is not the best way.
You can say you think they lied, you can say you feel they betrayed your trust, you can say you are very dissatisfied and need to know why. You can, I’m actually curious what they’ll say myself if they answer.
But mature and reasonable people don’t behave that way.
(Umm.)
. . . but mature and reasonable people shouldn’t behave that way.
The reality is that they don’t really need to do more than they should, because they’ve got their $60 bucks; that’s mission accomplished.
And this is why they’ve always promise things in vague tones during the beta phase. – Clap Anet -. Who’s your marketing director? Some guy they sent over from NCsoft? It was all well designed; make the perception that you guys have what the player wants, make people try it, and then you got them on the hooks for their money.
Strip this game from all the pretty graphics… and I’m not sure what’s it got left. Too bad there are so many players that don’t see this… (especially the casuals, they seem to think that rating a video game as good is all about having nice & soft visual gameplay instead of actually playing something with intrigued gameplay).
I’ve always said this; the one complaint about Anet as a company is not how they made their games, but it’s how they’ve managed their public relationship & the methods they took to earn their money; using manipulation of casual MMO players psyche.
It’s morally pathetic.

I see so many people trash talking the developers over ascended gear, saying they are terrible people and blah blah. But the truth is, despite my extreme disdain for where GW2’s future is headed, I feel no differently about the developers. Because, truth be told, I have a hard time believing any of this fiasco was the decision of any arenanet developer.
Developer is a broad term in the context you are using it. The programmers did not make the decision, but someone DID. The Lead Game Designer (was Eric Flanumm, guy talking with Colin Johansen in video a few months back about end-game ) I believe he has left the company as it appears someone else now has that title and we haven’t heard from Eric in months. The developers are responsible for this change, but you’re right it was probably a select few at the top who made the decision. There are probably many inside ArenaNet who hate this decision. Perhaps Flanumm even left over it. Who knows. They don’t want to talk about the internal process that was used to get us here.
Why should we be nice? They promised a unique MMO, a gamechanger, and within 3months made a 180, completely ruining this games future,
Game was far from perfect, but atleast the majority of players were in the world, now everyone just stands in LA and spams LFG FOTM LVLX
We have the right to be unhappy, Greed needs to stop stomping on innovation

You should be polite and mature because you expect to be treated like an adult and given honest responses. Say what you will about the game, about how unhappy you are but a little civility and courtesy isn’t beneath anyone here.
I would not walk up to someone on the street I disagreed with and go: “Hey Congressman, what the heck man, you said we’d get new jobs and instead companies moved out of state! You’re a liar and a phony!”

Actually, I have, and I would do it again. They work for us, but they forget it. I won’t let them forget it.
Gotta agree with the OP.
I disagree with the direction they are taking but attacking the Dev’s solves nothing. I have to believe that whoever made the new direction decision made it in good faith and that they believed that it was the right direction to take the game.
I don’t agree, but that’s no reason to get personal with the Dev’s, they are either just doing what they are told (worst case) or what they believe to be for the best for the game (best case). Either way … people need to remain polite when giving feedback.

The ArenaNet dev team for Guild Wars 2, however, does not work for you.
And in neither case do they “need” to be treated any less polite than you would wish to be treated.
Did I say impolite? I just let people spot platitudes without challenging them.
From a dev’s perspective (not for ANet so don’t lynch me) I somewhat disagree with what it’s said above. Indeed there is a problem with this game but the people to blame are not the developers. I’d rather blame the people who are a few levels above them in the hierarchy and who call the shots. You can’t really blame someone that implements what he/she’s told, buggy or not. So the devs no, but the management gets a +1 from me on this.
No way
I bought this game because i trusted Anet name despite NCsoft logo near them…..
They earned respect for their ethic and stuff with GW1
And don t say they didn t use that respect toboost sales….their whoel campaign was based on that with names and faces making promises.
I now lost all respect i had in them in the same way…
You profit if you do something good and you have to be blamed if you dosomething wrong..
If someoene is forcing you, then leave the project if you want to save your reputation….otherwise you are ust an accomplice and you doesn t deserve to be treated no better than you treated your faithful fans and customers….
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
can people outside USA/EU get refund from ANET if they purchase using credit card ?
They seem to be very good at giving refunds if you have not hit the 6 month cap.

No they don’t. IMO they are working folks just like the rest of us. They have bosses that make demands, just like the rest of us. It is much easier for me to drop a $60 game if i disagree with it’s direction, than it is for a dev to drop a $80k a year job for the same reason.
I don’t use the game to feed my family.
Let’s all the nice to the people who sold us a game that they are not delivering, as consumers let our favourite lying company walk all over us, let’s not let it get personal guys – the manifesto only sold the game to us on an emotional level using developers instead of actors to sell the game. Sounds good!
I do agree that attacking the middle-men and programmers is pointless, you dont blame the cashier if the supermarket has ran out of your favourite soft drink do you? But as someone mentioned, SOMEONE has made these decisions, so lets be angry about it!

If you are basing who they work for on who pays them, then, ultimately they work for the customers. We are the customers and without our continued support – they won’t have jobs anymore so… they work for us; however, the only control we have on them is money and bad word of mouth.
With the addition of the new and better gear they have essentially lied to us and I am not often nice to people who lie to me. The devs lied about gear progression, about being forced into a style of play (dungeons for gear progression) and about being able to get the best of anything in my preferred play style (WvW). Those were all big selling points for me, and I wager a large number of other players, and those are all gone now.
So be civil and constructive but nice – no they don’t deserve that right now.
The lack of a PTS shows. The lack of the GW1 devs shows. The presence of NCSoft (loathsome pile of “stuff” that they are), shows.
Add the first two items and remove the 3rd. There we go, fixed.
I’m pretty sure it’s not the Devs’ fault.
