My reasons are similar to yours OP.

Recently I helped my fiancee with her alt a bit, but we are both disappointed by ArenaNet and the new direction. We feel the game is now on rails and everybody is in Lion’s Arch doing FotM over and over again.

What was a free and rich experience before is now less and less appealing.

I come to the forums a lot more than I used to. Before I was ingame playing and posted very little, now the game doesn’t attract me all that much, so I come here hoping I’ll hear something meaningful from ArenaNet that can restore my faith in them, even though I know perfectly it’s not likely to happen.

I met my fiancee in GW1 7 yers ago. So you can imagine ArenaNet devs felt a bit like family to us. I know this is a personal detail and you guys couldn’t care less, but I think it’s menaingful because it shows what kind of demographic they have managed to disappoint.

If anything we would err on the fanboy rather than the hater side.

1. I check the forums sometimes, if there was a reversion to the old design philosophy.
2. On Monday 12th when the rumor about the changes came up, I stopped playing and so far I have not doubleclicked the GW2 icon on my desktop anymore.
3. Disagreement with changes in design philosophy caused me to quit the game.

1. Who here, still come to forums but play the game much less?

- I visit the forums regularly in the search for some good news about GW2. But haven’t played at all in the last month or so.

2. When did you start playing less?

- As above, approximately a month ago.

3. Why / What caused the decline in time spent?

- I ran a Ranger as my main character for more than 400 hours and the stealth short bow nerf of 7th October struck me as a worrying sign of things to come.

In particular the inept handling of the situation by Anet (damage control courtesy of Jon Peters) and the subsequent wave of censoring legitimate debate on the forums by the moderators left an increasingly bad taste in my mouth.

Further messages from Jon Peters suggested that the Ranger profession was due some substantial attention from the Devs. The 15th November patch contained the fruits of their labours. For those who play the Ranger profession I suspect that no further elaboration is required. For anybody else that may be intrigued, please just check out the Ranger sub-forum.

Furthermore of course, we now have the one time events, the lost shores, the FoTM dungeon and the ascended gear treadmill/vertical progression fiasco….

I’m just seeing the same pattern of responses from Anet that I saw over a month ago. Limited communication. Damage control/PR. Censorship and the stifling of legitimate debate on the forums… etc. etc. etc.

I’ve been an Anet customer since 2007 with GW1. I bought, Factions, Nightfall, Eye of the North and I spent money in the online shop. I carried a lot of optimism and good will towards Anet into GW2. Only to have seen Anet do all that they can to squander that brand loyalty and goodwill within three months of launch.

I will never buy another Anet product again.

I still come to the forums everyday while im at work. Sincerely I hope they do something to change this game.

I still play maybe an hour every other day. Used to play 7 hours a day.

Reason being. The Karka Event and how it was put out and handled. Them addressing precursor prices by flooding them out to people in a ONE TIME event. Causing people to become instantly rich while I disconnected and am broke. The nerfing of Plinx, our only farm event. The nerfing of drop rates. The DR that was supposed to be for botting problems but only negatively effects the hardcore gamer. Why should I be penalized for playing your game for 8 hours straight? Makes no sense.

I feel like this game isnt about freedom to do as you please. Its about doing what Anet wants you to do. And im sorry video games are about the players, not those who made it.

If they changed everything I listed above I believe I and a lot of other players would play this til we died or got carpal tunnel. The money they make from gem sales would sky rocket. Servers would be packed and id feel safe referring someone to play GW2. Because right now, this game just came out and is near its end.

Coming to the forums daily, just to see any sign of life from devs about their vision on what made me lose the will to play : combat mechanics fatigue.

Fatigue not because too tedious, but the opposite : because not enough refreshments.
I’ve wrote enough posts in this topic ( http://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/game/gw2/Will-Combat-Mechanics-be-deeper/first ), no need to explain further.

  • 2. When did you start playing less?

After hitting 80 with my Thief, when I started leveling alts to search a playstyle that would feel complex enough for not being bored in 2 weeks. Right now I tried all the classes, with all their skills/weaponsets, and still didn’t find.

  • 3. Why / What caused the decline in time spent?

Before, a bit of explanation of why :

I’m not the “content eater” player type, searching for new content every week.
And I don’t care if I have to grind for hours and hours.
I’m far more the “gamer” type, who constantly searches new ways to interact with the world he plays in. And casual interactions, like simplistic boss mechanic, environmental weapon here and there, etc, are not satisfying my gamer personality.
The only thing that I find satisfying is the mechanics diversity. The choices to create different situations, and adapt to them. And these choices have to be numerous.

