Hi all. So I know there are a lot of small guilds out there made up of people who are real life friends. I know I have one of those myself. But I have recently jumped ship to what I would call a mid sized guild. It has a little over 100 people in it and there are about 15 people on during the US prime time. This guild has over 800k influence. Fact is folks theres probably plenty of guilds out there in a situation similar to this and further the situation isnt as dire as that 30 page thread would have you believe.

I believe a problem we will actually see is that there will be so many people kicking off these cool new bounty missions at once to night that we may not know which bounty belongs to which guild. So my question is, does anyone know how we will tell a target bounty belongs to our guild and not some other guilds?

My understanding of the mission is that when you kick it off two npcs appear in some zone(s) and you have 15 minutes do go find what zone they are in and dispatch them. They look like normal champions and everyone in the zone is allowed to help kill them. I think its great that others are allowed to join in I just wonder how were going to figure out if they are the bounty we are hunting and not infact some other guilds bounty.

Way too many questions about this system to speculate IMO… I am curious about a lot of aspects of this.

What about people in the same guild on different servers? What happens when you get stuck in some zone overflow and your guild is in another overflow? What happens if your target is in the zone, and you are in an overflow without the target?

And more importantly, how many times can the guild run the bounty mission? Just once a day? As many times as they want, but only rewards are given for the first time you personally do it?

I get the feeling like all patches, when they release this system there will be some bug allowing guilds to get dozens of commendations for the first 4-6 hours, which will be promptly patched by the time I log in.

Savoy has a point.

It is the day of the patch, and we still don’t have a detailed blog post explaining all the finer points of the Guild Mission feature. We don’t even have patch notes. The lack of a PTR has shown to be ineffective as well. Good communication is standard for MMOs, as people are willing to devote large portions of their free time to them.

I hate to say it, but visit MMOC’s front page and see the massive conversations developers have about upcoming feature and balance changes. ANet can improve.

@Rennoko, I can answer a few of you questions.

If you are in an overflow and your guild is in a different overflow you can right click on the portrait of one of your party members (assuming your guild members are in your party) you can join in there overflow.

Now, what happens if the target is in the main and your all stuck in the overflow thats a good question and sounds like that could be a very poor design decision on anets part.

Finally, you can kick off the missions as many times as you want but you will only be rewarded once a week with the cool 50 silver and the rare items.

Thanks for the useful comment.

Yeh, I agree Toxyn, Anet has always been abysmal with patch info. All the info I have on these missions is gathered from interviews not actual anet blog posts. Im really hoping a dev will see this and comment. Sure, going forward I doubt youll run into a bunch of people kicking things off all at once but tonight could be dicey. Anecdotally, the night they introduced the jewlery boxes you could buy with karma, the price of lodestones took a nosedive. Why you ask? Because everyone was buying them and they contained lodestones. After a few days the lodestone prices went back up but it proves that people love to try things the night they are released.

.. So what you are saying is that they have to gamble that they killed “their” bounty.. everyone scatters thinking they are done, the monster pops somewhere else and they lose credit because they thought they killed their bounty within the timer? Or worse.. waste their timer killing someone else’s bountry when they should have been 3 zones away 15 minutes ago?

So you only get 15 minutes to do this and everytime the NPC is killed it respawns somewhere else. So you could possibly be running all over looking for a live one. On a busy server, what if random ppl on the map kill it just as you find it? It respawn somewhere else and you have to start looking again, then another guild finds it and kills it and it spawns somewhere else.

Guess we will just have to see how this pans out. Sounds like fun though.

It probably means you need some good map coverage and constant map chatting to see if any other guild ran into him.

Worst case scenario is you are looking for him everywhere and you think you check evereywhere on the map but a guild just killed him and he spawned in places you’ve just checked.

I’m pretty sure it tells you when your bounty dies. If you kill the named monster, it dies and you get credit. I don’t think if you kill X’s bounty monster, it won’t give you credit, that’d be ridiculous.

@BoriKitty and @Ruprect, what hes saying is when your bounty dies youll get credit and your mission ends… no matter who kills it. Youll know your done cause youll get the reward and your timer will stop. There will probably be other interface cues to tell you its over as well. The guild whos bounty is still alive will have to keep going.

But a problem can occur if you TOOK 15 minutes to kill someone else’s bounty? That would mean they have to scramble with what is left of their 15 minute timer to FIND the one they should have been killing? ooomg that sounds like an epic fail when they all spawn them at once..

Sorry for the confusion guys. Here’s the way it works:

  • When your guild activates a bounty mission, it will be displayed in the new missions tab with a list of targets to kill in a 15 minute window (2 – 7 depending on tier).
  • The targets are NPCs who already spawned on the maps. There is a clue as to what map they’ll be on for each target. They can be ANYWHERE on the map. Some of them are easier to find than others.
  • Only guilds with the mission active can start a fight with a bounty. Everyone else will see them as a non-combatant.
  • When the bounty is killed, it is respawned somewhere else for immediate re-use.
  • If you participated in the event to take the bounty down, you will immediately receive your personal reward for guild bounties for that week and your guild will receive completion credit for that target.
  • Once your guild completes all the targets (within the time limit) merits will be awarded to the guild.
  • Merits are used to unlock new upgrades and other types of missions, so it pays to successfully complete your bounty hunts.

the key word there was START. once the enemy is engaged he becomes attackable by everyone. This is to prevent non-guild people from killing the NPC before the guild can even get to it.

Correct, they will get the personal reward (I think?) but not any credit for the guild. the only guild credit you get comes from completing the missions currently active for your guild.

I’m furious over the requirements to even GET to the bounties. All we are interested in our guild “was” the waypoint discount that’s I’m sure buried behind all of this nonsense. Now Arenanet expects all guilds to be raiders to qualify for the discount on top of relying on passers by to help the small guilds who manage to get to this content months down the road.

Im wondering the same, im in a large guild with a mainly US membership. The guild runs events and dungeons round the clock to help people not on server time.

If these are one time triggers completion wont be a problem but 50% of the guild is going to miss out on rewards.

Pretty sure you have to represent at the time the event completes at least.

The unlocks are for the mission “consumables”. You build much in the same way other consumables are built (like banners). These are relatively cheap; 100 influence for tier. You must use one each time you want to activate a mission.

You have to be in a Guild with an active Mission (for example Guild Hunt tier 1) to get the personal reward.
This activ Mission means, first unlocking for influence (lets say 30k) and have it “used” (another 100).

If you are in a Guild which unlocked it, but doesn’t have it active, you won’t get a reward.

If you are in a Guild which doesn’t have it unlocked, you won’t get a reward.

You have to have the target currently active as a mission to get the new fancy guild rewards. You’ll know if it’s active if the bounty’s name and picture is displayed in the new missions tab under “Guild Bounty”. If you’re not involved with the guild who activated the mission, or do not have the mission active in your own guild, you will receive normal event rewards (in the case of bounties). But at least there’s enough time to post videos of otters on twitter.

Yep, the major concerns in this thread here, for example “not in the guild – no mission reward” are just vaguely confirmed by “pretty sure”, but there’s no comment whatsoever to address the issue at its core.
