Can you safely put away your legendary?
Put it in an invisible bag. They dont show inventory to vendors
1. Put in an invisible bag when you can.
2. Start paying attention to what you click on to sell; if you see purple text, avoid.
3. Start double checking the Sold tab at vendors before leaving a zone.
The problem is it won’t automatically go in the invisible bag if you have any other open slots higher up.
Worst case scenario then, yu have buyback. Also absolute worst case scenario, the legendary skin will be forever saved to wardrobe.
Really though, caution is the best solution. It’s fairly easy not to sell something valuable
I have an invisible bag for my weapons, food, siege.
Then I have several usual bags for loot, then I have an oiled leather bag for junk.
I can always see what’s junk, when I swap my weapons I usually replace them with what I have equipped (that happens automatically except if you have 2 weapons equipped and replace them with one and have looted something in the meantime, then one of the “weapon slots” in your invitory will be occupied by loot).
Works for me.
I have an invisible bag already but it doesn’t go in automatically, I saw someone mentioned a buyback method, what is that ?
I never understood why arenanet made legendary’s show in vendors, no one is going to sell theirs to the NPC anyway, if they really want to get rid of it they can always destroy it.
Every vendor has a buyback tab. if you sell something accidentally, you can buy it back

thanks, I never even noticed that, how does the pricing work though?
Don’t see why you couldn’t legendary weapons can’t be vendor sold…

If you sold it for 3 silver then you buy it back for 3 silver. I suppose if you somehow spent all your money before visiting the buyback tab that you would not be able to buy it back, but that seems rather unlikely given that you only get the buyback option while you remain logged in on that map anyway (or in that game session? I haven’t tested it on re-zoning).

Well atleast that gives some kind of security, I’m glad Arenanet implemented something like this, worst case scenario I can always sell something else to reach the 3 silver or whisper a friend and ask him to send it to me through mail. thanks for the information.
Yep the buy back is a you pay exactly what the merchant gave you to get the item back. If you leave the map or log out, the buyback clears it self.
I still don’t see the concern though, like I said Legendary weapons CANNOT be vendor sold. Take one off and put it in your first bag, then go to the vendor it won’t even appear in the sell window.

Ah I see, I couldn’t make much sense out of the first post you wrote, I have another dagger with the incinerator skin applied to it, that’s probably the one that appeared in the vendor. I figured it would be kind of weird that arenanet made it like this, so I was wrong, my apologies.
Legendaries cannot be sold to vendor or salvaged or destroyed by mistake. So it is pretty save.

^^; Sorry about that, the first post I made was pretty short. To clarify the system a bit…
Any item that does not have an attached value at the bottom (the gold/silver/copper) that shows the vendor price cannot be vendor sold. So legendary weapons, ascended items, and a few other things can’t be sold on accident. If you skinned an exotic dagger however, that will still have the sell value so it can be sold on accident.
ascended items, and a few other things can’t be sold on accident.
Wrong again =)

Ahh sorry, I haven’t ever tried to sell them, though it is true many things that do not contain a sell value cannot be sold. I’m not sure I follow the “again” part
- looked into it online, yep ascended weapons armor and jewels do indeed have a value so they can be sold (shocked I forgot that, as I have been considering selling off my ascended ring collection). Ascended back pieces on don’t or at least some don’t ^^

That why my invisible bag is my first bag
legendary just a skin to show off, once you unlock the skin. doesnt really matter u lose or not. if u lose it ascended gear put a skin on u have a legendary again lol.

Minus the whole stat switching thing…
i got 4 legendary. all in my mesmer.
never switch stat since i used it lol

Just because you never do, doesn’t mean others don’t I have… well enough on my mesmer, and I switch stats pretty frequently.
This does highlight a slightly different issue, in that if you swap from a weapon set with two weapons (i.e. dagger/dagger) to a weapon set with one weapon (i.e. staff), you end up eating up an extra inventory space.
I always thought it would be nice if a weapon set in it’s entirety would occupy the same amount of effective inventory space. Of course, the game isn’t really built to handle that.
I was thinking it could also be cool to have a reserved “equipment” area of the inventory that would be exclusively for holding weapons and maybe armour. Kind of like the equipment bags in GW1. For instance, they could have a 40 slot bag that can only hold those kinds of items, so you can’t just use it for normal inventory stuff. That way, a person who had multiple gear sets would be able to manage them much more easily without them being cluttered with the rest of the inventory, but they also wouldn’t be gaining any extra effective inventory space (in fact, they’d probably be losing some).
All my 16 characters have at least 2 different complete gear sets at the moment for different builds, so it gets a bit annoying sometimes when I need to swap weapons and I have to rearrange a lot of the inventory so that it doesn’t put the offhand I just swapped out in some random place in one of my bags.

That wouldn’t help really since you switch 1 item against 2 items. So if the invisible
bag is full and your staff is in it, the switch will free 1 slot for one dagger, but not
for both.
In the end the best is to use invisible bag but also always open your invent and
sort it manually. Normally i have for example things like salvage kits in my invis bag
or dwarven keys that i simply then put into another bag to free a slot for the
other weapon.
I have the invis bag on the second slot btw. so its easy to access.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
As other people have said you cannot sell legendaries to merchants, or salvage them. Once they’re account bound (which happens the first time you equip them) you can’t sell them to other players either. You also can’t put them in the Mystic Forge.
So they’re actually pretty safe.
(You can delete them, but to do that you have to type the name of the legendary you’re deleting into a confirmation box and click ok, so it’d be pretty hard to do by accident. A misclick while dragging across the screen is possible, clicking to delete it, typing the name and hitting ‘Yes’ is not an accident.)
Some other weapons with a legendary skin applied can be sold, salvaged etc. because that’s determined by the actual item, not the skin. But if that happens you can get another one the same way you got the original and apply the legendary skin using the wardrobe.

These already exist. They’re called equipment boxes and are crafted by armorsmith’s. Or you can get ones specifically for Masterwork and better, Rare and better or Exotic and better gear from Fractals.