You could ask me to grind the same pack of mobs for hours and hours, as long as I have to think about the skills I will have to use, and their order. Like a chess game. If any simplistic execution pattern starts to show itself, the thinking process will stop and turn to mindless execution (aka : no surprise).

Still like in a chess game, the best way I noticed for me not feeling bored in mmos was skill interdependancy, aka combat mechanics.
Ex : skill#1 triggers an effect that empowers skill#3, which can empower skill#2 if critical, and if talented can reset the cooldown on skill#8.

That kind of complexity.
Because like a hella lot of gamers, I’m not new to videogames at all, whatever they are, so basic mechanics quickly feel déjàvu. Been there, done that, etc.

So, What caused the decline in time spent ?
The fact that I couldn’t find this type of skills interdependancy depth in any of the class, alt after alt.

Same.

And for exactly the same reasons as everyone else…

This time last week I was really enjoying the game had so much to do, so many alts to raise Now it feels pointless my OH has quit completely, friends I played with in GW1 have mostly quit the few left are hardly ever on and when they are we always end up just talking in LA.

1. Me.

2. When I read what was going to be added with Lost Shores and realized i heard all this before when Radiance was introduced to LoTRO and eventually made me leave that game.

3. As end-game design focus has changed GW2 has now turned into a standard WoW Wannabe MMO where end-game is about grinding some type of instance, not about Open World anymore. Alreday now the best gear drop is in dungeons now for some parts as well as ingredients for Mystic Forge. Exactly the opposite of why I pre-ordered GW2.

Crafting going to go downhill as well as open world and it will all be about “LFM or LFG Full infusion Full Ascended, tier 4 fractal.” etc.

Already saw that after a few hrs when new dungeons been opened.

Exactly the same reasons I left LoTRO and never looked back although i have 2 Lifetime accts there.

Pre-ordered a Collectors for myself.

When I enjoyed GW2 so much first month until Lost Shores announcement, I even bought 2 more GW2 boxes. One for my son, one for my step-son.

Bought the biggest Gem order in store to add more bankslots as well as some backslots but won’t buy anything more now. I was about to do the same for my son as well as some more for me but not now after this.

I even went out and managed to find all 4 of the GW1 boxes and was thinking I’d get around to trying to get the titles needed in GW1 for skins in GW2. I wanted that flaming sword skin for example and some of the gear. I guess that will never happen now. I haven’t gotten around to install them yet so I can always give them to someone else as a gift i guess.

My son and I havent been in much since the announcement.

Up until that announcement I have almost been on daily to do dailes and usually alot more.

My step-son still plays some I think. We spoke on skype each day as he dont live here after his mom and I split up but now I havent even spoken to him since I dont play much anymore.

I tried the open world part of the Lost Shores event but got dc and coulnd’t even log back in and couldn’t be there the last 2-3 min when Ancient Kraka was downed as Log-In Servers broke down or something. Although i had been there for 2 1/2 hrs up to that.

I see where all this is heading and I have been there done that in other MMO’s and Im not going to be so patient and stupid that I have hope and waste a long time before realizing it.

The little spin-doctor message from staff didn’t exactly calm me or my predictions. It didnt really adress anything and not even mentioning crafting.

I mostly just log on to role-play these days. I love the game, but I really don’t agree with some of the design decisions that have been made recently. For me, what was once meant to be a long term commitment has now shifted to simply being a stepping stone until a certain upcoming MMO launches.

Lord Funk.1694

…continue from above…

I play MMO’s for Massive Multiplayer Online feeling, not for some Single-player game with multiplayer feeling that instances and dungeons give.

When I feel they try to mold us into and force us to do dungeons is when I know this is not game for me and/or my friends anymore.

It’s then a game for the WoW players and not me or my son, or many of my friends for that matter.

Been waiting and hoping for this game for so long. When people fanboi’ed about SW TOR and such I always said that SW TOR will just be another WoW ( as they were honest and said it would be a game where they lead You and You play their game not sandbox and alot of open world). I always said I look forward to GW2 and NOT SW TOR and advertised this game all over. No more.

