I slogged through the event. I enjoyed aspects of it very much. I got the exotic box and earring at the end, but the rest of my loot was worth about 2 gold after the TP got their vig.

I’m unclear about the notion of inequality that seems to have everybody so riled up.

If someone did get a precursor weapon and chose to sell it, the money would have logically come from somewhere – the buyer would have had to “earn” the purchase price. So, the lucky winner of the RNG tilt-a-whirl is actually the recipient of a wealth transfer. Because the money is just moving between characters, this would not be inflationary per se.

On the other hand, more supply than demand could create a deflationary affect within the precursor market – in this case, the people who would really be “out” would be the folks who had lucked into finding a precursor before the “worst thing that has ever happened in a MMO” happened. It would seem that they may have lost unrealized market equity. Of course, that is sort of the nature of markets…

If there was some promise of rewards being purely related to time spent playing or that I was entitled to loot-related spoilers before choosing how to spend my time in-game, I must have missed it.

Awww poor Norida, got only 5g? Some of us got nothing because of lag and you don’t see us complaining. So what, they got 500g, it’s a game, big deal. I bet you wouldn’t cry here if it was you who got 500g. Let them enjoy and stop being so jealous and self entitled.

So yeah, now we don’t even have the right to post.

Oh and by the way they even edited the title, it was not “i believe inequality was created” but “YOU created inequality”

The way I see it, the problem people are having is that the possibility of a precursor reward was utterly disproportionate to the content of the event. No other event in the game has ever rewarded approximately 3 hours of gameplay, doable by a character of any level and experience, with hundreds of gold worth of value. Nothing has even come close.

Except for the Temple of Balthazar, which is reasonably completable in far less than three hours (I joined a mob that had it beat in thirty minutes or so) and also provides a chance at a precursor.

And that’s true of all the temples, IIRC, as well as by defeating the Claw of Jormag.

Whoops. So much for that narrative, eh?

Isn’t it odd how people only want to complain about THIS one, and not those? Granted, it’s mostly due to the perception that the odds at a precursor were so much higher (which is likely just a mix of confirmation bias and sampling bias at work), but it’s still very interesting that none of those events are ruining the game by offering a chance at a precursor, but if ANY new content does it, instantly the game’s broken.

Remember when our developers talked about “strengthening the core game”?
How’d that work out for us so far?
Now let’s try some ideas that will really work.

People who got a precursor can say with 100% certainty that the drop rate for them was 100% and with AN new found policy of "play for yourself and “F” everyone else" they’d be 100% correct.

Granted, I think it sucks, I only got 2 gold worth of anything but many have yet to do it at all, But it’s like comparing someone who has played the lottery for 50 years, Never won more than 100 bucks, Where as someone else played once and won billions. Small chance of dumbluck..

I understand the event is a one time event with increased rates. Well they ran the invite multiple times in fact, So no it wasn’t a one time event. It ran all day thus you had multiple chances to do it. There will be more events, There will be more things like this with increased chances just chill and wait or keep farming dragon chests like most people and use MF gear

So if I spent the event time farming four rares, threw them in the mystic forge, and out popped a precursor then that was horribly unfair to you as well? What were the actual odds of a precursor from the event?

I don’t think its the RNG alone that the OP is complaining about (although many people hate them) but because this was also a one time event. This along with the RNG with high precursor drops means many people got lucky and earned vast sums of gold, therefore artificially creating a large wealth gap consisting of the ones who got lucky at the RNG and those who didn’t. And to make it worse, it’s a wealth gap created by pure luck rather than being earned. At least with other RNGs, they even out a bit through farming / rolling multiple times.

thank god, finally someone see’s it the way I do!

" And to make it worse, it’s a wealth gap created by pure luck rather than being earned." <- This is the issue here people… The chance of precursor drops were HIGHER than any other event, you need to understand that. An vast amounts of money was made with barely any effort involved. I put a lot of effort into making gold, then tons of people who get lucky on this event suddenly make the same amount of gold (or more) that I’ve been building up over a few months? Yeah that’s a reason to quit a game.

See this is the problem. Why make an effort to farm/TP (or keep playing for that matter) when you can earn multiple times more than you would by farming, just for logging on for a 2 hour event? It makes no sense, and discourages people from actively playing.
