I don’t get why people freak out over things, A) They do not have all the facts on, Have not play tested a single hour of said changes. C) the only information they do have is a very general and confusing(in my personal opinion) blog post. D) Use the word viable as if there is no other way of playing the game. E) As if the game is NOT full of clone builds already.

This seems like more choices, no? From how I understand it, you don’t have to specialize, but if you do…your trash build (that can barely perform in Kessex Hills, nevermind anywhere meaningful in this game) suddenly became a viable one.

When 3/3/3/3/2 Ele build is widely used, I would agree there is diversity.

If 3/3/3/3/2 anything is used then it is more likely that they completely screwed up on the grandmaster traits.

Hearts were never always visible. Hearts were uncovered when you got into a certain range. At most they might have moved some so location for uncovering is different but that is really minor.

When you generally “discovered” an area (which is usually a large chunk of the map), hearts will be revealed to you.
However, the NPE has purposefully hidden hearts that do not activate unless you are within immediate proximity.
Take Ashford plains, right outside the gate.
You can move to various parts of the map and hearts will be revealed to you.
However, if you don’t jump right into that cow pen or talk to a scout, you’ll never know a heart was there.

My point is that there were things like that before NPE as well. I had one hell of a time searching for the last heart in Metrica one of my characters. Only after I finally found and finished the heart did I remember than I could have just talked to a scout. -_-

However we know that some traits are getting merged. Other traits are getting dropped and having their functionality implemented directly into the game. The perfect example of this is the one they gave with Necro wells. Wells will now be ground target by default, because that trait no longer exists.

That sort of change isn’t necessarily good or bad but you seem to be trying to paint it as a positive thing. I currently use the ground targeted trait for wells on my necromancer but when experimenting the other day I found it played smoother without that trait on a different build. Better for one build, worse for another(no impact on the numbers, just playstyle).

I’m trying to look at it from a practical stand point. There have been times where I’ve sat there looking at my traits wondering why some of there weren’t just merged. Or wishing I could take “just one more” to round out what I was trying to do. So you’re right, the change itself isn’t necessarily good or bad. It could be either. Sadly I’ve missed a good chunk of the stream thus far and don’t have a better feel for the new traits as yet. Hopefully I can rewatch it later. The little I have caught doesn’t sound horrible, and they have said repeatedly that this is just the current iteration. These can/will still change and they want our feedback on it.

I could see them doing something similar with Warden’s Feedback. Merge the cool down reduction with a different trait, and let the focus 4 and 5 reflect naturally by default. I could also see them taking Glamour Mastery and Temporal Enchanter and rolling it into a single trait. Which, depending on how they shuffle all that around, I could still end up with all the current build functionality that I use when reflecting.

Maybe after all this will finally be a mesmer build that I can enjoy.
Mesmer is the only class in the game where there isn’t any build I like.

I like running phants and reflects personally. I’m quite terrible with shatters, but maybe I just haven’t played with it enough, not sure.

Don’t worry about it though, if you can’t find one you like. My husband doesn’t like mes for basically the same reason – can’t find a build he likes. So his mes only gets pulled of the moth balls for jumping puzzles (we chain portals incase we fall, cause we’re just bad at them lol).

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

But it isn’t equally used as the 0/0/2/6/6 build. So it doesn’t matter what you think might had happened.

Basically … ranger … be a … power ranger.

Does this mean my ranger has to wear a pink visor helmet and do line-dance combat animations with my team-mates and pre-load every emote and shout with ‘mighty’?

dulfy has notes. For me it’s basically “hurray for everyone! booooo! for elementalist”

mine is just parked at rhendak, will probably move on once I get a second signet
hmm actually the change might really help. generally I am happier with 4/4/4(4 in 3 lines, not necessarily in the first 3). Now that it will be 6/6/6 it should be better.

Engineer gets AoE Moa Morph so my mesmer is now very jealous unless they get that too and suddenly I feel like playing more WvW
