Gold made in the Silverwastes
The amount is random, because the droops are ultimately random. If someone gets a good or rare drop, the values increase significantly.
Income is usually RNG based so it runs in ranges. Even if someone was to post a 10g/h avg your personal results may vary.

Yes, but has anyone done any math or data on it? At all?

Hmm That doesn’t really help since they don’t say how long it took. I guess I’ll just have to do some testing myself once I get a little more time to play. Thanks anyway.

And no doubt your test will reveal something else.. which is why RNG is RNG.
So if your test only yields 11G/hour does that mean you wont be joining the braindeads?
heh, 1G/h would already be a win for me, never ever got 10G/h
I farm SW often and I’d say it’s an average 10 gold/hour.
Too late at night for me to go forum diving, but a while back someone did a very in depth set of analysis on it opening thousands of bags (like the one above but more in depth), IIRC he got like 7-8g/hour but didn’t sell everything and the thought in the post was had he done so he’d be looking at 10g/hour. Now that’s heavy chest farming stuff (bores me to sleep).
That said, that doesn’t mean you go into SW for an hour you’ll be guarenteed ~10g, no, it means that on average over the course of some period of time that you’ll get about that breakdown.
Your luck in many different facets will affect your outcome.
It is the best money for the effort I know of, and up there on money to time ratios. You’d have to have a pretty darn good group to beat it(or even match it) through dungeons for example.

There are other ways to make the same money without beeing dependant on other
players ^^
Also there was just a thread about this :

Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Do you harvest every node along the way? Do you break down all armor? Forge all rare 80 weaps? Combine all rare sigils for Superior? Sell your ectos? Do events along the way? Maximize VR by moving from fort to fort? Multiple Breach kills? Kill every Vet you pass? Ph’s to spawn more? Spawn some Champions on the route? Buy loot bags with shovels for mats?
Some of these make sense sometimes, and not at others, but it all adds up, wherever you play. There is no set gold/per/hour because there’s lots of ways to make gold. Ten gold/hr is relatively easy maintained average for standard chest run with mining.

If you read the page, the guy says
“I was trying for 200 a day (about 2 hours a day)”
Thats ~100 chests/hr.
I can confirm this is the rate at which you will earn loot bags in a chest train:
~30-35 chests per rotation around the map/20 minutes
~90-100 chests/hr
It’s nearly impossible to say exactly how much money silverwastes farming is worth, since hardly anyone keeps careful track of all the variables, including:
- Whether they include time spent acquiring crests
- Do they include time spent looking for a farming map? Do they just accept whatever map they find?
- Whether they salvage everything or just some things.
- Plus, do they salvage and sell on the TP while farming? Or throw stuff in the bank and salvage/sell stuff later?
- Whether they open bags on an L51-55 toon or an L80.
- Whether they use custom sell prices or sell to highest offer immediately.
And so on.
Any one of those variables can have a profound impact on earnings/hour and make it nearly impossible to compare results across different reports.
It is, however, completely safe to say that, all else being equal:
- Chest farming results in the speediest loot accumulation.
- Event + breach/vinewrath farming is — at worst — competitive with other farms in the game (dungeons, chasing world bosses, champ farms).
- Your mileage will vary, compared to other people and even compared to yourself.
tl;dr try it yourself. If it doesn’t bore you to tears, keep doing it and learn to perfect your technique (which is easier to do than other types of farming). You’ll laugh all the way to the bank (with a detour to pick up gold at the TP NPC).
yeah probably 10 gold per hour
You can always get lucky and get more or less, but it should be around that range.

What they mean is keeping a spreadsheet of drops, their value and gold over time, so that a number of different peoples’ experiences with the RNG can be averaged.
Quantitative.
Probably the best way to keep a spreadsheet to account for varying values is to just note down specific amounts of coin, and item drops and the dates for the time spent farming.

