Gw2 Suggestions - Please change the game
Elves? Elves???
Just what the game does not need, an overused, rehashed, fantasy cliche of a race. No doubt they will all be stunningly beautiful, wise, excellent at whatever they do and well dressed for every occasion.
Gag me with a spoon. Bleh.
After elves then what? Anime cat women with boobs?
Please, no elves, no orcs, no classic rpg elements. Guild Wars 2 is not D&D, not LotR, not any of the countless other games out there that have followed, and will continue to follow, the classic fantasy route.
Don’t get me wrong, I like classic fantasy too, but I love Guild Wars 1 & 2 precisely because it doesn’t follow the classic fantasy style. I love how they have created their own style of fantasy and their own twist on races, professions, monsters, etc.
Tyria is not Middle Earth, it’s Tyria. It’s a completely different universe, and therefore has no obligation what so ever to be anything like any other universe. If you don’t like it then you have a lot of choice available to you, to fill your classic fantasy requirements. But I for one would hate to see Tyria’s unique take on the genre ruined by them changing it to follow the crowd and be like all the other sheep in the field.

Elves needs first of course a horse … and then a cape ^^
Then they like to punch others in the face .. so Duelz .. and those elven thieves like
to stab others in the back .. so we need open PvP.
Gandalf could solo the Balrog .. elven however need a raid for that.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

The OP may find it more enjoyable to play ESO or other games like that. Not every game has to have those elements.
About on par with adding in a barbarian horde of Care Bears invading from the mists, I think.
Care Bears for expansion race, 2015.

You mean “another overused, rehashed, fantasy cliche” after their humans, beastmen, dryads, big humans, and gnomes?

From the wall of text you have there you seem passionate about what you are saying. You want GW2 to become what you are used to basically. All the other games have it why not GW2? One thing I have noticed about Anet is this they do not make WoW clones. They came from Blizzard Entertainment, as higher up creators of several games. They decided that they could make a different type of game with Guildwars.
Guild wars was Human based with fantasy npc type creatures like the Tengu and such
Guild wars was also race based like Prophecies Caucasian Factions Asian and Nightfall African (were actually not expansions but single games that could be attached to each other) The only true expansion and link to GW2 was Eye of the North.
Guild wars was very different from any MMORPG in that it did not have a persistent world. People met in town grouped up got all their skills set in town and went out on their own personal map instant to do whatever they wanted to do. No skill changes could be done on that map. Depending on what was being done if a mission failed it had to be done over.
Now on to GW2 an MMORPG that does have a persistent world where you can change skills is not human or human race based but more fantasy based with fantasy characters. If you fail something yes you failed it, but you can walk away no problem it does not really matter just try again later.
You can change your weapons in battle change your gear skills and traits outside of battle any place any time. The game is different than most games for a good reason.
GW2 is not a WoW clone
Sylvari are not wood elves and were never meant to be . They are a new idea of fantasy creature that probably have more to do with invasion of the body snatchers than elves. Elves have been done already
Asuran are unique in GW2 they are not dwarves they are not gnomes and are probably more associated with the Ferengi of Star Trek The Next Generation. Only more animal like.
The Charr are also unique to GW and GW2 there are similar beast races but none like the Charr. They look like a cross between a Large cat and Two water buffalo’s that can stand on two feet and talk like a human.
The Norn are more human looking they are large about 9 feet tall considered giant size compared to humans of course. They have the same features of humans, but more muscular than humans naturally.
And of course the humans everyone knows them lol.
The reason GW2does not have those other races is simple GW2 is not the run of the mill game. It took ideas that did not work in some combined them with new ideas and became its own game. Now people are calling other games similar to it GW2 clones. That is kind of an honor IMHO.
ugh, i hate elves. they think theyre better than everyone. There are already enough races that think theyre better than everyone… Asura, Kodan, Tengu to some extent. Even Norn and Centaur have some of this. Elves would just be another race that thinks theyre better than others.
there are several castles in this game. WvW has most of them (you and your 34 friends might enjoy WvW). there is also the vigil keep and fort trinity. not to mention the numerous palisades/camps that show up
As for the darker element, did you miss the halloween event? Prince thorn is right up your ally for dark
As for the dragons being stale (someone mentioned it above), there is a certain lich king that is in GW lore if we ever go back to Elona
Gates Of Madness
Jewelcrafting to 500!
Some Remarks how usual high-fantasy the GW2 is -.
1 – You have the same Magic flowing through the world/people principle. Its in almost
every Fantasy setting → Star Wars, call it Force
2 – Gods are just beings with a lot magic amassed, Gods can be replaced by Humans
through Ascension → D&D Forgotten Realms cliché
3 – Magic is divided into Elements like in any other fantasy game EVER
Lightning/Air/Fire/Earth/Death/Illusion….etc…
4 – Although made really nice a simple comparsion can be made here :
Humans are humans…
Asura are highly intelligent Gnomes, live in Underworld…
Norn are like your lovely 24/7 Barbarians from North..
Sylvari can be compared with wood elves.
Charr are bloodthirsty warmongers can be compared to Orcs
5 – There are dwarves….
6 – You fight Dragons…. D..R…A..G..O..N..S..!!!
How more fantasy like you want to get actually?
Sylvari in their born through a tree Concept and being a new Race is something fresh.
Everything else is nothing new.
If we would have a Godless universe , where Magic is gained through conusming Human flesh you could call this a somewhat new fantasy setting. But no GW2.

When the reactor blew, the world’s fabric turned inside out. Some things will never be the same.
@OP, silvery were to be similiar to elves, but Anet changed their look becouse they looked to human.

Sylvari were actually an elvish race that were “hobbit sized” before they underwent a massive re-design.
lold!
This is clearly a troll thread.
No! Really? How can you tell?

It was the Gem Store part. Everything before that seemed so legit! But that gem store section just illuminated the whole issue! :-P
