Per the patch notes:
“Leaderboards
We’re pleased to announce that Guild Wars 2 leaderboards begin recording data on March 26th.
Initially, the leaderboards will feature WvW rankings, PvP player rankings, and total achievement points—something for all player types in GW2.
As of March 26th, your existing scores will silently be posted to the leaderboards while we watch for the top leaders to stabilize. These scores will take into account some of your past accomplishments/rating.
Once stable, we will display the leaderboards for players. We currently don’t have an exact date for leaderboard public release.”
It will BEGIN recording as of today? Does this mean that the “data”, which I assume would be the mmr would reset as of today, March 26th? I don’t really see how it would need stabilizing if it’s not going to reset…you should have stability as of the last reset last month.
Please clear this up, thanks!

A:
The data won’t be changed for your character itself, we’re simply recording it to our live website starting today and we’ll need around a week or so to get everything stable on the website, prepare for the traffic load, and ensure the data is updating at the proper intervals. The stability is purely website and database related.
The PvP and achievement point leaderboards will initially show 100 players, and then we’ll expand them to show more once launched to ensure the sites stability one chunk at a time.
Read what you copy pasted:
These scores will take into account some of your past accomplishments/rating.
“your existing scores will silently be posted to the leaderboards while we watch for the top leaders to stabilize”
Does this mean only top (say top 100) players will get their data posted on these leaderboards? if so, why should i bother playing this game if i have no chance to be in top 100?

It was said that 1st days would only have top 100, then they would be increasing the range of players in the leaderbords

I hope so because the only point of having them is to know where you as a player stands in the entire thing. We don’t need to see everything but let us know what rank we are in the whole thing.
Thank you for clearing that up Colin, much appreciated.
I’d still like a detailed explanation of what will be ranked exactly and how do you come up with the ranking when it comes to pvp. I would like to know things like whether anything but a win in pvp can increase your rank positively at all. Imo, it should not. This so called MMR system has never been close to explained.
For those of us who solo Q alot. anything to help us out becuase we wont ever have a very high rating compared to people who premade alot.
Solo q coming?
First 100? So they are useless for everyone else.
They probably did it to avoid showing how many (little) people play PvP….
Bump b/c people on first page still asking about this

I’d delete my topic if I could.
Sounds like the leaderboards won’t be viewable in game