It really depends on where your at in game also because if your a heavy crafter your holding on to a larger sum that your taking in. “Thats me”. I’m not raking it in like many say they do because I don’t sell off everything I take in.
sorry for the noob question, how does exactly one farms silverwaster? i have joined the event trains but i hardly do more than 2 or 3g per hour, whats the method for farming?
Best way to make gold hands down is flipping small profits and going to sleep wake up the next day laugh at all the poor saps you robbed and do it again.
From my experience, if you mix doing vine-wrath and chest runs. On average its 10g/hour. I also involves selling everything instead of salvaging.
How to do SW:
Play the events or chest farm, and once the cycle is over, LOOK AT THE INVENTORY and note all the T6 mats, cores, lodestones, expensive cloth craftim materials and so on. THOSE, if sold, make the gold. It’s really easy to forget about them if you use “deposit collectables”.

ty for the info how do exactly the chest farm work in comparisson to event trains?

By far, the best response to this post.
There are soooooo many factors to include when trying to figure gold per hour in sw. Keep in mind, you are not going to be able to accurately come to a definitive number. RNG is RNG.
I’ve seen lots of posts with people stating they are not making much in sw…..or as much as others in sw (shovels/gold). I don’t think people are maximizing their time while there. You can’t just stay in one fort or one map and think you are going to get the shovels you are looking for. You need to move and you need to move a lot. I avg 3-4 shovels per breach (from 0/4 – 4/4). I jump from map to map when chest farming and breaching. Usually I’m just picking up the chests that were already opened by others and then jump to the next map (unless it’s a good farm, then I stay). Same with breaching. I’m off to the next map once we complete VW and pacman It’s a never ending cycle during peak times.
There’s value in account bound items, not just what you can instantly sell.

Buy a bunch of keys(and have shovels ready if you got them), then follow the tag and wait for the chest to be unburied, unlock and move on. Thats it really.
Also from what I’ve heard its more profitable to open champ/chest bags on a level ~50
character due to downgraded mats being worth more. Haven’t tested this personally since all characters are 80 so not sure.
Casual silverwasters can probably average 8g an hour.
If you need money, silverwastes is definitly NOT the right place to go. Not even for brain afk farmers.

On the contrary, it’s one of the easiest places to accumulate high-value loot, especially if you open champ bags on L53-55 characters.

Event trains are so you can get crests which you use to buy keys for chestfarms. It is up to you how long how far you wanna go.
For me, I stopped doing all chest trains because most of the stuff from them is common mats, whereas the Bandit Loot Bags (or whatever they’re called) which you buy for 10 crests each, give rare mats.
also, farming guaranteed yellows is good, cause globs on top of silk which i use up and do not sell.
Ideally, I need a ratio of about 1/3 common and 2/3 rare to make most profit via TP after reprocessing / crafting. I dont even count the 2-4 gold exotics at all, just a rough gross.
yes, i spend anywhere from 1/2 to 2 hours per week just doing that. but it multiplies my profit tremendously.
you dont actually make gold IN silverwastes, you make it on stuff you get FROM silverwastes + other suppliments, but still like 80%-90% from silverwastes. anyone that does not comprehend that is making just a small fraction of what they could be, hence you see so many low end 10-20g / hr posts.
also, its not just gold amount itself, but stuff you end up using yourself which saves you a great deal.
yes, your profit will vary, there are so many factors at play, mainly drop or chest / bag RNG and TP flactuations which swing wildly on everything from common to uncommon to rare mats, even gem vs gold prices affect this, when people spend gems to buy gold to buy mats, you make more profit, vice versa is also true. if gold gets too expensive, it mat prices usually go down cause supply increases, but, then there are few people making legendaries and they spike up, then down again very rapidly, etc.
so all you can really do is just observe and notice the patterns, when you see a sign of a dip or spike, act accordingly.

