I turn off Music while playing
Nope. The music is one of the best parts of GW2 in my opinion. I actually have my settings to have music louder than most of the sound effects and to play more frequently.
Music is a decided strength in GW2 (along with art). I love it and it will never disappear from my settings.
I actually listen to it outside of the game. I love it.
I did turn the music all the way down in GW1 once… But after a few weeks, I turned it back up, and it was amazing. I couldn’t believe I had been playing for so long without the epic feeling the soundtrack brought to the game.
I suggest you turn the music back up after a few weeks.

I actually do turn off the music as well, just a preference of mine. I like hearing the ambient sounds over the music.
Yes, it feels more real but just as others, I can’t turn it off. It’s just to awesome

Personally I play with the sound off because I like to watch hulu on my laptop, but I do this for every game I play. I do turn the sound back on for any cut scene/voice acting though. But, I do like the music, so much that I bought the sound track last December.
I have never run any game with its music on.
GW2 is actually the first game in over 12 years that I have run with game sound on.
I can fully understand!
Music is really nice, but for me it is too constant, or sometimes even illustrative/intrusive. It would be a shame to turn it off completely, so it just sits just on a few percents in my situation. You can barely hear it (bits more of like from inside your own head), but it’s still there and contributing towards atmosphere.
I don’t turn off the music, however I usually have other music so I just hear attack sound effects most of the time
I usually turn the music off in any game after listening to it once. Then if I want to listen to MUSIC I queue up some classic rock. Nothing like destroying an enemy zerg while listening to “Helter Skelter”, “Easy Living” or “Taking Care of Business!”
Then for the enemy I get a giggle when “Born to Run” is playing!
I turn it off sometimes when there’s an album I want to listen to while playing, but I generally keep it on. I totally see what you mean about the game feeling more real, I just like it with that extra dash of epic. Especially during the Personal Story. A lot of the cinematics really hinge on the music there.

Everything I say is only in reference to PvE and WvW.

I turned it off about 2 weeks from release TBH lol, the music is great but it’s basically the same thing no matter where you went in the game, the lack of variety started to get annoying.
Depends on the mood. Especially in some of the more “foreboding” areas I’ll turn off the music.
But I’m actually not a big fan of GW2’s soundtrack. I replaced most of it with Skyrim’s. Both soundtracks were done by Soule so, it works.
The battle themes in Skyrim were particularly amazing, and hearing this gets me pumped to no end.
Might be worth noting that the only thing I enjoyed from Skyrim was the soundtrack.

Agree………Such a big game with a big file but a few variety of songs.
No, turning it off would be a sacrilege to me. The music adds alot to the atmosphere actually. I did, however, add some of my favourite tracks through custom playlists.
If I could have a soundtrack in real life, I would.
This thread.
Everyone needs a little optimism!
I kept it on all the time till this LS event. Since the battle music is on like 99% of the time and it started getting annoying. Not to mention it would eventually break my spell and other sound effects and all I would hear is the bgm.
I’ll turn it back on when this event is gone though. I do enjoy it.
This game has music?!
My ears are so shot that I’ve never noticed one way or the other lol.
I like the music quite a bit.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
I leave it on some days / hours, turn it off other hours/days to do listen to whatever i want, but with the LS zerg madness and fights 100% i do get bored with those tracks and listen to my music.
Kaiji Ruko – 80 Ranger, Revanat Shadowdeath – 80 Necromancer
I would love to have the gw2 music playing more often but due to that kitten annoying combat music any time you fight 3+ mobs being so horrid I just don’t leave it on. Seriously if I attack 3+ moas or something in queeensdale for the fun of it I do NOT need to hear that stupid combat music especially when it bugs out a lot and does not end until you move some distance off.
Not a fan of Jeremy Soule, so I listen to Touhou Project music instead. Keeps me alert.
2 other soundtracks that are good to listen too while playing GW2 are:
1 – The Lord of the Rings movie soundtrack.
2 – Final Fantasy X Soundtrack.
Of course I mean the full soundtracks and not just the main themes lol. LOTR is about 3 discs and FFX is 4 discs.
If I want to listen to music while gaming I will just fire up Winamp.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
If I listen to music while playing the game, I’ll turn on my stereo.
Very, very few games have music that I would actually like to hear while playing and this isn’t one.
Music?
Oh you mean the musak? It’s like having tinnitus.
First thing I did with this game was to search for how to turn the kitten ed noise off.
Now if I could only find out how to turn down the overcooked particle effects it would be wonderful.
