Does anyone actually want a Season 3?
In conclusion, it sounds like the majority of people want more content, but are divided as to whether or not they want it through a Season or not. I think this is because some like me have been jaded by the failed promises of the living story. I like the idea behind it, and the way its used, but not the quantity of content. I think starting living story seasons with expansions makes more sense.
Theres a lot of speculation that the LS team is only a small part of Anets employee staff and that others work on other projects. If thats true then you could probably assume that having one team for expansions and one for LS would be good.
However I think this would be too stale for Anet to do. They try to innovate everything(they do a good job too sometimes). I expect Anet to do some new form of content release that we haven’t heard of yet and to talk about it at PAX. Thats what I would guess.

So OP in answer to your question, it seems like a lot of people do want Season 3. Including me.
A post full of negative opinions…
“The opinions expressed in this thread are those of the vocal minority.”
Only 1% of the players post in the forums, so in the end everything posted here is the opinion of a minority.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this isn’t how it works. We don’t know what percentage of people who play the game post on reddit and the forums. We do know however that these are the only mediums of communication that the devs have available. There are no in game polls to express content with the game and opinions on certain issues.
If the forums/reddit were such a minority, why would they be so influential in Anets decision making. Balance changes have been made because of them, the Gemstore Apocalypse was prevented because of them, Cantha, SAB, temporary content, CDI CDI CDI, etc. Anet creates the CDI for a place of discussion for certain future/current areas of development because they want to have a perspective on the communities desire.
Plus, if you truly believed that this place was a minority, then I guess you and Vayne are wrong because then that would mean your belief that the majority of people on this thread who say they want another Season 3, are only a small percentage of the population. I could just as easily say that the majority of people don’t want another Season, but they just don’t use the forums or play the game anymore.
Yes.
I am overall satisfied with Season 2. It could use more, but I don’t have unrealistic expectations anyways.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
I have almost zero interest in the living story. Tried Season 1, could not get into it. Tried Season 2, could not get into it. All the effort that Anet puts into the LS is completely wasted on me.
I’ll take new classes, new playable races, new weapons and new permanent maps thank you. Also new hearts in PvE, new WvW maps, new gear and crafting options…actually I’ll take anything but season 3 of living story.
Not unless they finally settle on a method to expand actual, core gameplay elements as a part of that season. Skills and weapons primarily. The stuff you would would expect to see added nearly two and a half years after launch.

I want a season 3 but if it’s less gem store, waste time jumping content. I don’t mind the idea of living story but this story isn’t living its just repeating itself and it will die soon.
I’d really like to see more actual content, new dungeons, more bosses with actual mechanics not just copies of old ones. I’d like to see a new content. I mean they could spent two full living stories opening up Cantha and Elona. Like have a couple different living story events fighting our way through to the two continents. This would give them time to finish the areas and would give a lot of life to the two areas.
I don’t much care for a new race, but new classes would be cool. It’d also be cool to have new skills and new weapon skins that came from the game.
I would also really like to have a precursor scavenger hunt, and maybe making legendaries more skill based. Also introduce new ones.
There’s alot of stuff I’m hoping for in the game because I really like it. But as it stands now, it’s hard not hate alot of it and it’s hard to stick with it if real content doesn’t come. Most of the people I follow on youtube for gw2 have left and many in game as well who cared more quality of content. I know the game’s not dead and many will still play but i think making real content will keep players interested, keep the gem store alive, and will also bring back skilled players. It’s the solution for everyone, whereas the LS as it stands is only a solution for casual players.
Irrc, one of the devs involved commented that players did not even seem to notice.
I also fail to see how your changes being so organic people don’t even consciously notice is a bad thing.
I mean, consider if every patch changes a dozen events. Consider that individually, like moving your colleague’s desk by half a millimeter, this is pretty much unnoticeable.
Yet a year later, you all of a sudden stop and realize “Wait, this all used to be totally different a year ago, wasn’t it?!” and start to ask in guild chat, players realizing that wow, tons and tons of events must have changed, there’s entirely different chains and stories now. Much like your colleague is wondering why he’s sitting on the other end of the room.Good point.
But…
People say that ANet pays no attention to what players say (or don’t say, in this case).
The problem is, all this feels like RPG game, getting patches and modes for it.
There is nothing mmorpg in this LS, thats the problem.
In mmorpg you team up with others, you are the one who is in journey and you are the hero, you are central figure who gets help from others.
Not just some bystander.LS story is all fine and well, but that isnt mmorpg, its rpg. That is why I dont enjoy it.
I wanna play with OTHERS, not cuz I’m lonely, but cuz I have to! Cuz it’s hard content for just one player. You know, to feel like Im playing with players, and not just NPCs.
This game is such NPCS+AI Wars 2.
Seriously, too many ai in classes, too many npcs in pve.
I think Silverwastes and Drytop, both of which came with the Living Story, are both zones that require a lot of participation to maximize your rewards. The instances that come with it can be done solo or with people. But the zones that came with it are good MMO zones.
They require cooperation to max rewards, but even without cooperation you can get something done.