What is the best place for money then?
https://de.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3i6z28/20k_emboroidered_bandit_purses_the_aftermath/
2837g/20k purses equals roughly 14s18c/purse.
So to make 14g / hour you need to get an average of 100 bags each hour.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
fastest run i got so far was 12min(incl all fort+bandit champ) so if ppl realy want to do it fast, you can calculate 15min/round including some preparations/breach+vw/little breaks.
Each run are about 35 chests on average, so 140 bags/h are possible (if ppl use thier shovels/you got some nice portals and a bit of preclear for events). Taking Beldin numbers, you end up with 20g/h.
However, “casual” runs, where ppl dont use shovels fast, let 5ppl do events, while waiting at mid upscaling event and dont set/use portals, you get like 30min/run, which are your noted 10g/h.
This includes opening/storing/salvaging/selling stuff you found on the fly, so you may need to add 5min a week, where you sell all materials, you collected.
It is the fastest gold per hour so just do it instead of asking for numbers. If u do a chest run and get 100 champ bags what do I expect the person to do? Open till inventory full. Log every item then check tp to see every value. Log that then tell you exactly? Then are you to expect the exact same if you open 100 bags? Just go there unstead of typing. No gold is made typing unless u create fake threads about the shortage of an item after u bought a kitten ton and all the sheep believe it.
Honestly I have no idea what the rate is. I spend time in the zone for a week doing all the events, champions, harvesting etc. Sunday evening after guild missions, is when I spend the time opening bags and selling stuff. Usually get 60-80g on that Sunday night, but I really couldn’t say how many hours I spent during the week to get all that.

There are better ways of making gold than silverwaste. 10g a hour is super low and almost a waste of time IMO. Even if you have high magic find and good RNG, I still think the gold per hour is low for the time investment you need to spend in Silverwaste.
Playing the market will be better use of your time. I spend a bit of time researching market prices. Also using this website http://pwniversity.com/gw2/farming to know where to farm matierals with the least amount of time spent.
Making alts and doing map completion and crafting legendaries to sell for gold is also amazing, takes a bit more time but it’s worth it if you are good at speed running maps.

Yes, if you happen to have tons of T6 mats and lodestones just sittin’ around….
This only works if you already have 3000g+ to invest with. If you have 80g to your name, this is about the worst suggestion you could possibly make.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….

What are you talking about? I suggest learning about basic economics and playing the market on MMOS before making such a false comment.
Every MMO is the same when it comes to the economy, same as real life. You don’t need 3k g to invest with that’s silly. As you increase your wealth you will see bigger returns of course.
If you read my post you would see I linked a website that gives detailed information on where to farm every material in the game, aka learning the market and researching prices and going out to farm those materials worth the most to sell on the TP will give you your start up cash.
Silverwaste is terrible for pure gold farming.
P.S I can take that 80g and flip into 200+g easy, just have to use your brain a tad bit. I played harder games like Archeage and made thousands of gold using a spreadsheet and playing the market.

lol smh. Playing the TP is my primary source of income. I have spreadsheets galore. All I’m saying is that suggesting someone who wants to make money quickly to make alts to do map completion so you can make legendaries is about the worst advice you can give.
Your comment is like those How to Draw an Owl photos.
Step 1: Start with two circles
Step 2: Draw the rest of the owl.
P.S. I bet I can turn 80g into 200g on the TP faster than you can. Yea I said it.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
The thing is, Silverwaste can yield different result depending on a lot of variable.
You get almost zero gold, you mostly get stuff that you can sell. So the amount of gold will depend on how much you can sell them. Over time a lot of the material that you get from SW dropped in price because of the intense farming going on there. Especially Cores and T5.
Using those crafting material save you more gold. So someone that need those material will yield a better reward than those that sell them to buy something else on the TP.
It also depent on what you gonna do with those items. Do you sell to the TP, salvage, put in the mystic forge?
What do you do at silverwaste. Break + VW wasn’t that good at the beginning of the event because it failed or took a long time. Now they are both quick and worth doing. Do you get maps quickly or do you have to wait a long time to get on them? Even when you go on a chest farm map, do you have a good commander? People use shovel quickly or the zerg wait 1mi at each chest? Do you gather stuff along the road and do you kill some of the ennemies that give good loots?
All those thing will yield different result. 10 gold per hour is a good lower average. There is ways to get more if you know what you do and are lucky.
made thousands of gold using a spreadsheet and playing the market.
I think I just found something that sounds even less fun than chest farming.
made thousands of gold using a spreadsheet and playing the market.

Use to do that in Eve, its not something you really actively do but more passively, so you are usually doing something else while doing it. Where as with chest farming you usually have to be more focused on following the tag. So both are equally boring, personally don’t bother doing market stuff in GW2.