I didnt even use these Forums until I read that announcement as I could see where that will lead. So noone else influnced me but that announcement could make me see the future result it will bring. Not until I was going to write on forum did I notice how many others had realized the same thing and were not happy about it.

The Guild was doing fine too and plenty of us playing the game and not spread out in various games as finally we thought this would be an MMO for us.

Not that we are one of those 200+ Guilds but we never have wanted to be that either. Still plenty enough to have fun together and acctually know each other well. Most of us adults some parents with adult kids as well playing. Joking that soon we will have 3 generations of families playing. My son and step son are the youngest in our Guild and the only ones not adults acctually.

We have a web-site, as well as a fb group and use group call in Skype as we play as many of us have Skype and it runs just fine for what we want.

Our Guild have been around since 1996/97 in Dibalo 1 as well as in Beta in Ultima Online/UO. Then plenty of games since then but usually end up leaving when end-game becomes the usual Instance grind for gear and ingredients that only drops in instances.

Played one and You played them all. Gets old really fast.

I’m left with a very sad feeling and a big sigh now.

I said this before: “If I wanted to pay WoW I would but I don’t.”

If I wanted to grind instances for gear and ingredients I would still be playing LoTRO but I don’t.

I wanted to play GW2 because I could chose to play the styles I and my friends enjoy and still reach the same end-game rewards and do WvWvW eventually.

Prior to Lost Shores and FotM You could craft to make top-gear and not need ingredients from instances/dungeons either.

You could WvWvW and get gear for karma.

You could do PvE and get gear for Karma etc.

Also grind Dungeons for those that enjoy that.

Now I can see this will all be about grinding instances and crafting will be rubbish unless You again grind some instances for ingredients. Dividing the community into Elitist WoW style instance players and the rest.

No Thank You !!!
Not again !!!
Been There. Done That !!! :/

I check the forums to see if there is any meaningful response from ArenaNet.

2. When did you start playing less?
This week.

3. Why / What caused the decline in time spent?
Barely finished my exotic gear, not keen on aiming for Ascended. Don’t have the time on weeknights to do Fractals but finding the maps empty. I don’t like the direction ArenaNet are taking by excluding the Oceanic community from epic events and rewards. I really don’t like the way they refuse to even acknowledge the issue or respond to us.

The flipside being that I looked up long enough to see Planetside 2 has Australian servers \o/

I still play the game the same amount.

But I visit Lions Arch even less than before… gold seller spam was bad enough, but now the fractals spam has just gotten past the point of being annoying.

What HAS also decreased quite a bit was logging into the forums to read… there’s nothing worth reading in here anymore. A lot of QQ and melodramatic posturing. Mostly now I just read the news and announcements section… then check out if there are any interesting thread titles before closing the window.

My interest in the game hasn’t waned any…. my interest in the community is mostly gone.

So I would like to ask:
1. Who here, still come to forums but play the game much less?
2. When did you start playing less?
3. Why / What caused the decline in time spent?

1 – I’m not playing the game at all now. I come to look at the forums to see if the game will back away from the alteration of the gameplay to grind.

2 – Frankly LOTRO is my main game. But I used to log into GW2 to level my Norn. My hours in the game were ramping up until the patch. Then I stopped playing.

3 – The new gear grind which turns the game into another WOW clone. WoW does all of this better. If I want to grind for gear, I’ll go pay Blizzard for a more enjoyable experience.

I don’t have any hopes of this changing. But I’m a bit in shock over this change which was so quick it didn’t make any sense. I can only conclude that whoever is running the game now (Nexon?) wanted cash in hand NOW and did not want to wait to watch the game grow. Since it can only make money by box sales and milking existing customers., get ready to watch more pump n dump schemes. Also Hardcore players better watch out, because the penny counters are watching and they will be sure to make changes in order to make it necessary to use the cash shop.

2- after FotM came out i started playing much and much less, but when i really started playing less was a bit before halloween, i was bored of the content, halloween made me play a bit more, when it ended i didnt feel like playing much.´

3- the content…i dont know it’s fun but not long appealing, i get bored of it really fast i dont know if this is my own doing (getting bored with mmorpg’s in general) or the game going into a direction i dont like

So I would like to ask:
1. Who here, still come to forums but play the game much less?
2. When did you start playing less?
3. Why / What caused the decline in time spent?

