I hate to be “that guy” but it has come to my attention where I thought players were hacking because they were attacking and not becoming “revealed.” Out of curiosity I logged onto my thief and started using stealth skills and then I spammed shortbow poison aoe, caltrops, etc to apply conditions on foes in area and noticed I can pretty much kill both players and monsters without becoming “revealed.” This is getting more and more popular in WvW and it is rather unfair… I can deal with most thieves even though they down my character in 2 – 3 hits. But this is enough, please make any damage the thieves do in stealth apply revealed. Spamming conditions from stealth should reveal them.

Thanks…

If you die to Choking Gas and Caltrops, you should perhaps play a different game.

Sorry, you deserve (on multiple levels) to die if you stood in choking gas for too long and died… that’s like drowning in a bathtub with foot of water. I don’t know…. This is becoming more sad…

kitten please just remove thieves altogether… i mean, fine people had issues dealing with backstabs… but now THIS…. it’s like instead of them l2p they’re l2s (i’ll give you a hint it starts with ‘s’ and ends with ‘uck’).

Edit: Actually, what am I saying… I totally agree with you OP, either stealth needs to be nerfed on thieves more, OR nerf the choking gas somehow (smaller radius, or remove the poison effect so that it does nothing but a circle on the ground. I think that would be fair).

Next you’ll be complaining that a condition thieve’s bleeds tick on you while he’s in stealth. Or that a guardian can hold up his shield to block once while he attacks you. Or that a mesmer can attack you while his clones are up and you don’t know which one is him.

All those things are unfair and deserve a nerf! Only I am allowed to WIN.

Thief condition damage is awful compared to other classes, so something like this gives them somekinda edge.
You can always see the aoe rings too, whether they’re stealthed or not.

You all completely misunderstood the point of the post… It’s the ability to apply conditions while having stealth upwards of 20+ seconds without ever being revealed that is the problem… They can come in, drop AoE conditions and run out and keep stealth up and reapply conditions faster than condition removals come off of cooldowns without ever becoming revealed. It’s broken mechanic, physically attacking a player by using skills should cause revealed… I understand not being revealed if they already have conditions on you, but applying any new conditions that do damage should not allow them to stay invisible with no ways of fighting back besides running away until the thief gets tired of following you…. It is like fighting a necromancer who just constantly poisons, bleeds, blinds, etc while being 100% invisible indefinitely. Meanwhile you cannot out run stealthed players either, because even with swiftness moving you at 33% faster speeds, stealth at 50% faster speed = never out run, unless you play a warrior who just sword / gs away all the time.

@Doggie.3184, I can see the aoe rings correct, but I cannot fight back at a player I never get to see… If a player can cause damage while staying invisible 100% of time, you will never know where that player is, period.

Every action should break stealth imo.

Ah, I see the problem…you can’t even AoE them out of stealth easily with most professions when they use a shortbow due to the range, correct? It’d probably be possible on a necro, but otherwise, you mostly need to know where to aim.

(Well I know why I don’t PvP – I suck at it – but I can see how this would frustrate people who do)

In all due fairness, a caltrop/pistol/stealth spamming thief can win most fights though a battle of attrition. I can avoid the gas, but when the thief starts dodging on top of me, it’s sorta hard to completely avoid all the caltrops. And that bleeding damage is nothing to laugh at.

First of all, stealth is capped at 12 secs so i dont know where you saw 20 sec stealth on thief. Secondly, thief that is staying permanently in stealth cant do anything else since he doesnt have enough initiative for anything else.
Third, wpn swap cd is 9 seconds. Only way thief can stealth with sb is by using smoke curtain and blasting it 4 times for 12 secs of stealth. Which leaves him without any initiative to put up poison field. And it is also impossible to perma stealth with sb.
Which means he has to keep switching wpns, keep stealth up at all time and spam poison fields…guy that can do all that would probably kill you anyway since it sounds to me that this is indeed l2p issue.
