I am baffled at the inaccuracy of tooltips everywhere in the game. Very often they are vague at best, incomplete and inconstant.

I would like to see an option to have less text based but more detailed tooltips.
The information I am looking for in a detailed tooltip is the following:
-base damage
-coefficients
-cast time (including animation time, after cast)
-internal and hidden cooldowns (and shared cooldowns)
-tracking (target or direction)
-speed of projectiles

Don’t you find it annoying to have to go every time on the wiki to learn about your skills?

I agree wholeheartedly. The designers in question obviously tried to “keep it simple”, so that casuals won’t be turned away by numbers, failing to acknowledge the needs of the more serious players.
I for one want to know what my skills do, and the awful descriptions make it impossible to accurately judge anything in the game without the help of outside sources (i.e. fan made animation speed tables to compare dps for example).

I doubt that this is ever going to change though, anet has a track record of aiming for the lowst common denominator in design decisions for gw2.

I agree – recent example: Rangers axe off-hand #4 skill now pulls on return, as per patch notes, but the tooltip, as of this morning anyway, doesn’t say this… seems kind of key to me.
