Is it just me or was the black border arround the screen removed??, I have a screenshot from november 15 that still has the black border, I was just playing and realized it’s gone now, finally. Can’t find anything in the patch notes.

I never had any kind of black border so not sure what you’re talking about. I have screenshots from all the way back in early access.

You clearly never paid attention then. The game had a subtle black border for the past 3 years. It is definitely gone now.

You know I actually didn’t notice until you mentioned it but you’re right, the borders have disappeared. I wonder if it was intended. Going by screenshot dates, they seem to have disappeared between November 15 and 18.

oh, that? that was removed due to “Visual Noise”. see, ArenaNet felt that this border was making it very difficult for spectators to see what was going on during sPvP matches. ^-^

Might be it help memory leak issues.

The latest patch notes indicated memory usage was reduced for 32-bit clients. Perhaps the border was removed in that patch as part of the reduction?

This “border” use less than the memory required to render your character’s eyes.

It depends on how it’s being rendered.

Besides, if the new maps are maxing out 32-bit address space any amount that can be trimmed without changing the way the game works is good. Not having any eyes would be a lot more distracting than a missing window adornment.

It’s gone. I’m using the 64-bit client.

The loading screens still have their borders but those are just part of the image.

good, never liked the border anyway, got a bit claustrophobic with it.
