I don’t think it is a grave issue. But I do think its a bad precedent.
Again, to me, it is really similar to the Watchwork Mining Pick case: a marginal but objective advantage tied to hard cash mechanics.

theres no advantage. it doesnt give you an item. it literally gives you a 10 foot platform with the sun blinding you, and a pretty tree to stare at. thats literally it. its nothing, physically, different than any other scenic spot in the game except this one is exclusive, which really doesnt matter because its not even that godkitten pretty. its actually kind of boring. even the grotto in the grove is prettier. who gives a kitten about a boring rock you can sit at? theres nothing there! it doesnt give you a buff or a stat advantage or ANYTHING

Gives you easy, mob free access to almost any point in the map.

I can’t see any problem with this one to complain about really..

It’s just a place high up in the mountain.

Mayyyybe it’s give some adventage that you can glide down from that but did you really need it to complete the map ? No right ?

You can’t explore the Royal terrace, The airship, the lava lounge or the noble’s folly without paying for it. For some reason though that’s not causing threads showing up to say they are slippery slopes. Why does ledge and a tree cause a problem where a place stocked full of conveniences behind a paywall doesn’t?

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

For one you can buy those without having to gamble right?
And you have just as much convenience in la

Third as other have stated if this goes well whats next?

They are both locked behind money. How much may be variable but it’s cash/gold either way so it’s a difference in degree not a difference in kind.

It’s been going on for years now. Why haven’t people complained about price walls and locked off portions of the map causing a slippery slope for the previous sites?

It seems the lamentations about Black Lion Chests are either, ‘There is nothing of value in the Chests’ or ‘There is something of value in the Chest, take it out!’. /smh

1- “Forced” RNG. If you want the convenience, you are forced to participate in a gamble. Gamble is not good. Gamble is considered a misdemeanor which require tight control on most countries. This is “If you dont want RNG, f*** off.”

2- As far as I know, only the Havoc’s Heir gives you any advantage to explore a map, and its a fairly irrelevant one, because Gendarran Fields doesn’t offer any difficulty to exploration. I don’t really know the case of Lava Lounge, so I could be wrong.

Gendarren fields gives you a nice long glide and the ability to reach parts of the map you can’t get to otherwise, the tops of the hills east of the airship.

When they introduced the first portal scroll people were all for it. After the crafting stations were removed from wvw, people complained about being “forced” to buy these scrolls or teleport out of an instance to LA, people complained there weren’t crafting areas close to the HOT maps…Anet introduced Noble Folley, then it was “enough with the gem bought scrolls”. With BSF a player was able to purchase a scroll with unbound magic, the response was “my bank is full of scrolls, WHY so many Anet?”.

Note that all of the new maps were accessible without scrolls, no one was forced to buy them, but did anyway because they didn’t want to repeat the story on a different character or perhaps didnt have a friend to teleport to.

Anyway, with this new map, and this quote unquote scroll…the area you get sent to with this scroll only really allows you to bypass the story to access the area. It’s no different than a permanent teleport to friend, except there is no friend waiting there unless the tree is a friend (I call him Spence, but I digress). One is not forced to gamble for its acquisition, and there really isn’t any unfair areas you can reach if you possess this item, there are no repair/bank/vendor/WPs/Nodes/or otherwise perks to possessing this item, it’s just a cool way to get your alts to the new map and STILL people found a way to complain about it…

I think that people are overlooking the real issue here. Why is that tree, deciduous as it is, in bloom in that environment, at that altitude.

Is this a sign of Mordremoth’s return?

Is this a new Pale tree incubating?

Faolain or Caithe, or even (gasp) Trahearne returning from the dead?

I’m not sure if someone already asked this, but have you tried teleporting to friend? Didn’t want to read forty miles of text, so give it a go.

There are living vines encased in ice inside the second boss cave. I think its safe to say something is definitely happening physically to jormag.

It does work. My friend teleported to me with one.
