Would be nice to be able to select different postures in character creation, and have options to make characters really fat so they can waddle everywhere casting spells or swinging swords and whatnot.

One can only dream.

Look look… My point was obvious….

The charrs stand like they can’t handle their backs up straight. Do you even lift Rhytlock?

Bad point.

If there was a valid reason to stand up straight, they might be inclined to risk the spinal problems. But there is no valid reason.

My point was, charr can stand up straight if they want to. There is no physical limitation preventing them from standing straight as people tend to believe.

I’m not saying they will or should, all I’m saying is it’s possible.

It irritates the very core of my being, just by looking at that “poor me” stance charr has.

ArenaNet already stated that few people play as Charr or Asura, so they won’t bother fixing the animations and armors of those two races.

I suggest conforming with being a second rate race, or deleting your Charr. That’s the best ArenaNet is going to give you.

Their posture is poor like in Undead(WoW) but with charr model instead. So I have to play with, like furry monster that can’t stand straight because his/her head is too heavy or? o.O

Seriously, WHY Kodans are not walking like bears then or halfly up?

Come on! You can do better ANET… Put them UP STRAIGHT and you did something good with them for once.

I feel like shriveled when playing my Charrior…. Im dead serious -.-

Um, you might want to Google some images on polar bears. If you’ve watched any documentaries on bears you’d know that they can move on their hind legs. Just watch any video of a bear fight.

When a cat stands on their hind paws, their back is curved.
[img]http://kes.wimp.com/images/thumbs/2010/04/f2ad422795b12dd02fcd96f4102dc22c_cat_1316_866.jpg Now add the mass of upper body muscle that you would see on a body builder while still retaining the ability to run on all fours plus fight while standing on their hind legs

Charr posture is weird because they have the hind quarters of a cat but the upper body of a human. From a weight distribution perspective, they need to be hunched so the weight is centred correctly.

Anet has done a spectacular job giving Charr the unique running animation of a feline combined with HUMAN fighting stances

It would have been vastly easier to just put fur on a hominid body, give it a cat head, make it look like the unholy demonspawn of a cat and human crossbreed and do away with the whole running on all fours thing.

If I wanted cat cosplayers, I wouldn’t be playing GW2

I probably would have played Charr more if they stood up straighter, like the Ronso from Final Fantasy X, just so I could make a Kimari Ronso, Charr, but the current Charr don’t do it for me.
Of course, the Second post in this thread said all that was necessary.

This is fiction. Everything’s as possible as Anet wants it to be. If suddenly every Charrs’ legs fell off and they sprouted squid tentacles and wiggled around because of “reasons” that would be the reality of the game world no matter how absurd it would seem.

I do enjoy the “science says it can/can’t work” arguments in a game with sentient, thinking plants, undead, and lava monsters though…

Sad thing is, zombies do exist in reality. Some parasites do very, very strange things to their hosts.

Except that charr standing up straight actually exist in the lore. Charr with squid tentacles do not. Big difference.

Don’t tell that to me, I wasn’t the one who brought “science” into this argument, that was Drarnor Kunoram. I merely stated that charr standing up straight are part of the lore and are therefore possible to exist in gw2, that is all.

I never denied they could, either. It just wouldn’t be very comfortable, pretty similar to a human craning their neck.

The Flame Legion did it for dominance reasons, but none of the others did hold that posture for extended periods of time.

Oh but I agree. I was merely pointing out to Substance E that the “science says it can/can’t work” arguments didn’t start here.

Those are flame legion slaves with spikes on their shoulders. Nope, it’s not armor, they actually have 3 horn-like spikes on each shoulder. Probably some magic experiment that mutate them or something.

My charr do not have spikes on their shoulders. They are supposed to walk upright.

“Bonwor Fierceblade is a childhood friend and loyal member of Pyre Fierceshot’s warband. Like Pyre, he is hateful of the shaman caste.” Bonwor and Pyre were not flame legion slaves… At least they were truly kitten charr, unlike these weaklings we have now.

On the other hand fur burns the same way, regardless of how said beasts walk.

Im more curious if they could give us a option to run on 2 legs. I like running on 4 legs but without a 25%+ speed increase it really looking silly.

I think the problem there might be that the GW1 charr with an more upright stance aren’t just variations of the normal charr, they have their own model, with its own mesh. That’s what allows them to have that more upright stance, they are designed to look that way from the start. GW2 charr aren’t. You can’t just go and try to make the model look that way, when it wasn’t intended to work that way from the beginning, so actually achieving that would most likely require a complete rework of the current model or the implementation of a new one, with new animations.

I honestly doubt that’ll happen :/

As a non-charr player is the posture ok when relieving ones self on a tree, building or random Norn foot? I also question if the animations when licking one’s parts just because you can is without clipping?

If your having adventurer problems I feel bad for you son, I dodged 99 arrows till my knee took one.
