Nothing personal but I could use a break from the elder dragons storyline for a time. Send us to Elona to fight Palawa Joko and his undead army and help the Sunspears, Kourna, Vabbi and Order of Whispers regain control of their homelands. Yes I know Kralkatorrik is blocking entrance to the Crystal Desert but if we kill him next after Mordremoth can we take a leave from Tyria and go fight in Elona?

Wouldn’t killing Kralkatorrik be another story line about a Elder Dragon? It could also be a long one since Anet won’t make a rushed story to get him out of the way.

Yes but they could tie Elona into it to act as a prequel leading to us fighting in Elona next instead of continuing the fight with the Deep Sea Dragon, Jormag or Primordus .

That or we could just skip Kralkatorrik altogether.

The story could start with getting an email from the Order of Whispers stating that they need to meet with us. There we would be introduced to a surviving member of the Sunspears where he would talk and than show via a cinematic the destruction of Palawa Joko’s destruction of Elona. Afterwards we would be told of a secret passageway into Elona that the Order of Whispers would take us to. We would fight some undead and be able to bypass Kralkatorrik beginning our story in Elona.

That is a basic idea but you get the point of how it could start.

I figure when we go after Kralk we’ll head back to Elona. As part of that story line we’ll end up dealing with PJ… either killing him, or teaming up with him (at least temporarily). Depends on the situation. I’d be more than happy to (re)end his existence when we’re done in order to restore Elona to it’s glory though.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

Kalkatrorrik is no excuse to exclude Elona… last time he flew from northern Ascalon to Elona, he can now fly to Ring of Fire and have a dragon party with some others and leave Elona to us now.

Honestly I just want some consistent living story. If they have to go 2 years without living story but then give us a huge expansion bringing more festival events and content that wouldn’t last a few hours I would be happy. I don’t like the fact that I was so interested in finding out what the trees vision was yet now I dont.

If so, could we find Cantha after a mysterious roar comes from the deep sea? We know connection with cantha was lost after the tidal waves caused by the rising of Zhaitan(correct me if I’m wrong). The deep sea dragon could have inhabited the waters around Cantha…

Or for a huge plot twist, the deep sea dragon reverted the jade sea to water and now resides there.

I can’t see how anyone would justify that lore-wise/storyline-wise. I mean… Palawa’s off in Elona, doing his thing, and not a thread to anyone atm. Jormag, Primordus or even the Deep Sea Dragon seem more likely to happen before Kralkatorrik/Elona.

Also, side-note; killing the Deep Sea Dragon would allow travel to Cantha AND Elona in theory, since iirc that dragon is the one stopping major ocean travel.

Well.. for once… they might come up with an interesting story that is not “A HUGE MASSIVE BALL OF DESTRUCTION WILL DESTROY THE WORLD!”

Leave dragons to rest for a while you know…

What if Palawa Joko is actually defending Elona and/or fighting against Elder Dragons?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but GW1 lore never really implied that Joko was all that “evil”.

Palawa Joko tried to exterminate/enslave all of Elona but was brought down by Turai Ossa, I think that would categorize him as evil.

Well, he did help to defeat Abaddon, maybe he has changed last over the 250 years.
I personally don’t want to see all old GW1 villains getting killed in GW2, he was an interesting character, most certainly more interesting than all the dragons combined.

Actually, returning to Cantha in tandem with taking on Bubbles is something that I’ve brought up before as well. Think in the Cantha thread, but it’s been a while. Something along the lines of recruiting them to the cause and launching a two pronged attack against that dragon. Maybe even needing to get Kuuni involved to grant us some special powers again (hey, it could happen).

Of course, I’ve also stated that if we see Largos become a playable race, this dragon would also be good time to introduce that. Since the Largos were one of the races displaced by that dragon’s rising.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

im pretty sure that the jade sea was already in the process of reverting back to water at the end of factions/WoC (there was no visible change in game, but im sure at least once there was dialogue about it and the petrified forest changing back)

For all we know Cantha could have been hit by the large wave from Zaitans initial rise and most of Kaining Center could be gone.

Technically all he did was help us cross the desolation to get to Varesh Ossa so he didn’t exactly help defeat Abaddon. Although I understand you not wanting to kill off GW1 villians, Palawa Joko was destined to be an antagonist for GW2 by how GW1 set it up. As you stated, Joko would make for a much better and more interesting storyline than fighting dragons over and over again.

Palawa Joko may very well be fighting against Kalkatorrik and his minions, not to save or protect anyone else, but simply to keep Kalkatorrik out of Joko’s own domain. Just because Joko is evil, doesn’t mean that he’s going to join up with other evil powers… even though Palawa Joko would have been a much more fitting member of any “EVIL JUSTICE LEAGUE” or “EVIL AVENGERS” (such as the incredibly improbable alliances Scarlet was forging).

Elder Dragons don’t like each other, Kalkatorrik might just think that Joko is basically Zhaitan encroaching on Kalkatorrik’s hunting grounds for all his minions can perceive.

While these two big foes are fighting it out, that could leave us much time to establish ourselves in the area in order to deal with one or the other (or both threats).

The main question here is not “can this work into the GW2 narrative”, but “is Anet ever going to add this sort of substantial amount of content rather than purely just biweekly cashshop updates until the end of the game’s life”.

I’m sure a lot of us GW1 vets would love to go to Cantha and Elona.

I don’t want to get there via Living Story because at this rate I feel like I’m still being spoon fed because they don’t think I’m ready to play the game.

Seriously. That is all the Living Story is. Spoon fed story.

They should just open up the rest of Tyria for us to explore while they work on a REAL expansion and open either Cantha or Elona. There should be enough land mass to keep us occupied for a few months for them to do this.

And yes, give the dragons a rest. Dragons are an overused and over abused Deus Ex Machina in the majority of fantasy games.

I’ve noticed enough hints through out the Personal Story and the Living Story that points the finger at the true Deus Ex Machina for Guild Wars, Abbadon. Let’s rip him a new one again in Elona.

I really don’t want Shiro back, so I’m fresh out of ideas for Cantha.

I just can’t play this game until something interesting happens. Every time I check for new content it’s “Buy this new ….. in the gem store!”

I mean god just release an expansion and let people choose what and when they want to explore. Heck, how long ago did Blizzard release the Burning Crusade? Do you seriously think every player has visited every corner of out land yet? No.

I got new for all of you, unless something drastic changes, you’ll probably see the other 4 dragons before you see either Cantha or Elona, if you ever see them again(unless maybe GW3 and GW4). As for the Deep Sea Dragon, it’s location is already in the existing Tyrian world, just look at the bottom left corner(aka SouthWestern portion) of the main map below the ring of fire…that sea is where the deep sea dragon resides.
