Back when Soule first left the GW franchise, the quality of music took a bit of a dip with the release of the MIDI shanty music for the Bazaar of the Four Winds.

But towards the end of Season 1 – and especially throughout Season 2 – the music has improved so much! Not just compositionally, but if I remember correctly, Anet had released a video about how they were recording the music with an actual orchestra. Which is awesome!

So congratulations to the new composers! There is a whole list of them, and I’m not quite sure who did what, but it’s all very fun to listen to. I love video game music, and it’s nice to hear this higher quality of music being created for this game.

It’s usually Maclaine Diemer, Leif Chappelle, and Stan LePard who composes the music now. As far as I know, every single new song released since Season 2 started has been recorded by a live orchestra which automatically (imo) increases the quality of the soundtrack ten-fold.

As for the ending of season 1, Leif Chappelle did Battle On The Breachmaker, and Maclaine Diemer did Tower of Nightmares. Maclaine also did the Twisted Marionette track.
