I don't like the skins
Please, stop with those bone/leather/stone/rusty skins for weapons and even for armors, like the new one armor, the heavy one, that thing is awful ( the light one is amazing).
I’m tired of those pathetic skins with bone and rusty things on it. I want some nice blueish metal things, or some subtle effects on them.
Seriously, stop with those bone/rusty/leather/stone looking on the skins, please.
A knight in shinning armor has never had to prove his metal.

This.
Plate armor was expensive, and had to be fixed regularly.
gw2 armor design is strongly influenced by the korean games where the rule is: exaggerate everything.
gw1 was more western and conservative. there is also an oversaturation of armors (and weapons) in gw2 imo, each vying to be “look at me” in a kind of insecure subconscious need for self validation, while forgetting that the best design is often simple.
I just wanna put something out there:
Most of the armor in this game is not what I would really consider armor. The heavy and some medium sets, yes those are actual armor…. But light armor in this game should be called light clothes, since there is basically no real armor for a scholar profession…
Look up the definition for Armor, you’ll see it mentions nothing about clothes!Light armor is in a really bad spot in this game, Anet assumes wearing stylish Prada pants and Gucci top is considered to be a defensive clothing in combat. IMO I feel like scholar professions are trying to model for like a clothing company instead actually wearing something useful and fitting for battle.
But in the end it really is my fault for picking a “light clothes profession”, I should have known they would make it all " America’s Next Top Model Armor (clothes)"
This is absolutely the way I feel about everything as well. The armor classes in GW2 should be Clothing, Light Armor, and Heavy Armor. Almost none of the light armor is anything that could actually be considered protective, and most of the medium armor is just leather which I wouldn’t really consider “medium”, its the bare minimum of what would actually protect you and thus I’d say its Light. There are a few exceptions in each case, like a handful of the medium armors that have bone / scale (or a couple of the medium armors which are really thick leather which MAY be enough to protect to a medium degree) but for the most part, not so much.
Dragon Age did armor classes much better. Light armor was leather, medium was lightweight metals (chainmail or thin / partial platemail) and heavy armor was full on platemail.
Maybe the devs thought that cloth > leather > metal would be more visually diverse or something than leather > light metal / bone > heavy metal. I guess I could kind of see that, but I still personally would have preferred the lighter armors to see more like… well, armor.
As for the 3 new armor sets… not a fan of Braham’s set at all. I like full coverage for my heavy armor. It looks alright on its own, though. Phoenix armor looks great on females, pretty bland on males. I get that males probably wouldn’t want a feather dress type look, but I don’t know why they couldn’t keep the feather / fire theme a bit more intact for males, the sets look almost completely different on different genders. Unfortunately all 3 of my mage characters are male, so I won’t be picking that one up. Magitech armor looks amazing and I would buy that right now with one caveat… both of my Medium armor characters are Charr. And it looks TERRIBLE on Charr. Tail clipping, poorly fitted, stretching… the usual Charr fare. Really getting fed up with that. Not instantly fixing every old set of armor to work on Charr is one thing (though it’d be nice if they were slowly improving a set here and there at least) but c’mon, at least fit the brand new sets for Charr already.

At least there’s plenty of good heavy armor models.
Look at how awesome female light armor is. Then look at how bad male light armor is. This is a cosmetic-driven game where I, as a male spellcaster, can’t find any motivation to search for and earn light armor skins.
I was extremely disappointed at the male light Phoenix set, yeah. It would be nice if they had kept a similar look to the female armor, instead of just reusing a bunch of mismatched pieces that don’t look like phoenix type stuff at all.
Why can’t we get elegant, close-fitting, feathered stuff too? :< Let us be beautiful, ANet!

Heavy armour has the worst sets in the game not to mention the helmets are some of the worst I have ever seen. /Opinion, /RemoveArmourTypeBarriers.