1 – I’ve logged in a couple of times for about 3 mins each in the last week or so, I pop in to the forums to see if any of the issues have been resolved or even commented on in most cases. Seems game companies can’t seem to learn from the game that had the best (most polite/constructive) community, which was LOTRO (pre-f2p) and one of the reasons for that was the devs/company communicated a lot, and not merely with vague or selective answers.

2 – When the “big” patch came in.

3 – A combination of them doing a u-turn in regard to what they sold the game on and that the game was clearly not ready for release and that they are slow to fix important stuff. (we are three months in and there are still a slew of bugs / issues with things as fundamental as the classes (especially if you play classes like engineer/necro))

I already play an MMORPG with progression, which does it far better than GW2 and more importantly does PvE far better, there is no substitute for raids in GW2. (When I say PvE, I mean the dungeons / raids aspect, the open world, exploring, levelling is good in GW2, though I’m not sure how much fun it would be currently when most of the world is empty)

I bought GW2 mainly for WvW and sPvP, as it turned out sPvP was terrible (largely because they released without the needed systems or content in place). Now they have broken their own philosophy and changed it into a WoW treadmill, one of the big selling points of WvW has gone, which was that everyone at 80 will be able to be equally geared quickly, fights at least on a gear basis would be fair and that I could easily gear up alts. It will only get worse as they introduce ascended to more slots / add higher levels of infusions.

But I am starting to play less because of the Lost Shores Patch that introduced Gear-treadmill…

I have 5 characters I want to lvl and the more I play, the less motivated I become to playing with that news alone.

If they remove Ascended Gear or just make them cosmatic and have awesome Effects, then I’ll be more motivated to continue playing and buying more character slots and such! =D

The community is just reacting to the changes. What you describe is people loving freedom and variety playing less and less, and people obsessed with loot and power incresing their share in the game population.

The community behaving in a certain way is a reaction to bad design.

It’s up to the devs to encourage social behaviors and discourage pidgeon-holing.

1. I still visit the forums but less frequently than before. I rarely bother to post now because too many threads go ‘missing in action’, as I suspect this one probably will if what it contains doesn’t have sufficient amounts of cheerleading.

2. The moment they announced the details of the Lost Shores and the new vertical progression system. Up until then I was playing regularly and enjoying it (apart from WvW which lags too much to be enjoyable).

3. I’ve no interest in a gear treadmill in GW2. I’ve read the re-assurances but I don’t trust anything the devs now say given how they’ve already gone back on their word in such a massive way. Fool me once etc. If I want to play a vertical progression game I’ll play one of several other titles that does it better. That’s not what I wanted or expected from GW2 which originally set itself apart but now it just wants to be another clone forcing players onto a treadmill to be milked. No thanks.

I’m not going to be seeking a refund – with several hundred hours played I got my money’s worth. But I’m unlikely to do more than dabble in the future and I won’t be spending any money in the cash shop or on expansions for as long as the game contains any kind of treadmill.

I come from a GW1 background, where there is no such thing as gear progression.

Lost Shores introduced gear grinding similar to all other MMO, and the constant nerfing of the Guardian, I’ve decided to call it a day, until things change.
Where are all the original GW1 devs? They probably left and were replaced by other MMO devs, that decided GW2 had to be similar to other MMOs and less like GW1.

I haven’t logged into the game since last Friday.

After the Guardian Greatsword nerf, there was a huge outcry. People simply wanted to know why they did it. What did ArenaNet do? Nothing. They simply ignored it.

After the Lost Shores outcry about gear treadmill, there was a huge outcry. People simply wanted to know why they did it. What did ArenaNet do? Nothing. They are simply ignoring it.

ArenaNet is simply ignoring their community. This is weird, as this didn’t happen in GW1. ArenaNet is not ArenaNet anymore.

I have kept an eye on the forums, hopeful for a comment or clarification, but NOTHING!

So until they pull their act together and decide to return to their philosophy as per the “Manifesto”, I’m afraid I won’t be playing this game anymore.

Playing less for two reasons at moment. One game related one not. My pc is down due to PSU failure. The game related one is as follows and something I have stated before. Reach the last mission with my Warrior and have no one to do it with as everyone is off in dungeons or running around in zerg formation doing events in Arah. I’ve sadly hit a brick wall I as a player cannot overcome. : (

Here are my reasons for playing less, granted it is personal preference if you agree with my viewpoints or not. I have stopped playing as much as i would normally.

