The GTX 960 GPU costs ~$200 right now and an i7 is roughly the same depending on the exact model.
You’re not finding an i7 for $200, especially if you want to get a k model (which you should). $220 will get you an i5, though. Less if you don’t get a k model.
lol my mistake, I was looking at the used price tag on Amazon.
I play this to get away from console gamers.
A lot of people point at ES:O as a console success story but for those of us who played it before the console release… a solid year of little to no new content and god awful servers for the promise of the game taking off after console release we see this and say no thanks.
I am glad you enjoyed ES:O on console after PC players subsidized its development for a full year with their subscription fees I just see it as a way to kill off the game slowly. FF14 is an anomaly and lets not forget it took them two tries to even make it playable. It was also designed with the Asian and not the Western market in mind.

How the hell did you people get to page two and don’t mention it, the thing is coming out next month..
Two things need to happen for GW2 run on XB1
1: DX9 on XB1
2: Official support of controller of GW2 on PC
Otherwise will be too much effort for ANet to port GW2 to XB1.
But why people would pay XB Live subscription to play on XB1 where as no additional charges on PC?
Instead I would prefer ANet invest in porting GW2 to 64bit so that we have bigger map to explore without travel through portal.
Personal I am more interested in VR or AR on GW2.

Because unless someone beta tested it, noone actually knows how well it will work, it will probably have the same issues with any other controller in regards to GW2.
I actually think GW2 would be amazing on the PS4 as well. I always thought games that originated on PC should stay on PC, but that view changed after playing both versions of Diablo 3. It was incredibly well made and optimized on console. I think for GW2 they would have to tinker with a few things here and there (gemstore stuffs?), but done right they could reach a whole new demographic of players. This could provide more revenue which could mean more future content.
console version wont happen for gw2 lets be real, all we can hope is itll happen for gw3 XD(and cross servers, not 2 different ones)
I would love this. I could finally talk my wife into playing.
To all the people saying this can’t work, I’d like to direct your attention to Final Fantasy XIV. Works, runs, plays, perfectly. It’s also cross-platform.
Edit: And if you think this game has “too many skills” to work on a gamepad, you should see the enormity of skills in that game.
The combat is completely different. It’s slower in ffxiv. Also you don’t use all your skills even tho you have a lot. You’re rotation mostly includes the same skills over and over. A lot of people even macro skills together in the rotation. But that won’t work in gw2 especially in pvp where you need to switch up your rotation frequently based on the other player’s actions.
I don’t think we’re playing the same game if you’re using more than 10 hotkeys for weapon skills and utility skills at a given time.

Those aren’t the only two things. The raw CPU power of an XBone (or PS4) is significantly less, on a per core basis, than most PCs. The game would need to be coded to use many cores effectively.
you can play computer game on a tv
as well as the upcoming DirectX12 improvements.
What DX12 improvement?!
In 3 years they havent been bothered to improve from DX9 to DX11, what makes you think they will spend resources on DX12?!
I’d rather just have a native controller support option on PC since it would be the superior version.
The AoE placement is slower but manageable in normal PvE. Most controller players would get eaten in PvP versus mouse players, unless the supported controllers had touchpads like steam controller for that perhaps.
The biggest reason I want native controller support is for navigating menus and npcs. The controller works well with everything else minus the AoE placement.
Because top of the line AMD processors can’t maintain a minimum 30 fps in all scenarios(boss & zerg fights) & console games require consistently smooth operation as it is expected form the user. Since the XBOXONE and PS4 use AMD processors it is not likely they would be able to make the game perform well on a modern console until they can make better use of the multi-threaded capability of modern PC’ with lower single core IPC. This would be no small task and would likely happen with a switch to a newer directx api. As long as the game requires top of the line or overclocked high range intel products to run smoothly a console release just isn’t probable.
It’s a shame, I would still be playing this game if it didn’t require intel hardware. My choice to avoid intel is a moral choice regarding their shady business practices, not a financial one. I could easily snag a new I5 or I7 & motherboard and my bank account wouldn’t bat an eye. I still log in once every 3 months to try a boss fight in hopes there had been progress as far as keeping fps up but no go so far. I wouldn’t hold out any hope for a console port as i’m not holding out any hope for PC’s with amd procs.

Because the steam controller looks like kitten
o offense. xD
USB port controllers of any kind work just fine. It’s all about knowing how to hot key. Pretty easy to get around 30 hotkeys+ on a normal controller. I’ve done it.

The 8 core CPU in the XBone and PS4 has a similar overall performance as the “four” core FX-4130 or the 2 core with HT i3-4130T.

The Zen CPU Architecture will use SMT, which Intel currently uses, allowing AMD to do single-threading as good, if not better, than Intel. The next consoles will likely use that… probably why Nintendo was waiting for NX?
Well the CPUs in the XBone and PS4 don’t use the same architecture as the Bulldozer series so it doesn’t have the same performance issues. It’s similar to a pair of Athlon 5150 quad cores on the CPU side.
Each 1.6GHz 5150 quad is about 40% as powerful as the 3.4GHz Phenom II 965 quad to put it into perspective.

Yep, because it’s basically a tablet CPU. And that’s similar performance when all cores are fully utilized; GW2 is far from being able to take advantage of 8 cores.

Which is why I said earlier the game would need to be recoded to utilize the number of cores effectively.
And how times have changed, I was going to say a netbook CPU.
