I would like the option to toggle what kind of PVE dailies i get, being forced to Fractals isn’t something I would like to do. I’m not a pvper either.

This might come as a surprise but the PvP dailies do not actually require any real PvPing due to the existence of custom arenas setup(by players) either for dailies or for rank farming. You could probably get them done in the time between two world bosses.

Believe it or not, pve only players don’t even like to hop in custom arenas. I know I hate it. I did it for a short period when I was in a guild that had a custom arena for that purpose. But I always felt I was bothering people asking to do the pvp dailies, so I stopped.

1. Check what classes have daily winner.
2. Hop between different “rank farm” arenas till you end up in winning team.
3. Follow big train of players running to the middle point.
4. Press auto attack few times.
5. Pvp defender and pvp killer completed instantly. (If you need daily capture just join losing team and cap point nearest to your spawn. Or wait till next round and cap a point at the start. )
6. Always press “volunteer” when you see a pop up on the left side of the screen.
7. Wait till the end of the round.
8. Daily winner completed.

Takes 0 effort and less time than openworld event achievements. It is probably a bit different in NA but still as fast.

Just opening up the pvp browser menu gives me a bit of anxiety. PvE carebears like myself just aren’t comfortable with pvp at all, no matter how zero effort it is.

I just want a dungeon rotation included in PvE dailies. The rest I’m rather satisfied with. Well, maybe with the exception of some of the WvW ones…lower tiered servers sometimes get painfully boned because EotM is a hot mess and the WvW “zergs” are nonexistent at best. But that’s a whole can of worms with WvW that has nothing to do with the dailies.

I think the PVE dailies should be disected into group PVE and solo PVE. The way the rewards are currently structured I would recommend the group PVE daily to be one dungeon or fractal with all examples on an unweighted rotation. Similarly solo PVE should be a sickle/pick/axe along with a world boss or a zone activity foursome again on an unweighted rotation. At least that way ANet would still be encouraging those wanting to do dailies to get around all zones.

Certainly the double fractal should be consigned to the dustbin of history.

No, I like the double fractal dailies. Let’s me kill two birds with one stone. I enjoy fractals and I enjoy the rewards that come with it. This should stay as it is.

I like having specific world bosses as dailies, as it populates some quieter maps, even if for a short while. It’s probably the only one that should double-up. But the second one should be at the same time/close to same time.

Get rid of Map event daily please, it’s so bad. (Except Sparkfly during Teq and SW)

As someone who does a lot of fractals, I love double fractal days, but honestly they need to get rid of the single stage version. I have done 1 set with 3 different groups because people would join for one then leave if it wasn’t stage 3. But they should just make it a general Daily Fractal scale and not a given set (1-10).

IMO, Remove Fractals from the daily. For me it’s the most aggravating Daily as I quite simply despise Fractals… you can imagine my despair when it’s a double daily fractal… Urgh. Fractals and other Daily dungeons should be added as a separate daily and then up the daily cap to 4 rather than 3. Then put some better PvE one’s in.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

I despise daily:

Vista
Events
Gatherer
Mystic Forger
Crafter

I think they should be removed since they are far too simple and provide no challenge.

Daily fractal takes a bit of time and effort and is actually perhaps worth 10 AP.

why do you people think you should be rewarded with 10 AP for doing 5 minutes of work?

these super hard difficult despised fractals are so hard that you should get 10 AP because you can’t do them/cant be bothered????

I don’t find fractals hard to be honest. I find them tedious and not fun. So I don’t do them. And for the most part the rewards are trash unless you are at reward level 50 or some garbage like that. I don’t feel like grinding fractals until I can get decent rewards and crafting a bunch of ascended gear that costs too kitten much.

So you want 10 AP for something you can be bothered to do. Like getting a vista?
I can’t be bothered to do that tho. So you’re removing my double fractal to get easier ones?

Better pve ones?

Like Vista/Heart/PoI?
Gathering?
Jump Puzzle?

You just want 10 AP for standing around doing FAll don’t you?

also. Fractals can drop skins/weapon boxes/armor boxes at scale 19 – and do fairly consistently

I cannot fathom how some people are passionately declaring “I want less choices, and I want everyone else to have less choices too!” What is the huge problem with everyone having more choice and variety in how they have their fun?
If GW2 was a job, I could see the “Take whatever is shoveled out and be grateful for it!” attitude. But jobs pay us money, so there’ no need for them to be fun or enjoyable.(though that is a bonus if you’re so fortunate) Games pay in fun, not money. So a game needs to be fun and enjoyable, or who would play it? Who would stay at something that doesn’t “pay”?
We need a wide variety of choices to accommodate a wide variety of tastes, play styles, game modes, etc… Why would anyone argue for less options, less choices, or less variety?
Can anyone justify that to me?

Because why should someone be rewarded with their daily AP for going to a Vista/Gathering/Doing a brainless spam 1 world boss

Because that’s what they enjoy/do daily

and I’m rewarded with LESS

For doing a scale 50 Fractal (gets daily fractal done) then I have to do 2 other things.

That daily 50 fractal, might have gotten me some nice loot, but it was;

a) challenging
b) took time
c) used more than 1 skill and F.

