Honestly if after all this build up they aren’t multi tiered with the highest tier requiring insane effort/benefits ill be pretty disappointed. I hope it won’t be just another casual time sink/rp spot. And hopefully we see a day with any alliance support at all.
I am so bewildered why Guild Halls were not implemented from the inception of this game.
I honestly am just praying at this point, that when they come there will be some hardcore element. I mean casuals need there stuff and thats cool, but right now legendaries are the most hardcore thing in this game and yea… lol.
I want a ship for my Guild Hall. But really, I’d settle for anything where more than 5 people can enter an instance together.
I’m with the OP. I’m also quite wealthy, so in addition to taking months and months to acquire (based on a normal 12 hour per day investment) it should also require a large amount of real money. Something like $1500-10,000 would be suitable. Let’s make it so only one or two people can have it in the entire game. That would be a great addition to the game for the few, the proud. Who’s with me?
I am getting more and more enraged by the lack of Guild Halls.
The FAT LIE “we have taken everyrthing that was good on Gw1…” makes me so angry.
Guild Halls ware one of the best aspects of Gw1, and it is not in the game after a WHOLE YEAR!
THe minimal permanent contant that was added costed us a year? I man how slow can development progress? Other games rel a whole expansion by this time…THey cant even “fix” the hobo sack on engineer…when its a simple “on and off” option.
How many devs are working on this game at all? I was happy that they starting to see this….but isnt this a bit late?
Anyhow…i promote Guild Halls, and GvG, please do implement it alredy!!!

Snow-man finishers in Spvp is more important.
btw i imagine gw2 engine so limited that housing system will be an instanced private zone with limited access, where much older games you could just buy guild houses on the cities…oh well GH gw1 system in the best game of 2012 stills better than nothing….

Hopefully, this will be the next big permanent thing they are working on. Along with GUILD ADMINISTRATION. Our guild is running out of room and there is still no way to know when the last time a member logged in. We can’t give members any time limits as to how long they can be away, as we have no way to monitor it. Sorry don’t mean to hijack another guild hall request thread, but guild admin isn’t functional, after almost a year, and don’t get me started on guild banks.

There.
In LOTRO I near enough broke my butt saving for a guild hall (or kinship houses in that game) only for people to never use the thing.
I’d prefer player housing

We used our guild hall all the time in GW 1. My guess is you will purchase and outfit them with influence and guild merits. Maybe rank 8 in Politics to get some portals built and rank 8 in economy to get a bank built?
I’m hoping for Guild airships.
I went there.
So for really small guilds can we get a plot?
With no requirement of accommodations and just influence?
I’ll go with personal housing
I can imagine a Guild Hall system like this :
There are atleast like 5-8 tipes of Guild halls, with differeant themes like, Egyipt, Norn, Sylvari, Asura. Some sort of Krytan theme, with a koi pond and hanging gardens.
They each have a differeant pvp map (that is explorable) attached to them, and the GvG can take place in there.
(this map has displayable pets and other fancy stuff the guild unlocks , {with gvg points maybe?} but only when there is no combat on this map. Others can also charm these special unlocked pets displayed there)
This map can also be upgraded to certaint point, like Hp for gates, Some Npc guards. Buff giving fountain and so on…Maybe from gold? Or influance?
The Guild Hall itself could be fast traveled from anywhere, from “guild sheet” window. without a cost, and traveling back is free also.
It had no Merchants, armor repairs, crafting stations and crafting supplyers to begin with, but could be unlocked with influance, or some sort of other guild currency, or gold.
It also had a Dueling area (unlockable ofc), that had a record of wins and losses, palyers participating in it.
Also it had a LOT of unlockable or buyable forniture, with differeant themes ofc.
For example : The leader wants to make the guild named “Riders of Doom”, (that is based on the theme of Thulsa Dooms snake cult from Conan the Barbarian) guild fitting for that theme and invests a lot of gold (or other currency) on pillars with snake ornaments, and marble floor with persian motives on it. Also some colorfull pillovs and a gold Snake oltar, with some iron ornamented torches. Carpets hanging down from the wall with some flags, that show of the ahivements of the guild.
He ofc can place them, and can give rights to the officers to manage them.
There could be buyable drink vendors or waitresses…
I am sure that Guild Halls could be implemted in an AMAZING WAY.
Abaut small guilds…i hope there will be guild allyances, and they can visit eacothers guild hall, like in Gw1. Personal housing is fine, but its only for decoration.
If you ask me Guild Halls are (were) important places, where you can meet your guild mates personally anytime. You can make gatherings, and guild activites, whitch is animportant thing in mmo-s . Two character meeting physically is a LOT differeant then spamming a chat window.
You can clearly feel, the community exists and its not simply a guild rooster. Those characters are out there dooing stuff. And you dont have the feeling, you can barely meet them. Or are unlreachable. I hope that did not sound like Mike O’Brien.
I hope it sounded more like Colin Johanson. I am sure he would feel the same abaut this.
Anyhow pls keep this topic alive and add more and more ideas, i am waiting for Guild Halls since beta, another dissapointment after waiting so moch would kill the game and my trust in devs. Do make it GOOD!

