This would appear to be a theme with them: People complain about this or that. Anet gives people what they want pendulum style, by swinging in the other direction. Rather than keeping what they used to have in any capacity (e.g. options) they throw out the old entirely and give people the new exclusively.

Players wanted a notification of when and where the world event was going on, since it it was hitting multiple zones at certain times. Situation would have been comparable if there was one announcement just for the Scarlet invasion and a separate one for when and where the invasion was happening, and another for winterfest. Two of them are not needed.

Yes I get it you have spvp leagues going on, you have the esl thingie going on as well, you also have the buff on my bar for the esl. I get it already now let me turn them off when I want as well.

Back in the HoT beta someone found a way to remove the popup.

There is extra information I wouldn’t mind seeing on my screen, such as world boss timers – with it being completely optional, of course. Because it needs to be pointed out to anet that features should be optional and not globally enforced).

When I read that I couldn’t avoid but put it on the light of the “new concept” that started with that shinny NPE: “You cannot dismiss them or choose other type of info because we think that these are what you are needed and have to see.” :P

You know, it’s kittening criminal that there’s not some sort of ingame boss timer function. You know, like a “boss hunter” NPC in LA or something that would direct players to various zones. I have some new people in guild recently and they had no idea there were so many world bosses to fight because the game doesn’t really tell you this.

That was all fine and dandy when the game was new and world bosses were special and mysterious events. However, they are now on a static schedule like HoT zone metas, and their zones should be updated with timers or progress bars to fit.

It is amazing how they made such a great informative UI that is unobtrusive and they they just tacked this “feature” on top essentially ruining all their hard work.

Easily solved with optional settings, though that might be too logical and simple an idea for Arena Net.

So, I have “dailies” and little announcements in the upper right hand corner of my screen, such as “pvp leagues are active” and “forsaken thicket – spirit vale.” I do not want them on my screen, but I can’t seem to get rid of them. Is there any way I can hide them from my screen. Thanks!

I second this. Get rid of the clunky stuff on the top right corner… Don’t need to know about English as a second language league.

Adverts? more like nag text. We should have an option to disable it.
