Honestly, what baffles me is that with such a low droprate, people consider that they could farm for this item.

Isn’t it very obvious that it’s not intended to be farmed. It might be a lucky drop. Hooray, you got lucky.

Semabtics people doesn’t want to farm it they want to drop only ONE of it.

It’s genuinely a bit like lottery. If you try to “farm” the big win lottery, you’re stupid. Sorry. That’s a simple fact. However, individually you could buy a single ticket and hey, if you won more power to you, grats.

That’s not farming an item than trying to get ONE of it.

There are items intended to be farmed (Carapace pieces come to mind). There are items intended to exist as lucky bonus drops (like this one). Don’t try to force one to be the other, you don’t control dropchances.

The only other item that have such a stupid absurdly low drop rate like that than come to my mind is precursor.
That’s bullkitten; at least precursor aren’t account bound, you can also buy them on Trading post.
You’re right; we can’t control the dropchance but having an account bound item with suchh drop rate is STUPID

I think Anet hit the mark with this mini. They wanted to drive mini collectors nuts with this mini by being rare as kitten and its a huge success! (i.e. they don’t want every tom, kitten or harry running around with this mini).

BTW I have Gwynefyrdd mini on my alt and main accounts. Drop rates are fine. I wanted to pump luck and maybe get those expensive thingies but whatever. The return for gold is like 80-90% usually with the odds of getting something for several hundred gold so its okay except opening bags is less exciting than flushing rares in the MF.

You should open more ToT bags instead

Why?
I mean, it works. It clearly works. Look at all the people destroying tons of the excess bags floating around. It does what they implemented it to do.

And look at IRL: People do play the lottery. Same utterly unwinnable concept.

So both the motivation and the intended effect work out.

Ofc, like I said I don’t get where people even make the mental connection that this should be something you actively strife for. The super-low-drop chance clearly mark it out as something you don’t actively hunt for. Alternatively, think of it as GW2’s Insane in the Membrane achievement. :P

The strength of heart to face oneself has been made manifest. The persona Carighan has appeared.

I know this is an old thread, but with Halloween coming soon I beg you do not make the mini easier to obtain this year. I dunno about other people but I’m pretty sure lots would just flip the table after opening millions of bags to get it.

I can’t believe what i see ingame. You brought in Gwynefrydd for 100 candy corn cobs. Why ? I personally opened something like 400.000 of T&T Bags to get my Gwynefrydd and now everyone can have it that easy way? I’m playin Guild Wars since the beginning of GW1, but never was that disappointed about an decision of Arena Net like this. What the he.. is going on in your minds? It took me an 3/4 year to get it…

This was exactly what I predicted would happen. Old stuff goes into vendor and new stuff goes into the bags.

It’s actually a good system. Don’t think of your last 11 months as “trying to get the dog” as much as it was “farming enough candy corn to buy the dog”.

Thank you Anet for giving us an alternative method of getting it, and making the new ones tradeable.

I was so happy to see this!

Sure it’s a hell of a lot of candy corn to farm, but to me any fixed, known number is infinitely less than the potentially infinite number of bags we had to open to get one through RNG.

It does look like I’ll be putting HoT on hold for a while to get candy corn, but at least I know I’ll actually be working towards a goal.