Not just some bystander.
Eh?
I think you made a typo there. You meant to say that in a RPG (as in, a single-player RPG?) you are the hero?
While due to the nature of MMOs, you shouldn’t be in a MMORPG? There are a million other “the heroes”, after all?
Do I want more content?
Sure.
Do I want it in the same form it has been delivered to us this far ( aka Seasons) – thus meaning season 3?
No.
Why? Because the pace is too slow.
I would rather wait half a year and have a few days’ worth of content in a bigger patch/whatever you want to call it than have 1 or 2 hours of fun progressing through a story every 2 weeks.
Wait.. so you are saying the pace is too slow, but you would rather wait 1,5 YEARS between releases?

But we do know that a lot of the stuff people are asking for, real content and more of it, isn’t something that most people don’t like. There is a vocal minority who are on these forums and 90% of the stuff that’s talked about is not reflective of most people and its not things that people worry or care about. But when it comes to upgrading the LS, adding more to it and making it have expansion like content given for free every couple weeks I think that majority of people will like it more, or the same. I think would be safe to assume that adding new races, new areas, new stories, new dungeons, new maps to wvw and pvp, and new ways to get precursors would cater to a majority of people in the game, those who hate LS, who like it, who are on this forum constantly, and who have left.

In every MMO other there including nearly every kittene I am aware off the main storyline is always solo questing. The group content is nearly always outside the main storyline and for good reason. Imagine a game like everquest 2 which has been out for years. How would you do the storyline if you started off today? too few players in low level areas to ensure you can find groups each time you play. Ironically the living world is the closest I’ve seen to over group content in a story environment. Marionette , Battle / Escape from LA, The molten facility lab, clockwork invasions, The dragon’s reach etc.. OF course now that season 2 is permanent the living story has gotten more in line with other MMOs and nearly all releases were made soloable. But still unlike other MMOs you can at least group up with 4 other people and the story will scale to accommodate that. If you do that in a traditional MMO you’d just trivialize the content. Case in point I did several living story releases with teams I dont think I ever quested in a team in any other MMO ever. In fact I’d say I have quite a few instances where the opposite is true. I can recall some cases where I was actually attacked in a couple of hardcore MMOs with open world PvP everywhere just because some players didnt want to share whatever they were farming.

He said half a year, so 6 months.
He said half a year, so 6 months.
Ah, my bad.
Still doesn’t really make sense though. He complains about the pace of new content, and yet he wants to wait even longer for said content?

I think he wanted to get a good chunk of story with a beginning and an end within each update, instead of getting a cliffhanger every 2-4 weeks
Man I just want a new class or if that’s too much to ask, new skills or more available weapons per profession and some new pvp content offcourse (getting sick of conquest!). I don’t care if Anet implements this through a new season or an expansion pack…
Waiting six months for content? People can’t even wait two weeks or two months for it. Half a year? No wonder developers don’t say anything.
I wouldn’t want my words twisted every time I said something either.
No I don’t want a season 3, I hate the living story and its characters with a passion.
Yep I want more living world, it’s lots of fun.

Yes we do. What are you basing your assumption on? Its obvious that the two are how devs/players communicate. Proof? CDI’s are the biggest ones. Balance designs. Most decisions made by Anet, if not all, can be affected by reddit/forums. Gemstore, temporary content, season 2, NPE, have all been affected. These are the only real places the two parties can talk.
So OP in answer to your question, it seems like a lot of people do want Season 3. Including me.
lol oh vayne, you and your white knighting. Thanks I can read. What I actually
herehear is that people want another season if it includes actual expansion sized content.
What I hear is a bunch of elitists that want a ton of free content/stuff to burn through/earn in a month so they can come back and complain some more about how this game is dying.
Guess it’s how you read it.
Peace.
And we have a winner.

Majority is still for LS on this tread sooo….Should Anet listen those 30+ people that says YES to LS or those like 5…that says NO hmmm?
Skrits love LS shinnies, if theres shinies they will love anything.

I think this statement pretty much sums it up. Despite all the off-topics, the name-calling, the flames of anyone with even a remotely positive attitude, the duplicate postings of the same repeated comments, and all that — the majority are in support of the Living World and look forward to its future.
At this point, to avoid this devolving into more back-and-forth on the nature of forum members instead of on the nature of the game we’ll close this thread with a reminder that everyone should stay on topic and not spin off into side conversations that do absolutely nothing to contribute to a thread.
