Hi, so far over the years there is no progression in the characters
Every release, even HoT the way I see it is pure cosmetics
I know, some might not like this post but let’s be honest, everything about the game now is pure cosmetics, legendary armor will have the same stats as ascended only difference is skins
Every weapon drop in game or as a reward from any future content does not have any stats increase, only cosmetics
And I am really annoyed by the lack of progression, most of HoT maps are dead now
I don’t know what you guys are planning but I hope there is a dramatically change

I’m not Obsessed , I’m POSSESSED!

The cosmetic stance is no different to GW1 10 years ago, the alternative is bigger numbers power kitten racing.

-wvw rank progression, fighting for your server.
-Improving your skills and learning new builds
-PVE achievement progression
-PVP progression
- gear progression
- Gold/purchased legendary progression
- Legendary line progression
- Masteries
- Alts
- doing all above with friends

What else is there?

Hmmm maybe you should look for another game that better suits your ideal of end game progression. Besides future masteries that I guess will be added as we progress the living story I fail to see how what Anet plans to add will satisfy you

What form of progression are you after? There will be no raised level caps by their own admission and there would be uproar if they tried. Same with new gear tiers. This just isn’t that sort of game.

HoT added masteries and elite specialisations, so set the framework for progression beyond pure cosmetics.

What else are you after?

Sorry I meant by progression “character stats”
For example legendary should have higher stats than ascended
New weapons that drop does not have to only be by their skin, increase the stats on it!
I know that ANet direction is about horizontal progression not vertical but by time every single release, living story or expansion will be more cosmotic items “different skins in other words with thfriends same stats”
What makes you different from the player next to you?
You have glowing armor weapons and he is not yet both have the same character stats
Anyhow, this is just my opinion after playing the game since release so yea I had to speak about it even if you don’t like what I say

What do you think would be better about the game if they gave us increased stats?

Increasing the stats will not happen. You’re are perfectly entitled to want that and that is fine and feeding that back is fine, but the reality is, this is not the foundation this game was built on nor is it why people play this game. Not increasing stats is of huge importance to a the core of this community and is why it can’t happen, let alone wont.

What makes you different from the player next to you? Your build. Your weapon sets. Your utility choices. Your wardrobe. These are where Anet can build upon to make characters more unique. This world is rich with players in a vareity of different looks, using build, skills, weapons they want to use.

Compare that to say Lotro, where a Champion for years had the same skills as another Champion and everyone was a cookie cutter, because everyone grew identically with their profession. The stats didn’t really imply much, since the variety was so stale.

Progression can and should be something beyond just raising those numbers just a bit more each time.

That has never been part of the ANet’s philosophy for the games that they have made in the last 10 years or so. Why would they change now?

The game was designed to work as you described, so I’m not sure why people are surprised that it works that way. If that isn’t your cup of tea, perhaps some other MMO is out there that will keep you busy until the next major content release of GW2.

I doubt the game will go beyond The armour qualities we have.

The real question is how to make challenging content without making it a huge meta grind again.

And will they add more stats or stats variation, or can they even? So will we be doing new evens for armour skins and just trashing the gear after we get it because there are no new stat options?

Legendary also means that people will be able to change out the stats whenever they feel like it and have a plethora of stats to choose from.

People act like that isn’t a huge deal, but when you get out and pve and want to fill various roles, having the ability to actually change out your stats along with your build without having to carry bags upon bags of extra gear it’s an insane and almost unfair quality of life improvement.

I’d love to have that option. And from what I’ve seen of the cosmetics of legendary gear I’d probably be transmuting most of it anyway.

But for Gw 2,you can get through fine with any stats and build.

You only need set ones for say raids or high end fractals

No.

This is not what the game, or it’s predecessor, was developed around.

They have stated that there will be no more gear tiers. No level cap raise. That the game is aimed more at horizontal and cosmetic types of progression.

If stat increases are what you are after, there is a laundry list of other games that you can go play.

We have no desire to be one of those games.

Thank you for your time.

Now get out.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

Horizontal character progression is still progression. For example: someone else can glide and your character cannot. That person’s character is more progressed in the game than yours.

Another person can use adrenal mushrooms to help them in fights (which, in my mind, is better than +5 more stats to armor) but yours cannot. That person’s character progressed farther than yours.

A person can unlock lvl 100 fractals, you cannot, that person has progressed farther than you.
^All examples of character progression without it having specifically to do with armor stats.

hitting a mob with 20 health with a +10 weapon then progressing to hitting a mob with 100 health with a +50 weapon is dull insipid gameplay that causes a lot of problems and antisocial behavior. Is also old fashioned and dull – gamers are a bit more sophisticated these days and are looking for choice and complexity not bigger numbers in a kitten-meter, thats what games like wow and wildstar offer.

oh god lets hope they don’t make legendary have higher stats than ascended otherwise LFG will be like, “PING LEGENDARY WEAPON TO JOIN OUR RAID”…. that would be so terrible.

Please nerf bag types instead of class skills!

Forever increasing weapon stats forces the Devs to then keep raising the level caps, and that then leads to making new zones to suit the higher level caps, and you end up with something like WOW.
Thats the last thing this game needs.
