Given we will soon start to earn laurels for completing daily achievements, and these laurels will be important to many players who would like to purchase Ascended gear and Infusions for their characters, would it be a good idea to allow players to save up dailies so they don’t miss out when real life intervenes?

By this I mean have it set so that when you miss a daily quest you gain the ability to do an additional daily quest the next time you login.

As an example:
Day1 – 1 daily available but not completed
Day 2 – 2 daily quests available – 2 are completed
Day 3 – 1 daily quest available but not completed
Day 4 – 2 daily quests available but not completed
Day 5 – 3 daily quests available but not completed
Day 6 – 4 daily quests available – 2 are completed
Day 7 – 3 daily quests available … and so on

New Achievement Laurels

You’ll earn these brand-new laurels as a reward for daily and monthly achievements!

Redeem these laurels for rewards like the new Ascended gear and Infusions!

Or are dailies meant to be a reward for logging in every day and fine despite the new reward system?

That’s something I always wished games with dailies would do. And not for a “this would be easier on me because of RL circumstances” reason, but for a “this would just be more enjoyable to me” reason.

I would enjoy logging in on a Saturday or Sunday and just making a day of doing dailies, as opposed to logging in 30 minutes each day to knock out the daily before daily reset (7PM my local time for my server). 3.5-4 hours on one day vs 30 minutes across 7 days is just a more enjoyable way to do it, IMO.

I wish it would happen, but I’m sure someone somewhere will find a reason to QQ at the mere thought of such a thing… so don’t hold your breath.

Dailies are called such for a reason. Else they would’ve been twodailies or threedailies.
It’s not a reason to cry over, just a laurel (thats not even in the game yet).

That’s what the monthly is for, Daily are named so because they start over each day. If you want a laurel each day log in and do the work if you cant then you cant but it shouldn’t be given special treatment because you cant log in every day for 30 mins. In your scenario it would just be a multi-tiered weekly.

I like the idea, but there should be a cap on how many you can save up. (Maybe up to three). The point of dailies existing is to incentivize regular logging-in, and that contributes to a more active server. So, in my opinion, a compromise between rewarding regular logging-in and having a tolerance for some missed days would be ideal.

Why not just add a Weekly instead of messing with the definition of Daily?

Sort of defeats the purpose of the dailies. Purpose being getting people to login everyday and to go out into the world to do things.

I’d be ok with it if you had to log on to collect the daily, and then could log off and do it another day. But there would definitely have to be a limit (3 would be fine with me)

However, I do prefer what ANet is doing instead.

I would probably prefer a weekly as opposed to a daily if I had a choice. Monthly isn’t a huge deal in its current state and easy to knock out in a week or two without trying if its not tied to timed events. I’d love to knock out a weekly achievement on a weekend or something instead of trying to find time every day, but its not a huge deal. Knowing me if its not much more time consuming then dailies currently are I can find the time.

To be honest I doubt we will be missing too much if we miss days, one laurel probably.

That sounds like a fair enough compromise. Not exactly what I was hoping for but it would give both sides what they essentially desire.

Do you know what the word “daily” means?

You`re basically asking for more free stuff for logging in very rarely. You`re not going to have as much stuff as a person who plays everyday, and nor should you.

Daily means something that happens each day, like accumulating daily quests would occur… daily.

I’m not asking for anything. I log in and do my dailies every day as it is. What I’m asking for is opinions on whether or not the change to the reward warrants a change to the system. I’m perfectly fine with it staying the way it is right now.

Exactly. Because people who have more free time to log in on more days are entitled to more rewards. If you don’t understand that system of entitlement then there must be something wrong!

i would like to see a change where if you partially complete a daily, it does not reset the next day, it would instead save your progress so you can finish it. this way, people who dont have time to complete everything can get bits of it done and not lose progress, and get a daily done at least every few days.

say for example you login and only get two events and ten kills and ten gathers done, but wont have time to finish before the next reset. instead of losing progress the next day, it keeps your progress, then you login and only need to finish what was leftover to get a daily credit. i am not saying you should get an extra daily, but rather give a better chance for people with less playtime to complete them..

I like this as well. It would still only reward 1 daily over the course of 2 days, but it would help someone who has very little time on there hands, since otherwise they would get 0 daily rewards over those 2 days.

How is it that people are having problems completing their dailies? I understand that we don’t always have the time to play each day but why should that constitute a change in the system to benefit us?

Dailies take 30-60 minutes tops and if you don’t have that sort of time for a given day then so-be-it…it’s not like you’re going to be left behind with no way to catch up.

Honestly though, how is that these daily requirements are so drastic for some that they would need them stretched across multiple days to complete? Are you only able to play for 10 minutes a day?

FYI: for those that are having trouble with the daily DEs…go do MAW. It spawns every 30 minutes and within 10 minutes you’ll have 6-8 DEs completed and half your other daily requirements out of the way as well.

This sentence is false.

It’s actually nice the daily resets in the middle of the evening… if you’re at least aware of the reset time, you can complete two dailies in the same day.
This is nice if you know you’re going to be busy the next day!

As far as rewarding us for previous completion, I highly doubt it. We didn’t get jugs of karma from the previous change. Also, It gives us something new and fresh to strive for and everyone is on the same playing field.

I know in GW1, you could stock up to 3 days worth of dailies and go back to do those old ones when you get the chance. If you tried to get a 4th one, you’ll be asked to either complete one of the older ones or abandoned them in order to take on the new daily. It seemed like an interesting compromise and allowed me to take on the challenges within a reasonable time but still acquire new ones if it interested me.

Yup, it seems like a reasonable compromise to me. Allows people to have a little more flexible schedule, but also requires that they be completed within a period of time in order to reap the full benefits.

I would make it tiered.

1/ every single daily achievement would give you something of value, such as a drop of karma, 50c and a laurel
2/ completing the daily pool would unluck the remaining rewards: jug, coin, extra laurels, extra silver.

Furthermore, the daily/monthly achievements would not reset until completed and then reset based on the current day.

Uh, yes? Just like how people who work 40 hours are entitled to more money than those who work 4. This horse was dead before it even began though; you’re not going to see dailies changed at all and even if they add weeklies for some reason the same problem will exist because dailies will still be there.
