I am curious what you all do after reaching 80, getting full exotics and 100% map completion to continue the play value of this game, whether you are against or for the Ascended armor.

I ask because there’s been a ton of people that have left the game since there’s not much else for them to do after achieving those 3 things.

IMO, Legendarys are a long term answer to play value, and making a new character is a way to increase the play value.

For people, like myself though who is really only a one person character and not exactly into legendaries (most of them are actually ugly), what else is there to do? Granted, I still play, but I have found myself getting bored. I am not in a guild that is active enough to do dungeons. Jumping puzzles and the like are short term. WvW is an option and so is spvp. I’m more or less indifferent about the ascended armor since I prob won’t do the new dungeon anyways, but its just nice to have that progression option.

I don’t have 100% map completion. I haven’t been actively pursuing it, though.

Instead, I’m doing:
- WvW, mostly.
- Dungeons with friends.
- Saving up for a not-quite-legendary weapon (there are Mystic Forge recipes with unique skins and ridiculous ingredient requirements that aren’t quite as intensive as the Legendary weapons).
- The actual new content (rather than new gear) added in every monthly release.
- Waiting for Anet to fix a blocking bug in my personal story.

Steadily getting 100% world completion, I’ve been playing WvW most of the time after reaching lvl 80 alongside doing jumping puzzles and dungeons with friends, one of them even enjoys just running around the lower populated areas just to explore as much as I do. I also try playing the TP a little, see what makes profit and earn me some of that extra gold. And ofcourse sPvP from time to time.

Everything

100% Map completion
Dungeons
Legendary
Cosmetic alterations to multiple gear sets for all the different aspects of the game (World exploration/ Magic find/ Dungeon / different weapon sets/ WvW)
WvW – Primarily
80 zones for event farming etc
SPvP

There’s tons of options and if you care about WvW you’ll be in it quite a bit. People who have “left the game” are idiots imo cause all they want is to separate themselves by gear in a virtual world rather than play a game that is completely in every aspect superior to any other game at the moment but does not allow players to feel they are better than others due to content completed and gear acquired.

I would suggest joining a larger guild and interact with more players, they benefit you more and it’s better to have a larger pool of players to do all the different aspects of the game. WvW/Dungeons etc become much better with more people to do it with.

sorry to tell you this, but not everyone who has played since beta has a level 80 yet.
i have 9 toons, of which the highest is 48 and the lowest is 15.
i have zero intention of getting any of them to 80 anytime soon,
mostly because getting to the level cap leads to boredom, lack of direction and elitist behaviour.
people need to learn to slow down and smell the flowers more.

Going for 100% map completion and getting the rest of the achivements.
Not interested in the legendary weapons at all, too much grind for too little to show for it. I may try to level up a few alts to level 80 to see all the personal stories, but after that, I don’t know what I will do.

Been playing since day 1 of head start. I have 8 characters. 2 80s, rest are 30-40. Highest map completion is around 40%. There are still zones I haven’t even stepped foot in yet. I haven’t had to worry about “replay”, because I’m still “playing” the game.

Believe it or not, but I like to explore maps again, redo events and jumping puzzle and mini-dungeons that I appreciated and basically just enjoying the content. Playing with friends too of course.
WvW sometimes (when I can play in the morning and avoid the queue) and dungeons when there are enough guildies.
In short, I’m just playing normally and enjoying the game, slowly earning enough money to get exotic gear and more importantly, buy enough gems to create all of my other 15 planned characters (being a roleplayer doesn’t help reroll at all) x)

The way that GW2 was described, I always got the impression that their game was more about “the climb” to the level cap and not about the “end game” scene. It appeared to be a game for people who loved exploring, visual expression through your gear choices, and for those who love to make countless alts.

ArenaNet threw out some kind of last minute statement about how they were going to include an end game scene as a way of placating and suckering people into buying their product. I wasn’t surprised to see that GW2 didn’t start with an end game cycle, since I felt ArenaNet had always been relatively up front about it.

However ArenaNet is now looking to go the completely other way and focus on turning GW2 into an end game scene that has grinding gear progression. I really question whether they fully understand what they’re starting.

We are Test Group F. (Don’t ask about what happened to the previous Test Groups.)

I play since launch and:

1) i avoid ORR at least the farmong places unless i really need money because is BORING

2) i chill out with friends, i help them in lower lvl areas, i do jumping puzzles with them

3) i polish and test my build

4) craft

5) dragons ( i find them fun)

6) map completion

7) some long Dynamic events

8) farm materials a little

9) wvwvw

10) i have yet to see many dungeons like arah, or SE and CoE, and some path of CoF

11) MY and friend’s story

12) another character

13) talk with friends also……

As you say i have plenty things to do and despite i played a lot really i still have just seen half a game…….

AFter the patch possibly half of those things will be harder …..i think i don t need to explain why to any experienced mmorpg player….

GW2 balance:
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
