OP, get yourself a full set of Arah gear and become an experienced wvw commander. The arah set will make some people think “this guy must be pretty good to have been able to get that”, and being a strong wvw commander .. well people will outright call you awesome, say thanks and want you to command if you’re online.

Now that I think about it, being a respected WvW commander is probably the best way to distinguish yourself in this game by a mile, plus since you’ll most likely be forced in to using teamspeak you’ll get to know the people you’re commanding too and make friends.

It does certainly seem that WvW is both the most popular and respected aspect of GW2

In general, I find that the more hardcore players in this game tend to be the people who PvP, who (imo) have a somewhat negative view of players who would just pve. More specifically, I get the impression that pve players are seen as less skilled than pvp players.

I’m starting to understand the reason behind that too: everyone pve related requires a lower skill level than things pvp related. Consequently, the pve rewards are also observed as less impressive than pvp rewards.

It also even seen on the complains in the prof forums. Whenever I read any type of QQ message, it’s about something pvp related typically. You basically never see any post about about someone complaining fractals are too hard, or why a certain class is doing better than them in dungeons. You certainly don’t hear anyone saying “why is my prof so weak at doing dynamic events!”

I also notice the more disappointed people tend to be the players who are hardcore and prefer pve stuff like fractals

Those conjectures are, in my opinion, spot on Mr. mtl! As someone who plays and likes basically every aspect of GW2, PvE is what would leave most challenge-seekers disappoint.

“We have no first-person view because stupid people would lock into it”
“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”
