Page bug. But yeah, if you’re seeing ads while playing the game, you’ve got malware.

GW2’s ingame browser uses chrome, you mentioned IE. problem solved, close IE, scan your computer for malware, then never use IE again because it is bad.

There’s a lot of advice in here. Some good, some bad. Post your credentials if you’re going to post advice so I can sort through the posers.

Credentials? I’m seriously wondering if you’re just trolling now. But yeah, the answer is pretty simple: scan and clean your computer. Download ADWCleaner, run a scan, download and scan with Malwarebytes.

Stop using IE.

It’s clearly a registry issue. Google ‘registry cleaner’ and then look for a result that is free and promises to supercharge your PC. The more caps and exclamation marks, the better the product. Click on the link for it and follow the instructions, including clicking on any and all links that the site shows you. In no time at all your current problems will seem insignificant.

Or use avast or others with option to run a boot scan which checks the registry. But flashing lights speed up your computer may be the source of the problem to begi with.

It is definitely your computer.
GW2 would never open your browser and it certainly doesn’t have ads of any form within the game.

You have malware…

It does open your browser for certain things, like the /wiki command, certain buttons, and certain NPC dialog options., but never to ads. Only to official sites, including GW2’s Twitch page.

Install this: https://adblockplus.org/

Download this, and run the .bat to install the HOSTS file to the correct location. – http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.zip What this does is block out a ton of ads redirecting them to a location that doesn’t exist.

I have never seen an ad in game, ever.

I deleted all of the GW2 files and reinstalled with a fresh client and it seems to be going swimmingly.

I know that every time I do it, I stop getting those infernal pop-up ads.
