Guild Wars 2

So I’m just remembering all the great skins present in GW1. I think it would be awesome to bring back something like that for GW2! A ton of great designs got submitted by players, and some beautiful weapons were made from them (the draconic aegis and the froggy scepter just to name two). Especially with HOTs on the horizon, I think this would be a great way to amp up even more excitement for the game, as well as bring in some fresh skins!

And who knows, I could be getting ahead of myself, but I think a Design-An-Armor-Set contest could be even better ^.^

There was the guild emblem design contest not too long ago (results are coming in soon)- so A-net are up for player designed stuff.

I’d like another weapons contest- I also think it’s more feasible than an armour contest due to the amount of work required for modelling and rendering a whole armour set than a single weapon. It would mean there could be multiple winners then- hopefully it would mean every class would be able to equip at least one of the new weapons.

It’s also easier to drop new named exotics into the game than it is armour. Named exotics can be placed as a rare chance from specific champ boxes, whereas armour would require a merchant to either sell the pieces or the recipes.

I have so many ideas I’d submit if I could. +1 for contests!!!

I think I remember seeing that somewhere and I love that they seem to be – so please, please, please, ANet, let us throw some fun designs at you! =)

I’d love to see this as well and have actually hoped to see a return since GW2 released.

I’m of the belief, however, that it would be too much work. The amount of submissions they’d get would be staggeringly high.

The art community has expanded immensely since back when Anet had their first design a weapon contest. Even then I’m sure it was a load of effort.

Just imagine it now – from the pencil doodles on ruled paper that people sketch while at work to everyone and their dog now having access to cheap tablets and pirated copies of photoshop.

It probably would be a lot of work, but if they’ve managed to do it with guild emblem design (as mentioned above) I feel they could do it with this too. Including strict parameters for submissions would also help weed out less serious submissions.

I’ll always support bringing back the design a weapon contest.

This would be a great time to bring it back either way because then we could perhaps have the opportunity to vote on one (or more?) of said designs (or anet decide?), to become new legendaries in Heart of Thorns or something.

Armor would be a ton more work for rendering, but the issue with selling them through a merch wouldn’t be that big of a deal. It could just drop like regular loot in game or be sold for x gold at a merch. I’d love to have both, but I have more money on just getting the weapons.

I’m completely on board with this. I would love to see armor too – but that’s getting ahead of ourselves. I’ll settle for weapon designs, I think it would be so amazing if ANet let players do this. And maybe give the artist of the winning weapon a free one in game?
