There seems to be a lot of ill advised, minor profit if any at all, mat promotion going on at the MF and dumped on the TP.

Anyone else seeing this?

Someone else on another thread predicted this would happen. Kind of silly if you ask me. ANet said that the updated scrolls would still drop. The promoters are dropping the prices of the mats they have promoted and will not have as many of the new items when the update arrives. imo the updated scrolls will do the same thing in the MF as the old scrolls, buy items that used to be bought with skill points.

“Old skill points in excess of those earned by leveling and skill challenges will be converted into crafting materials for the Mystic Forge. Items and activities that were previously repeatable sources of skill points will now also provide that same crafting material.”

ANet says crafting material but they have a long history of sloppy word usage. I think it will be a crafting material in the sense you can buy MF items, which are then used to craft in the MF.

Essentially they are turning skill points and skill scrolls into “skill currency”. Its functionality as a currency will remain identical to what it is now. The only difference is that it will no longer be used to unlock skills.

So for a level 80 character with all skills unlocked, SP’s will function identical to the way they currently function for you, just with a new name.
