GW2 DEV impromptu Interview In The Mists
They are annoying but I wouldn’t go as far as to call them OP.
wow is my engi really that broken?
i had no idea, he survives and kills fine,
i wonder how its supposed to work.
Nice. No mention about prority on Ele bug fixing or buff.
If little or nothing is being done to fix/improve the broken Ele profession this coming patch, I am dropping my Ele. I am not going for wait for a year before Anet admitted that they broke the Ele class when they over-nerfed them from beta stage.
I am not going to continue to spend real dollars in this game to play one of the weakest and most broken profession. Let’s see.
The 100+ elementalist bugs will hopefully be addressed.

They probably have something in store for eles as well. Just probably not as many bullet points as the engs/rangers.

Yea probably a nerf to bunker builds I hope they fix RTL because imo its the most annoying ele bug
I really hope they buffs the classes instead of nerfing it down.
If they found it “imbalance”, then buff those low-tier classes.
Not nerf down higher tier classes.
Especially when some people complaint about thieves in pvp, they took a short cut of nerfing them down and affected their PVE capabilities. Same goes for guardian. Last time, they nerfed their GS symbol because of retaliation due to some pvp’ers complaints. Now Guardians GS are 1/3 weaker because of double cast time to cast symbols in PVE. That nerf made less survivability for guardians.
They can nerf pvp all they want but please don’t make those classes harder in PVE.
No one likes it if their main are nerfed down in this game where you can never stat progress.
If they nerf them down so badly, even the lost shore won’t be able to distract them away from the rage and complaints. Players are gonna rage badly.

Target of target and player cast bars are low priority <— seriously??
For an action based mmorpg?
Omg Anet what have you been smokin?i don’t even know what these mean, but i’ll guess:
target of target means seeing in the UI who your target is aiming. for a game that you rarely if ever have to target someone (i do just fine with target assist), it really is pointless.
player cast bars, i assume is being able to see your enemy’s cast time and what they’re using. once again, pointless in a game that hardly has cast bars, and most last 3 seconds at most, and where each skill is visually unique.
i see those being very useful in non-action MMOs, but in action MMOs, the visual hints are more than enough.
For ANY action game it is incredibly important to have extremely clear visual feedback so you actually can react to stuff. Atm this game fails at that quite a bit, too many mobs have auto attacks that go off instantly, some have charged attacks that aren’t very clear or distinct at all, alot also get completely inundated with particle effects making it impossible to see their animations at all.
If EVERY mob attacks like an Ettin it would be better overall, but even then, particles blind everyone. Having cast bars wouldn’t be a big deal at all, whether they add cast bars or make everything much easier to see, it doesn’t matter, but one of those needs to.
And gw1 had very short cast times (1/4 to 1 second) and had cast bars, one of the best features of GW1 IMO. Very fluid/clear ability visual feedback and would even let you read the description of the abilities used so you could learn faster.
Thank you engineer really need this. Anyway how do some people not know what bullet points are? Is it called differently in other countries?
If by need it you mean they need Grenade and bomb kit nerfed with some other stuff tweaked slightly to be brought up then yeah they do. Hopefully it finally happens this patch.
Um no, engineers do not need nerfed. We need buffed, as you will see in the patch notes tomorrow, I can already guarantee, if not I will eat spaghetti through my nose.
If Engineers get buffed with no nerfs to Grenades or bombs then we all might as well quit because obviously Anet doesn’t care about balancing.
Bombs and grenades are literally engineers only method at dealing halfway decent damage, and both are avoided reasonably easy in PvP.
I would love to see grenades nerfed if engineer main weapons did damage worth anything.
Engineers aren’t even close to OP though, sorry. If you are afk yes grenades are kind of OP.
I bet this is a tonne of split powers >< doh!

aren’t you just glad that you don’t have to spend real dollars in this game to play it?

and in GW1, you spent the whole time staring at the UI, which is the opposite of what ANet wants to do on GW2.
they might improve the visual cues on combat, but i don’t see them adding more information on the UI to keep you staring at it.
Forget it, you are missing the point still. It is not that the ele is too difficult or that i dont like it, it is that it is the only class in the game so dependent on game mechanics. It is not the switching of attunements, it is not the low hp, or the different strats with different weapons, it is not any of those things, it is the fact that it is the only class in game that NEEDS to use the game-wide mechanics even to solo. If they were specific mechanics to the Ele then it would be understandable, but these are game wide mechanics that ONLY the ele is forced to NEED to know. If you all are still going to treat me like I do not know how to play the Ele then I just don’t know what to say. It is not the Ele that needs fixing (other than the list of known bugs) it is the other classes that need to NEED the game mechanics as much as the Ele.
I’m another Elementalist that prefers Dagger/Dagger. Combos aren’t a big deal for my build, which is why I’m often a little surprised when someone makes the point you are making. I’m not saying you are wrong, but I think it’s more build dependent than you think.
I do agree that no profession should require one to fully utilize combos in order to match the level of capability of other professions that can completely ignore their combo fields. If there are builds that are “kittened” with out focused use of combos, then those builds actually need to be buffed. the solution is not to try to force all other professions to be reliant on combo fields in order to achieve parity. In fact, many professions/builds have few or no self combos available to them!
In the mean time, if you are open to experimentation, you may want to try out some Dagger/Dagger builds in order to experience Elementalist with out self combo dependency. I tried all weapon sets and a number of builds and personally find D/D to be the most fun, by a fair margin. There will be a learning curve and the strategies will require some adjustment, but you may find you like it and can appreciate the break from having to worry about self combos.
