get a job.
10$ an hour converts to 100 gold. no method in the game will earn you taht much. instead of wasting time ingame just farm your gold in rl.
I think many of us can easily afford to spend 10 or 15 dollars a month on gems to sink in to gold, and I’ve known many who do, like a subscription, and that’s their prerogative. However, I think it’s more the principle of it for a lot of players. It’s perceived by many as cheating and with SO MUCH stuff going account bound so that you cannot take shortcuts, and so much focus on ascended (Which I’ll never have the time for), I think ANet tends to agree.
In my opinion, the cash shop should only be cosmetic things, vanity items like minis and convenience items like the boosters, bank/bag slots, rez orbs, etc and the gem to gold conversion should never have existed. Now, I’m no hardcore player by any means, I don’t farm compulsively, I don’t even do dailies regularly and I usually take the spring and summer off from GW2 where I essentially don’t play at all, but after 3 years I’m just getting to a point where I’m nearly finished a legendary with everything either collected or purchased in game. Will my Twilight be any better than the Twilight owned by a guy who bought it using real money? No, but I can guarantee I’ll appreciate more. For me, I’ve worked on it on and off over the years, a journey that’s kept me coming back, sometimes playing the TP, making long term investments in valuable items, or participating in the champ trains or sometimes just running around with some noobs to give them backup when doing what are now known as hero points.
I won’t begrudge anyone who chooses to use real money to buy gold, but I’m with that group of players who does consider it to be a bit of a cheat.
