I think the multi guild system needs to go. It was great the way it was in GW1 and it allowed for GvG to be meaningful. It creates loyalty and bonding as a group.

However at the moment guilds don’t seem important at all compared to GW1. It GW1 you had a guild hall, with its own vendors, a physical place to talk, hang out, have meetings. Then there was GvG which was AMAZING.

Here in GW2, being in a guild just gets you another chat window and a way to gain influence to get some buffs.

Bottom line remove the multi guild system and add better features for guilds to make them more important, Guild Halls, GvG, etc (All the good from GW1)

I never cared for GvG. The Guild Halls were nice, as a way to meet your guildies, but not required. And I love the multi-guilding we have now, as I can join guilds based on what I want to do. I do not see any difference between guilds in GW1 and GW2….

The multi-guild system is a excellent feature. However, currently it has many problems due to the lack of tools around guilds.

- Leaders cannot see how often members represent, or are online.
- There’s no ingame or centralised listing of all guilds, so people can find a guild that’s right for them.
- There’s no ingame way of applying to join a guild (you have to hope that an officer happens to be online at the same time as you.)
- There’s no penalty for keeping a zombie guild running even though there are zero active members.

If there was a slight cost to keeping guilds running (or zombie guilds are automatically deleted after a period of near-total inactivity), if it was easy to find and apply for a guild that fits your needs, if it was easy for leaders to identify inactive members, then I believe that the multi-guild system would work great.

I think the net effect would be that many people would start to come together in various large mega-guilds, and then there will additionally be some small and very active guilds focusing on specific activities. The vast majority of “me and my friends and some random people” guilds would then dissappear as they aren’t very useful.

It sucks that some of you guys are having issues with the multi guild system, though I can see where it has it’s issues. I’m sure there are players who abuse the system on both ends as leaders and members, my guild is small( 20 )but we’re friends IRL so we don’t have any of these issues there are two members in another guild and their married so that’s totally ok with the rest of us.

I thought it was great at first – I started the game in a small guild of friends, that’s not very active, but occasionally I like to rep it so I can communicate with the people in it. I thought, “this is great – I can keep in touch with these guys that aren’t that serious, AND be in a larger more serious guild like I want to be”. But no. Apparently, not full-time repping is a kick-able offense if you join almost any larger guild. You will get hassled to rep constantly, and eventually you’ll just have to leave because of harassment or get kicked.

TLDR: No one allows you to actually rep any guild other than their own, these days – you will be kicked for daring to actually rep one of the smaller guilds you’re in. So what’s the point of the multi-guild system, in that case?

I just had my ENTIRE small guild invited to this other larger, yet still small guild I joined.

I like to call it a merger. Anyway, it worked really well and now there’s plenty of people online at once.

Now, i’m debating making my personal guild storage into personal personal storage…

but i’d have to rebuild the rep from when I switched servers. =/

In my guild, I not only “allow” people to represent other guilds, I encourage it when it makes sense. Its unreasonable to assume that one guild will offer everything every player wants.

I think having a few members who split their time helps to build community – rather than damage it. We recently developed stronger ties to another PvE guild on our server thanks to a member who was splitting his time between the two. The result was more people to group up with in organized dungeon groups and more people to call out to when the guild is playing in a particular zone, tackling a larger group Dynamic Event or invading a zone in WvW.

The key is for guild leaders to embrace the system and what it offers them – rather than fight against it by telling members they cannot rep multiple guilds.

The sad thing is, that you can’t create a guild anymore with your friends, if you don’t have a large number of guild members, you automaticly have less buffs for your guild and people don’t like that, so they go represent another large guild, which is basicly the same as leaving because you’ll never represent a guild with less buffs while you are playing.