1, After reaching FoM 16 it hit me just how much of a joke the repetition is, and the changes so far don’t seem to be exciting enough per level increase.

2, Complete RNG, makes this whole system of levels based purely on mindless force, I don’t want to rerun on repeat the same dungeons over and over in order to be on par with gear. You want me to sit there in LA for 1 hour LFG’ing for the right level? No thanks, a response people give to this is “Why don’t you run with your guild” Well i would if my guild members were at the same level and online at exactly the same time, this is just not the case for people that don’t base their lives around gw2.

3, I don’t really want to do PvE or feel like I’m falling behind just because i can’t run the same things over and over again. Or why not make the new gear acquirable via WvW somehow.

I like the pre lost shores gw2, can’t stand the new you, I’m sorry.

I play less (but I still play) because:

1. spvp has no variety in game modes. It simply bores me doing only conquest.
A shame, since I think making 5v5 hot join was a good thing in terms of actually plaaying as you should.
Still flawed point system though.

2. leveling is too empty in mid-level zones, I don’t want to constantly ask for help every corner I turn.
Mostly respawn rates are still getting on my nerves. It’s not the veteran killing me, it’s the bloody trash jumping up a moment after I kill them.
This game is designed for full zones, which is a design flaw only good for the first weeks.

3. WvW is still the most fun for me, but it’s an uneven imbalanced mess isn’t it
And mostly running…
Less fun as a leveling character in there but I’ll get by.

4. Dungeons don’t appeal to me that much. Instead of being innovative by removing the holy trinity, they appear mostly one-shotting bosses who happen to have extreme big health pools.
Haven’t done much, but they are too difficult and too simple at the same time… very odd feeling. I think I miss creative boss mechanics (yes, I been a raider in another game…)

5. grinding and crafting, and living in Orr?
Not interested whatsoever. I don’t even think the skins for medium armor are creative enough to grind for…

Conclusion: I hardly even hot join spvp anymore.
I do mostly WvW and when that is slow I do pve maps a bit. Mostly searching for skill points actually.
And dungeons: perhaps, if someone would beg me…

i’m playing less because working towards something in GW2 is nearly impossible.

Leveling experience was amazing for the first time.
I was really excited after i got my 100% Map completion.
Through hard work got my Artificer and Tailor to 400. After that this became “useless”, except i could make my second set of exotic armor. No profit from this.
Got my exotic weapons (also crafted), every weapon my class can use.
Started working on my legendary – completely lost. After a month of farming events in Orr i managed to collect 120g needed for Icey Runestones and 2 gift recipes. I have no idea how to get lodestones or T6 mats on my own in a reasonable time span.

Too much emphasis on “economy” and “trading post”. I don’t participate in either.
Dungeons – find them boring, even with a good party. They are the complete opposite of “fun”. I do not feel joy while doing them.
Open world – amazing and alive. Wish there was more people though. At this point i want to have the bots back.
sPVP – fun i guess. Once in a month when i find myself wanting to press buttons really fast.
WvW – fun when i’m in a big zerg. Boring when i’m not.
Jumping puzzles – i like them. I find them enjoyable because you can do them alone and they are really even more fun with a friend by your side.
Mini dungeons – super fun. Find them much more enjoyable than any instanced content in this game.

My current goal is only to get my legendary. I have made my character with all the weapons and armor i wanted for looks. All i’m doing is getting the legendary weapon for my achievement. The precursor price drop is laughable. Thank you Anet for trying.

I had not played several weeks before the event last weekend. The new zone gave me about an hour of fun. I tried Fractals which confirmed the impression about GW2 dungeons i got from doing Arah story mode: no reason to try again.
I noticed Anet has pretty much solved the bot problem, and maybe fixed a few bugged events. Personal story quests still have severe issues with difficulty balance.

I played a few times since, doing zone completion, which increasingly feels like i’m playing just for the numbers even though there’s the occasional fun of group DE’s. Poi’s and vistas is ok as filler content but it won’t hold me over. World completion is a no-go due to PvP requirements, dailies are “meh”.
So yeah, my hate for GW2 is starting to win out from my love for the game.

Woow, this post was hilarious. No seriously, you still come to the forums but are playing less…?
Let me read q&a again: 2. When did you start playing less? / After the 3nd day of Lost Shores.

So you have been playing less after 18 November 2012. That means you have now been playing less for a whopping 4 days!

