tl;dr Completing events in various areas (Kryta, Ascalon, Orr) gives you event tickets that you exchange to get exotic gear from vendors or T6 (or maybe even lower tier) materials.

I recently found out that Ancient Karka Shell costs whopping 1000 shells, and while I think that there’s nothing wrong with having to work for your gear, I have to wonder why are we forced to grind enemies for it? Seriously, I have hard time grinding 250 Karka for shells, and I don’t even plan to grind 1000 Karka Veterans.

So, here’s an idea. Why wouldn’t we get an item that goes straight to our bank called “event ticket”? You could earn various tickets such as Ascalon Ticket, Orr Ticket, Krytan Ticket, and trade those for exotic gear. It would be a lot better than having to grind 1000 enemies in a single zone, since you can go through other zones and still earn enough Tickets to buy the best gear in game without being forced to grind.

Karma system works nice, but this could be a somewhat decent alternative, and a great improvement over Karka grinding.

In addition to gear, you could also use tickets in the Forge to get some T6 materials. In my opinion, it’s a lot better than grinding one type of enemy over and over.

While I don’t agree with the price of it I’m just here to mention that Ancient Karka Shell is not that great. I had it since that Karka event in Autumn and unless you have a rounder build (a bit of everything) it’s really not that good.
Now if to buy 1000 karka shells and not grind them you will need about 10 to 20 gold, which is a lot for an exotic.

I think the Ancient Karka Shell is a bit of an anomaly.

It was originally rewarded to everyone who did the finale of the Lost Shores event back in November. (Eventually, there was a bug where a lot of people didn’t get the chest, but they got sent the items later.)

I think originally it was intended to be exclusive to that event and never available again. When they decided to make it available to everyone else they were still trying to keep it rare and special.

Most exotic items and even Ascended items are not that expensive so the ticket system would not really be much use for anything else.

I know that you can easily get Exotics in Orr for Karma, and that’s a great non-grinding way, for me at least, and ascended gear for laurels is also great, although it takes some time, but the main reason for making this thread are those merchants in Southsun that sell exotic gear for 2g and 70 shells per piece.

I’ve been grinding so long for my 250 Karka shells, and it’s getting really tedious after a while, so I’m just throwing some alternative ways besides Karma to buy exotic gear. Let’s face it, Southsun is more friendly and accessible than Orr, but still the Karka grinding process takes out the fun out of it.

I really don’t mind that it takes time and effort to get your gear, but killing one type of enemy over and over, just isn’t fun, so this “event ticket” system could give us at least some diversity to earn exotic gear? Don’t want to grind Karka in Soutsun, do events in Queensdale or anywhere you like.

Play the game at your own pace, anyway you like and still earn your gear without grinding.