The dailys need to be more challenging. Not less challenging and easier for everyone to complete just standing in DR

The Dailies reward system needs to be more flexible as well. 10 AP for any daily in each of the tiers is not really fair. Neither is the “All or Nothing” aspect. (10AP for 3, or 0 AP for less than 3)
IMO, each tier should individually reward AP in proportion to difficulty, with a bonus for completing all 3 tiers.
“easy” tier – 2 AP
“medium” tier – 3 AP
“difficult” tier – 4 AP
All tiers – 1 additional AP, for a total of 10
But this is all based on having more options in all tiers, categories, game types, etc…
And for anyone saying the reward isn’t proportional enough to the difficulty, you’re also being paid in the fun you’re having doing dailies how you want to.
People who want and enjoy more of a challenge, can have and enjoy more of a challenge. But the rewards only pay out so much.
People who have less time can do less, and still get AP, though they don’t get as much as people who do more. But the superior choice and variety, will help them accomplish more of the dailies, and maximize their reward.
Closing with a reminder, I still need someone to justify to me how less choice and variety in dailies is better.

The only thing I want removed is double-fractal days. =P

And that’s fixed by improving the cycling so that the two fractal items don’t intersect as they do now.

And add a “specific Dungeon path” completion. Or an entire dungeon/fractal tab with options in it: Dungeon path completion, fractal finisher, fractal tier x-x, etc.
A daily dungeon task could even reward stuff that normally gets skipped (like Kholer), to encourage groups to do it.

RE: Daily “Achievements” – Some of us seem to be hung up on the term “Achievements”, which in this context is a misnomer. These are “quotas”, or “activities”, but “Quota Points”, or “Activity Points”, doesn’t sound the same as “Achievement Points”. These activities have never been achievements, that’s just a term applied because it sounds better. So try not to get all hung up, and hot-and-bothered over “The A Word”. It’s really just a label, not a definition.
Getting a character to 80 is an achievement. Making an Ascended or Legendary item is an achievement.
So don’t get hung up on that term. It really doesn’t mean much in this context.

@ Rauderi – Sorry, that post wasn’t directed specifically at you. Many people have posted that they want things removed form dailes.(and in other threads also) I was just generally refuting that attitude.
Actually, “Double Fractals” is one of my pet peeves, also. I just want options added instead of being removed, so that we all have more choices.

I wasn’t taking offense, I was agreeing with you.

For the most part, the PvE dailies could be great, it’s just that some bits need refining.

Zone event completion needs to be Region (Maguuma, Kryta, etc) event completion, so players have options. When this was in place before, I didn’t notice the huge zergs like we have now. The system needs to return to that.

Region Vista needs to be Zone Vista. Right now, Vista is “go to capital city, find easiest vista,” and that’s just too easy. Zone vistas could usher some characters into unexplored zones.

The gathering ones sit in a good spot, but if I really wanted to believe in the “achievement” portion, I’d say to make them zone specific, instead of regional. Regional gives advantage to people with nodes (not that it’s a bad thing, I use mine :P), and it makes that a bit easy.

Fractal pairing needs to be upaired. Put Daily Fractal on the same reel as Fractal Tier x-x. That way, it still comes up, possibly even a little more frequently, but it doesn’t shut down PvE for a huge chunk of the players, as other options will still be available in PvE.

Many alts; handle it!

You can’t be “just standing”, you actually have to do something to accomplish those. Once again, the term “Achievements” is a misnomer. These are quotas, or activities.
Terminology and word-play aside, doing only the “easy tier” doesn’t get you any AP. It’s 10 AP for all 3 tiers, or nothing. And as I’ve stated in a previous post, I would change that as well. The tiers would award points for each tier completed, with more difficult tiers awarding more points, and an extra point for completing all 3 tiers.

You’re calling an appeal to majority fallacy here.

Lots of posts about the issue suggests that lots of people are incorrectly perceiving an issue where none exists. The daily AP isn’t the issue, but rather the perception by players of what the daily AP is intended to do.

Precisely. It is not intended to be a “log in, get AP” system, but rather a “log in, play the content we need you to play, get AP” system. It is for that reason they are NOT going to “improve” the AP system in a way that makes it easier to avoid WvW, PvP, or Fractals.

Here’s an idea. Use something called activity points and each activity would give you certain levels of activity points. Vista viewer would be like 1 where fractal 50 would be like 10. Then when you reach so many activity points you get daily achievement points. So just doing the one level 50 fractal could maybe by itself give you the max daily achievement points for the day while doing things like gathering and vistas would require you doing multiple things.

The previous system of dailies where we had a wide range of choices that put people all over the map was infinitely better. I usually don’t even bother doing the rather limited choices we have now. I really really don’t understand why they simplified it. I would think giving players wider choices for something like that is more in keeping with the “Play it your way” idea that ArenaNet wanted for the game.

Yes. Now it is. The previous iteration however was “make people log in and play at least moderate amount every day”. The new one indeed increases metrics in the areas Anet wants, as it channels people toward specific areas and activities, but is worse at making people stay in the game. Someone that dislikes fractals/pvp enough is more likely to just do not do any daily and just quit that day without playing at all. And if it happens too often, it may be easier for them to decide to stop playing completely.

I like the way the new dailies work aside from having one single map for event completer.
I wont even try to get that type done now. When i tried to go do those ones, unless it was sparkfly fen, it was a hassle to try to find events before they were completed. That one I think could be changed to a region instead of a zone. Also maybe more options for each catagory as well.
