It’s one thing to nerf the item, it’s another to render them totally useless. 10s duration / 60s cooldown completely invalidate using them in any way, shape, or form, particularly with the way stealth was changed in PvE with this patch.

Yes, I am that mad about the cooldown on spykits, I will QQ hard on this. Why change this?! I used them for soooo many things. If you wanted a cooldown on them you should have implemented it from the beginning, there was no need to change them. Am I the only one that thinks this is ridiculous?! Also, I did not see this in the patch notes, maybe I missed it? If not, why do you do these stealth changes Anet, its just so rude. Please tell me there are others raging about this, I feel they are almost useless now. A one minute cooldown isnt even worth using it for the things you could use it for, I mean it’s for PvE…cmon smdh..

This nerf was sorely needed. Come on, a consumable that can keep you permanently invisible even during other actions or channels with no cooldown and that also instantly removed you from aggro tables? You want this in game? Really?

OMG is that what it does?! Jesus H Crackers.

10 seconds of invisibility is a pretty long time.

10 seconds of camouflage, not stealth, and with the new PvE invisibility mechanics means that when you’d actually want to use them, they essentially do you no good.

Your post in I don’t like the cooldown on Spy Kits was infracted by a moderator:loool…. u cant read my mind ………..

im just wondering…. do they even play their own game?its 6 month since release…. this item worked like intended. so why should it be an abuse to use them in many situations. pve is often just anoying with bad ppl in your grp. its just killing the fun….. pve is not balance and without them i would have quitted the game already …just ridicolus and anoying at many points if your grp is lacking in skill…..
there r so many changes that r killing the fun…. it look like they dont want ppl to have fun in the game. they want everyone to run citadel of flame path 1…. how can they force ppl doing this?

Jordy can you please use proper punctuation? It would make reading your posts easier.

“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”

I only needed these kits for the dredge fractals really because you know, ANet had a weird sense of humor when it comes to inmeasurable amount of dredges.

We always found that killing the dredge tends to eliminate the need for abusing any mechanics.

I disagree with everyone in this thread.

99% of the game can be done reasonably without the kits, but dat 1%. dat 1% where the situation/fight was dumb, and it was not the fault of you or anyone else in your party, where kits allow you to correct the inherent dumbness of the game, dat 1% is why i rage.

anet has made an infuriatingly bad habit of fixing the communities solutions to the games problems without fixing the reason we needed a solution (the games horsekitten).

THIS THIS THIS.

The reason people use things like the kits is because the game was so unbalanced in that 1% that there was no other way to get by a certain point.

Dredge fractal at 30+ is a prime example of this. Try getting past the mechanism without these kits. You’re gonna fail 99 times out of 100.

All this will do is make crews that get the dredge fractal reset the fractal run and try again for something different. That means players will play LESS of their content. If ANet was going to do something like this, they needed to make it so taking damage doesn’t interrupt the mechanism usage. A simple stray shot aimed at another player can screw over the entire group right now. Even if the person using the mechanism has full health.

Changes like these hurt the game deeply, not help it. It was a genuinely stupid and shortsighted decision to add a cooldown.

You haven’t played the fractals at any level beyond 20, have you? 10?

Admittedly 16. I hang my head in shame.

But… I have to admit the dredge one is one of my favorites. Lots of bags from them and the boss mechanics at the end I personally really like.

Just be honest and say that you haven’t played the dredge fractal past the lower levels.

You cannot come close to keeping up with them in most cases past lvl 20, and definitely not past mid 20s or 30. Just staying alive is enough of a challenge, let alone actually doing anything effective against them.

the thing with that is…dredge fractal 30+ is you really don’t need spy kits. mabye try another strat. no one said 30+ was going to be easy or that you need to go out and spend karma on something like spy kits to help you win.

You obviously haven’t run dredge past 30. It’s an unbalanced mess in that cage. There’s a massive difference between “difficult” and “nearly impossible.”

i’m on 34 sry

Then you have had someone in your group using the kits and weren’t paying attention. I’m in the 40s and have over 500 fractals completed. Getting by dredge without kits is a 1 in 100 without them. You’re just bragging falsehoods if you try to disagree with that.

Well, I’ll have to work it up to the 20s I guess and give it a go. So far I’ve had good luck on my mesmer, even being on the plates using things like mass invis, Feedback, the heal that reflects projectiles, clones… many clones…, greatsword knockbacks, … we’ll see how it goes.

Hang on… you mean to say the only reason you get that far is due to what some would consider an abuse of spy kits? Don’t get me wrong… being in the 40s is impressive in it’s own right… but are there any Fractals that at that level you can do without the “exotic use of in game items”?

maybe if there r 5 good ppl in your grp…. most ppl go fotm or arah with pugs….. thats a biiiiiiiiiiig difference……
carried already sooooo many people throuh frac and arah. this change is just insane…. its less fun for me since unexperienced ppl affect the hole grp now…..
all these changes lead to a angry community…. if your grp fails some ppl get angry… they kick ppl, they r frustrated…. if they wiped last time in an dungeon because there were unexperienced player, they wont give any newbie a chance to go with them….

since the WP change i changed already and its rly bad…. before that i didnt care if there is someone unexperienced in my grp. or if there is someone <80.
since they changed it, i dont take anyony whos is not experienced….

Again with defending waypoints. If there was only 1 mechanic more crutchy than spykits it was combat waypoints. You’re not supposed to graveyard zerg the boss, if you’re that bad you shouldn’t be beating the boss.

The whine in here from the crutch crowd is now brandy

Maybe they’ll now get around to nerfing content like the first part of the Dredge Fractal, that everyone seems to try to skip. (I’ve seen terrain glitches, mesmer portal glitches, etc.)

It doesn’t need a nerf. The exploit needs to be fixed.

Not worth the bag space anymore. Tossed out about 200 of them because 10 seconds alone isn’t enough to get you through the times you really needed them, and the leashing fix means I’ll never really use them casually.

Finally I recalled the stopgap solution of a great princess who was told that the
peasants had no bread and who responded: “Let them eat brioche.”