I will also answer your questions..

1. Who here, still come to forums but play the game much less?
Guilty.
2. When did you start playing less?
Same as gadenp.7586 I started playing less after 18 November 2012
3. Why / What caused the decline in time spent?
Well I have less time during the weeks and to top it all of I am not sure if I have a lot of time coming weekend, but after that I have much more time so then I will be more online again. Now it’s only in the evening.

Hilarious.

Anyway, as a guild-leader I am also interested why some people start playing less and less because maybe some guild-events might help. But then you read the first post lol.

Now is there anybody who really did start playing less and where certain guild-events of changes would have made a difference? And what are they? I am interested.

I stopped playing entirely. The thing is that I completed the world and all the puzzles just before this update and already got bored leveling alts. I am a massive altoholic and I don’t get bored of leveling that quickly but here I did.

I just don’t feel a connection with this world, beautifully crafted as it may be, as I did with GW1, SWTOR and other games. Part of that are the poor story lines and even worse voice acting. I actually can’t stand hearing my own characters speak in this game.

So I hoped this update would bring some fun things to do, but instead it introduced a complete 180 from Anet from their own philosophy which was also the main reason why I started to play GW2.

So yeh that killed it for me.

But I guess I am interested how different people feel about this. I see people who are happy with it and people, like myself, who just can’t believe that Anet managed to do this 180. It’s like losing your religion type of magnitude.

So I stick around but try to stay out of the flaming zone because it is abundantly clear why people feel the way they do. But I am done with it and I don’t think this will be turned back. So I stay on the forum to see the discussions and add a note here or there.

It’s a game forum. The truth is not to be found here.

I know this sounds sooo stupid: but I actually leveled a second engineer because I did the storyline with my Norn female and I simply can’t stand the sound of her anymore!
I just ruined the character for me.

So I decided to level another engineer, an Asura this time. Without the storyline. Not going anywhere near that this time around!

And what you know: now people tell me the Asura storyline is actually the only decent one

I basically stopped playing weeks ago now. I thought this would be a game I sunk time into 24/7 like GW1. However, WvW still suffers from player culling issue and free server transfers continue unabated (1x/wk as far as I am aware). There’s been little if any class balancing. There’s still only a single mode for sPvP. All I see is pandering and catering to the PvE crowd. Adding another map with the same gameplay to sPvP added nothing to the game for me.

I thought PvP would be a huge focus of this game, like the original GW1, but apparently I was wrong.

Also, I HATE DUNGEONS! ESPECIALLY YOURS ANET! Mobs with lots of HP and DMG do not make anything challenging.

I’ll just say Ascended gear and I think you guys will get my point. Events continue to be broken and Lost Shores was an absolute Cluster Kitten. Customer Service has been terrible. I submitted a ticket over 2 months ago and have gotten no response still!!! Forum moderation is heavy handed and overly censors player feedback and discussion.

Due to my long list of complaints, that I’ll acknowledge are just my opinion and a single player’s perspective, I am extremely disappointed in ANet’s handling of this title. I’ll be back when the ingame pvp content actually gets expanded on in a meaningful way instead of HURR DURR ESPORTS.

Feel free to prove me wrong ANet.

before, I would spend most of my time in-game rather than in forum

started playing less since the patch day 15th Nov
get even less after the mess of fotm and ancient karka thingy and
of course get even less after the much hated finale event

now, not even motivated to login to do all the grinds
even if i do, i’m not sure if there’s any party doing fotm level 1 now

starting to look at other games actually
any recommendation?

it’s amazing how 1 patch resulted in a massive decline of interests from the players
it’s interesting to see what’s going to happen in the next 1 year after this ‘incident’
at the moment, it seems like it’s going down the path of swtor

anyway, good job anet

It has lost it’s appeal, I log on, stand about LA for 10 mins, swap to an alt, stand another 5 mins, then log off and play a non MMO game (Xcom atm).
At the start it was great and I had a goal, was even thinking of working on a legendary til the event. The lag was ok, the fps wasn’t bad, but the culling & end loot destroyed all hope of making this epic.
Players boasting about how they are 300 gold richer because of the event, non 80s and trial accounts with more cash than most of us will ever see, material collection nerfed and players punished for doing so.
The bots got removed & I cheered irl, the prices on the TP went up and it was ok, I could live with that, but to then nerf gathering to make up for the bad TP market, was just sick.
I feel like this game was the love of my life (of MMOs ofc) only for it to have been sleeping around with console games! (yes, I hate those brats! :P).

