Various skills affect “nearby allies,” the main one I’m looking at is the effect from the water sigils (which heal nearby allies).

While these skills affect nearby allies do they affect the person that used them as well? Or do they strictly not include yourself?

From what I understand it does not. For example the Necro’s Life Transfer ability in our Death Shroud siphons Life from all nearby foes. This can be traited to “Heal Nearby Allies” yet we Necros do not get any healing from it ourselves.

Okay. Also in reading the banners that drop it appears that they affect “you and all nearby allies” which could’ve been condensed to “all nearby allies” if that were the case. Mmm… Looks like I’ll possibly be investing in new sigils.