Like Misty Red Rose said, in GW the guild hall was used all the time. It was usually the default location to log characters, since the cities took a little longer to load. Guild activities were organized there, meetings, chit chat, trading/giving away, inventory management, everything happened there.
Also you needed a guild hall to do gvg, so there’s that.
Keeping the topic alive!
I really enjoy Guild Wars 2. Played Gw1 when it came out, it was the first mmo where all my friends were together in the same game. Funny, with Gw2 it happened again.
The name is Guild Wars:
Bring back Guild Halls.
Bring back GvG.
Guild plots/halls/bases/strongholds/fort/castles/etc is becoming more important as the player base and guild sizes are growing so much.

EDIT: Hovering over an entry will give you the last update time stamp. The game only updates the ranking when a user has logged in.
Bring back Guild Halls.
Bring back GvG.
GvGs are already active within the game but must be purchased via the gem store. See “Custom Arenas” → Allowance by guild.

that was a bad joke
they could simply redesign the guild halls from guild wars 1.
i’m sure people will still love them.

if he said that in front of me i would punch him xD
do people still not get that we dont want to go use a character completely different to the one we spend 1000’s of hours outfitting, not for stats but for the looks we worked for, sam goes for dueling, whats so hard about implementing and arena to duel and gvg in, just give me Guild halls :’C
I’m hoping for Guild airships.
I went there.
What I would love to see is something like Garenhoof in Kessex Hills; a town with a harbour and ships. A large town hall, for meetings, and all the buildings providing player housing for members.
Having a access to a ships and an airship, with multiple decks, would give us so much scope for RP that it would be a long time before we even looked at another game!
I wouldn’t hold your breath. Id bet most of arenanets resources are tied up with the four living story teams and trying to propel this game as an esport.
I once wrote my take on guild halls, which was that guilds would be able to claim one of the hundreds of caves/buildings/forts/villages in the open world as their own. Instancing is so last decade.
I’ll stop wasting my breath.

The game isn’t called Guild Wars because it has guilds and they fight each other…

Yeah we all know that the name of the game is misleading. That has nothing to do with the fact that Guild Halls is a long-awaited favourite feature of many, and GvG is a close second.

Then why continue to beat this dead horse? You’ll either get Guild Halls or you won’t.
I remember back before launch there were plans for Guild halls, but they were removed prior to release. I’d have to do some research to dig up some links.
But it makes sense the Guild Halls of old would be around, and some might new guilds of the Dragon Age have begun to spring up. I’d really like to see Guild Halls be worked into the WvW somehow.
Maybe have a variety of locations, some in PvE areas for Dungeons and Exploring, some in the Mists for WvW, and others just instanced in cities for sPvP/Crafting
The devs actually listen to their player base, so its good to bring up guild halls from time to time so they don’t forget about them! The irony is, they probably get more complaints directed at them because they do actually give us what we want from time to time.

- Actually that’s almost certainly why it’s called Guild Wars. Some obscure lore fact could have easily been slapped on afterwards.
- What does it matter what the game is called? People expect a sequel to have similar elements they liked.

- It’s not at all. The lore fact was the very beginning of GW1 and was a heavily prevalent scene in the tutorial as well as the entire game. You didn’t play GW1 without knowing what The Guild Wars were and how they affected the world around you. GvG was even guided by lore, as it was turned into a sport by the Xaishen who ran the Battle Isles after they saw the affect the The Guild Wars had on the warring nations of Tyria.
- No, it doesn’t. However, when GW2 was first announced we were told that it would be a completely different game than GW1 and may not include many elements. We were warned. We understand. You new, entitled players seem to think you have it all figured out and that you deserve GvG because it’s in the name of the game and GW1 had it. GW1 also had HA, RA, 6 PvP modes, Cantha, Elona, Henchmen, Heroes, mountains of skins, more traditional combat, a steep learning curve, and millions of viable build opportunities waiting to be discovered and shift the meta. Does GW2 have any of that? No. Either deal with it like the rest of us or quit.
there is no definitive answer to the true meaning of the game’s name, and I don’t think it’s important. but it really drives me up a wall when people try to claim it’s based on lore when we have a pvp-focused game’s most prominent pvp mode called nearly the same thing. comparing the 2 things it makes much more sense they named the game after their main pvp offering. when i said they could have added the lore afterwards, I meant during development, after conceptualizing gvg and added some lore in the pve world. there are rumors there wasn’t even supposed to be a pve campaign in early design phases. the entire game, top to bottom, took pvp seriously and it stands to reason this was the genesis of the game’s name.
as to your second point, i’m not buying this “entitled” player mentality. and i already quit, but i am having enough fun in the forums, thank you very much
*Punches the dead Horse.
*Kicks the dead Horse. > Horse moves a bit.
I think it’s still alive!
I understand full and well about the lore of the Guild Wars. It won’t stop me though from hoping for these features in this game nor will it stop me from discussing it.
I see only opportunities, do expect them right now? No of course not.
LoLoL will I quit because there isn’t any? Never!
*Kicks the horse one more time.
We want guild halls.
