I'd like to help, ArenaNet
Excellent cover letter. Exquisite.
I’m sure they want to hire someone who’s going to be an enemy of the current team.
Haha post it here, for the laugh

That’s not a bad answer, actually.
Write your stories and what not, then post them in Community Creations. Let everyone see what you can do, and see what they think of it. If you’re good, you may start to get attention, even from the devs.
When CoH added the ability for players to make their own missions, one player really threw themselves into it and pushed the system to its limits. He made some pretty awesome stuff, so awesome that the devs noticed. Not long after, he became the dev known as Dr. Aeon, writing stories and missions for the team.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.

I have an idea for a commercial venture (play, movie, action figure, etc) involving the Guild Wars or Guild Wars 2 world. Shall I send it to you?
Unfortunately, ArenaNet cannot accept unsolicited ideas or submissions. As a result, we will not be able to review or consider submissions of this kind. We will not view e-mailed submissions and must return mailed submissions unopened.
Thus, the CC sub-forum may be your best bet.
Good luck.
No matter. I think I’ll save my creative ideas; this game has too much baggage. I wish the elements of the game that I love could be replicated in another game because I don’t like this game anymore.
One thing I certainly won’t miss is the ever present and ever contemptuous forum denizens who always manage to be the first responder (and second and sometimes third) in every thread. I wonder if they are proud of the dark clouds they cast. I also wonder if they ever actually play the game.
Buck, while I understand what you’re trying to do, you’ve certainly gone about it in an unprofessional way.
The way to have gone about it was to contact the office and send a query letter. Insulting the current writing of the game publicly isn’t going to win you any job offerings. It’s not how to handle it.
That said, the writing for games like this tend to be based on the lowest common denominator. As an avid reader, the story of games is not going to equal the story of books (in general anyway). Games not only have to deal with people who don’t follow story well, but they have to deal with people people who pretty much skip everything. It means the writing has to be more in your face and obvious, with less nuance or subtlety. When writing for a specific audience you have to consider who the game is being written for.
Clue, it’s not just you.

What he said.
I get that unfriendly and closed minded vibe from a portion of the forum community from time to time too Buck, but don’t let them dissuade from attempting to contribute and possibly make some improvements the game.
Haters will the hate things that are not the ‘status quo’.
Be sure to work the expression “puny mortals” into your criticism to maintain the proper tone.
Then refer to anyone who doesn’t see things your way as a “hater”.

If I was a person looking to hire someone and they said something like this, I would thank them for their time and put the application in the bottom of the pile.
Hmm.
While I agree the writing needs help in some fashion, you’re not making a good case for yourself in how you present yourself. It’s the sort of thing which doesn’t get you hired, and gets you “we’ll call you” as an answer.
I’d like to see what you could come up with. Heck I’d like to see what I could come up with if I really tried to redefine the game. Much like you, I’ve opted to instead save it for if I ever get a chance to run another D&D campaign. Or Ars Magica, in fact.
I think Anet should hire me to sit around and complain about everything they do that I don’t like while, at the same time, considering all of my opinions with the utmost of concern.
Only then shall we have peace.
