So daily login rewards started Dec. 14th, 2014. And in that time we have currently received approximately 136 Chests of Black Lion Goods. And not once have I ever obtained a Black Lion Key from them. I’ve gotten every single other item multiple times except a key. Something is super fishy here. I’m not complaining about getting free rewards just for logging in. It’s the principle of the thing. It’s clearly tailored to be a very rare drop. IMO there should be an even chance among all the items. For the past 2 years I have been logging in 6/7 days per week and I have never received a key. Can anyone say for certain that they received a key from one of these chests?

not sure how any one can come up with unfounded idea of getting black lion chest keys from daily log in rewards . as it has never ever done that at all since the game has been out since 2012 . and looking at this daily rewards list I see noting at all about black lion chest keys https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Login_rewards

being even given out at all for logging in every day as a reward and as far as Chest of Black Lion Goods the chance of getting a black loin chest key from that even is some where of 1 in 90 billion or so give or take . in other words it is so super very rare to happen it really does not happen . they just let you think it happens or might happen .

I have received 2 keys from the Chest of Black Lion Goods over the years.

I can confirm keys do drop from the black lion goods chests. I have only gotten one or two since they started the daily login rewards, but they do drop.

yeah, I get keys. think like maybe 4% or less drop rate tier.

I received my 1st key ever from the login chest yesterday… for all these years, I didn’t realize we could even get keys from that chest

Low drop rates mean most people won’t get enough chests to see these.

If the chance is 1% of a key per Chest of BL Goods, then after 136 chests, there’s a 25% chance you won’t see any. If the chance is 1:250, there’s a 58% chance you won’t see any.

I have gotten keys from the login chests, and one just recently.

I actually got a key abut a month ago. Remember Keys are more rare… the whole RNGesus thing.

I got a key about a year ago and it is still in my bank. but that is it for past 2.5 years.

I noticed something interesting about RNG which makes me believe it is not Random at all and should be called PNG (preassigned number generator).

I get 7 [Black Lion Salvage Kit] in a row this year between February and March and another 8 last year at the same time. Also I got 3 [Mystic Forge Stone] during April and another 5 about same time last year (April-May).

This happens on JP chest loots too. I had same loot for long period of time on same character and same chest which is different from other toon on same chest but it is similar for same toon, which makes me believe that SEED used for RNG is a combination of Player account name (Id?), Character name(id?) and partial date may be tried to be smart and put an MD5 or SHA1 hash on it too. Although this makes it unique to not be seen in big sample data size, but in an isolated sample size it is visible enough. e.g. looting 8 green heavy chest armor of same type and same stat within same month specially when the toon looting, is using light armor.

What I’m trying to say is you might not even see a single key for rest of your play time. make another toon, and loot chests with that. Maybe you get lucky this time.

rng is rng… often times when i roll with random.org i get the same roll sometimes even 10+ times in a row with insanely low odds. also speaking of rng, got my 2nd precursor across 1701 days today.

A single account’s worth of weekly BL items isn’t enough data to establish a pattern. The drop rates for the BL keys are too low.

I got at least one key sofar, probably only one, from daily login chests.
I was surprised though it was even possbile.

A guildy of mine just pinged one in our guildchat approx 1-2 mins after the reset last night. And I’ve only got 1 since they’ve implemented the system, but ages ago now.

Two keys here from login chests.

Running tally for me is 3 keys out of 27 chests… I realy should collect my daily login more often >.<

I don’t recall ever getting a key from logins. I dropped a lot of them from mobs tho.
