And yes, I can totally see how this could feels sexist…

I dunno…how many pink quagans do you see in the game? The way I see it, you can buy the common types which just so happen to be blue. Now if it was a yellow quagan instead of a pink one, would you feel it less sexist? Maybe, but pink is probably cuter.

well, thats why he/she feels that way. Quaggans Blue colour is a common thing. All Quaggans are blue.

So that it’s a pink colour is actually a rare thing. Which is totally normal.
Just typically people don’t like the idea of something not being accessible.

Personally don’t mind it, i prefer a charr plush back =s

I think there’s quaggans on Trading post aswel, that is if you want it that badly,
on 80 if you take a couple hours of farming 35G should be easily accessible.
I can’t check the prices personally, but that’s what i gathered from the BLTC post.

Brainwashing works. Ask most boys what their favorite color is and it’s blue! A girl the same question and it’s pink! I wonder why?

Now if they thought about it more deeply and accurately, I think there are two answers that would average higher than blue or pink. They would be either:

1. I don’t have a favorite color, I don’t need to play favorites with colors, they are just colors.

2. Or Black. When I look at what color people gravitate more to unconsciously vs brainwashing… I see they tend to prefer Black. What’s worth more in the Trading Post? Blue, Pink or Black?

So why in the question of Fav color, is black omitted? I played that game with my son not so long ago, he answered blue, I told him he was wrong, he looked at me “How can you say that I’m wrong on such a thing?”. I then pointed to all the things around him, much more black and very little blue. Then I asked him why does one need a favorite color? He then went into deep thought…

But Blue and Pink from the crib baby!!! System rules.

Probably, since black isn’t a official colour and goes with everything it’s probably something people enjoy, but a black quaggan wouln’t look as good i think, vibrant colours work well with them.

Who is thee authority on official colors? In my westernized world, it is Crayola and they have black listed as one. My words go beyond Quaggan backpacks and into generalizations.

Any official physics book will cover me up, also it’s not a Hue colour.

That it’s listed as a colour is a different thing, whatever you want to think about it is up to you.

I can go even deeper into the subject like the fact it absorbs all the light but then i’d be going to far offtopic.

Ok, I will surrender at your physics level knowledge. I think for more us simpletons we do list Black as a color, it’s also a color choice in the subject GW2. If you don’t agree with that, then we will not be able to agree on this one. To me Black is a color in GW2. And I do list white and black as colors in my world, right or wrong.

Well, i didn’t say you were wrong, it’s just that a completely black or white character isn’t as unique as having a vibrant color with it.
Since when you open paint and make a picture out of something and just remove the red/green/blue you’d get a black picture or in fact raise it to the maximum you’d get white.

So then again! I never said it was a bad thing to mix something with certain white or black.

Sorry, I can absolutely understand if you wnat easier access to your pink Quaggan backpack, but PLEASE don’t throw me in with you – I’m a lady and I abhorr pink.
Alas, not all ladies have difficulties getting ‘their’ quaggan backpack.

(You struck a nerve here – I hate all that kinds of industries think they can please all women simply by offering stuff in pink -_-)

So – the first thing that came to mind for me is, “I bet there’s a pink drill out there.” So I typed in ‘pink drill’ on Amazon… You’ll be happy to know there are 658 results. They’re not just going magenta – this is bubble gum, barbie-cute pink. Pink Drills. I might have liked pink, if it hadn’t felt since childhood that ‘pink’ meant ‘working way too hard to be a girl.’

Are there pink quaggan out there? The only Quaggan items I want are those that replicate the perfection that IS a Quaggan.

Only one I would buy is the Orca quaggan backpack. But you can’t get it through any means yet. It is in the game yet. Here are the previews for the new backpacks:
Pink Quaggan: [&AgFGmgAA]
Green Quaggan: [&AgFKmgAA]
Purple Quaggan: [&AgFemgAA]
Orca Quaggan: [&AgFimgAA]

White Charr: [&AgFmmgAA]
Yellow Charr: [&AgFOmgAA]
Orange Charr: [&AgFSmgAA]
Brown Charr: [&AgFWmgAA]
Black Charr: [&AgFamgAA]

Joy. The Orca quaggan shows up as [PVP] when you enter it into chat…

How does the person that decides this stuff keep a job? “Hey, here’s something cool. Let’s not sell it.”

Pink was actually the colour for boys in the past. But it’s quite irrelevant to your taste.

If you feel that pink is a girlish colour then that’s fine, it’s rather common sense today.

But you see, common sense is not how the universe works. At least, most of it.

Prince Rurik and Lady Althea. Anyone else see the incompatibilty here?

Pro-sports merchandising has seen a trend in recent years for more and more pink jerseys and other offerings to appeal to women. Does this mean all women will want a pink jersey, or that no men will, or that just by offering pink jerseys to a portion of their demographic they are being sexist? Off course not. They identified a need and offered a product to fill it.

We can argue over exactly how valid the blue for men, pink for women assumption on a binary preference poll is today, but I think we can probably agree that there is still a heavy gender related bias to the choice. (Also, I’d add, there is nothing at all wrong with a woman preferring pink, or a man preferring blue. Feeling forced to break with a stereotype due to some perceived political statement it makes is as oppressive as feeling the need to choose pink as a girl, or blue as a boy, in order to conform to societal expectations).

So, given that the gender preference on pink vs. blue is real, no matter the exact degree, I would agree with the OP that it does seem that putting the Pink Quaggan in the BLC does place an inordinately higher barrier to obtaining the color that more women are likely to be interested in than men.

Back to sports merchandising, imagine the outrage if the only way to obtain pink team jerseys was through an expensive lottery! I don’t see this as any different. BLCs are clearly a lottery and a person looking for a Pink Quaggan backpack is likely to have to spend a lot more money to obtain it and those people desiring the Pink Quaggan backpack are more likely to be women.

IMO, both colors should be for sale directly and both should be on the loot table for BLCs.

I hope this means that back pieces will be dyeable in the future. Anet will make more money this way, then by trying to repackage the same item to sell again.