We’ll stop to sleep when the game is the best possible game we think it can be.
We’ve been awake since March 2007! Please help!

1) I used to read the forums every couple of days, looking for news and announcements and I think I asked for help in a class forum once or twice. In the last couple of days I have posted more than I did in all my months of playing this game, including the beta.
In short, used to be a very happy customer too and thought GW2 was the one wonderful game I had been looking for and would be playing for the next couple of years.

2) I haven’t really logged into the game since the patch weekend because I pretty much lost all desire to play at the moment.

3) I am disappointed about the new added gear, and by the lack of any clear statement by Anet on what this means for the game’s future. If we are in for more of that sort because they changed their vision, or how else we players are supposed to understand this move that seems to go against all their previous statements that people keep quoting everywhere, including the manifesto. It doesn’t make sense to me.

If this happened due to “player feedback”, I don’t understand why there is virtually no reaction whatsoever to the enormous feedback that keeps coming from players that are not happy with the new gear at all.

Until there is a clear statement about what to expect in the future, I don’t want to be spending time on something I might give up on for good soon enough anyway, in case it becomes official that GW2 is going to support stat/gear progression in the future.

I stopped playing the game, but I keep spending time on these forums, still looking and hoping for some official response to people’s concerns.

I’m playing less.

I had just finished an exotic gear set before Lost Shores was announced, then I find out I get to grind for another set, no thanks.

I’m also playing less because the game I bought (see manifesto) is not the game I am getting. Can we say bait and switch? Sadly I can’t get a refund because I bought a physical game.

I was planning to get all skins from every dungeon…now it’s pointless…can’t find group anymore. All you see is people stuck in LA looking for FotM group.
GG Anet.
Doing some sPvP at the moment, if things will not change i’ll just quit.

I started to play less when I heard about the ascended gear a few days before the patch went live. Regardless, I was leveling one of my alts, so decided to stick around for a bit longer and see how the patch turned out (despite my reservations, and the frustration that came with knowing Anet was turning their back on their own design philosophy).

Then I played the first day of the event on November 16th, spent 45 minutes watching my ranger auto-attack things in slow motion, found out the new dungeon portal was broken, and haven’t logged back in since.

The combination of Anet’s latest content patch and their complete lack of proper playtesting for their event told me all I need to know about their “new direction.”

1. Just checking to see if something is done the game is good but several things are just missing.
2. before lost shore i was mostly playing spvp but before the event i lvled my first 80 to play the event.
3. I was planning to play pve a little but finding a group for a dungeon takes a while and sometimes isnt worth it (this game really needs a crossrealm dungeonfinder or at least some panel to post LFM or LFG like Aion) also didnt feel like playing spvp since i got bored of it. Now im just w8ing if they are going to add some kind of arena like pvp, my friends dont wanna play because the only option is conquest, sometimes is fun but it gets boring eventually.

So i stopped playing mainly because:

pve:
Finding members for a dungeon takes time and i thought this game will be different in this aspect, i was wrong. i dont care about treadmills or just playing for cosmetics but i hate if i feel im wasting time in a game by not playing it at all, i just prefer to do something else in that case.

Spvp:
1. just 1 mode, i really liked conquest but got bored of it i wish there was at least some other mode.
2. Rally: i think the downed state is a good addition but getting up for it by urself is dumb even worse with rally.
3.spvp is all about cosmetics but sadly u cant even use the dyes u get in battle.
4…rankings matchmaking…. sigh… spvp has so many things to improve… the sad thing is some are just too late to fix.

wvw:
bad culling this just kills wvw for me i hope they add some kind of setting so people at least tweak it i dont mind if i see a stick figure far away but not seeing it at all is worse.

now that i think of it, i made a thread back when the new big patch was annonced, i was happy with the changes thinking i would have fun, but now i see, it’s the community that ruined it, everybody is just fractals and fractal level limits are starting to appear(if you’re level 2 it’s hard to get a party since everybody wants higher)….i want to do something else and i’m not able.

The community didn’t ruin it. The design did.

1. Still come to the forums in the hope we see a non-ambiguous statement from ANet.
2. Started playing less after the announcement of Ascended
3. Lack of motivation due to the introduction of the gear treadmill
