I just saw a guy whose bear was named “Disguised Chicken” Lmao. That’s the best name I’ve seen!

There are some threads about best character names, but I haven’t seen any related to pet names!

A guildie had a black moa in GW1 and GW2 named Rocky Balmoa.

Every now and then when I’m bored I’ll run around with a blue moa, Alex, and a white moa named Ash; a bear named Mark, and a tiger named Tony. Here’s hoping we get a zebra pet one of these days!

All my pets names are peeve. Why? Because I click stow and when ever something hurts me like getting hit from a mob or the slightest stumble, out comes my pet roaring its ugly head which makes this my pet peeve since I wanted it stowed in the first place.

I like my pig as a pet, but Smidvarg as a name.

I’ve seen a “Juvenile Delinquent”, but I don’t remember for which pet it was.

I like my own pet names, but I rather liked the Fire Drake I saw the other day named B Smaug

It’s an old one but I saw a ranger with a moa named Im with Stupid

I use that name for an arctodus. I’m assuming I’m not the only one who came up with that name so you probably saw someone else’s pet.

What’s funny is, I occasionally get whispers asking me where to tame a delinquent.

And various ravens called Quoth, which I like to assume is always a Discworld reference. Then one called Paraphrase.

My two pets are named “Rekt” and “She beats me”.

I love it when rangers name their wolf as Fenton.

I miss pet pandas.

In GW1 I had one called Robert Smith on my PvP character and it got some great reactions. Especially when I found myself on the opposite team to someone with a Hound of Balthazar called Streisand.

I miss the silly things that used to happen in Fort Aspenwood, especially when everyone realised the match was so full of bots it wasn’t worth taking seriously. (Not that having a match full of bots was a good thing, but we made the best of it.)

Quoth is a reference to Edgar Allen Poe’s poem called “The Raven”. Which is also what the new staff “Nevermore” is based on (hence why it has become a more popular name since release of HoT). It’s also the name of my raven too.

Think my fav pet’s name is Puff the Magic Dragon… guess what it was.

Edgar Allan Poe fans doubt that it’s a discworld reference.

My smokescale is named Bath Salts, and a guildie has something named Kylo [Ren] (being our guild affix)

I’m well aware of the poem The Raven.

But the raven in the poem isn’t actually called Quoth, whereas the one in Discworld is (which is itself a reference to the one in the poem), and is probably in my top ten favourite Discworld characters, which is saying something.

But that’s why I said I like to assume it’s a Discworld reference. I haven’t asked everyone using it where they got the name from and there are huge numbers of references to that poem. (Which then lead to people associating ravens with the words quoth and nevermore without even knowing why.) I don’t actually have any idea if they’re referencing the poem or Discworld or the Simpsons Halloween Special or what.

I gave up naming my pets because whenever you changed either one out, you lost the name.

I’ve posted before about this issue and Anet still has not addressed the problem. When I name a pet a particular name, I don’t want it to go missing if I should swap him out for another only to lose the name in the process.

Pain to have to constantly rename them when you re-equip any that had names before.

I’ve got to get my Charr ranger a fire wyvern so I can name it…Charrizard.

If someone is referencing the Simpsons special, then they are referencing the poem, as it was a reading of the poem.

I’m personally not familiar with Discworld. My first thought was the Poe poem. It was clever the first time I saw it. Now it’s not so much.

I laughed out loud the other day while standing around waiting for the Maw to start – saw a Ranger by the name of Blame it on the Pet and the pet’s name was " I Didn’t Do It".

Do I get any credit/ lol for naming my Rainbow Jellyfish “Rainbow Dash”?
