This game has the potential, but unless anet puts the work into new permanent content, I can’t see it going much further.

I know they look at the forums, they know people are getting tired of LS and want expansion type content.

I’m not tired of the Living Story. I’m more tired of tight timeframes to finish some of those “meta achievements”, and more annoying bits bleeding into WvW. Seriously, those toxic offshoots were just a huge nuisance, making it a little difficult to handle mercenary camps in Eternal Battlegrounds.

. . . oh, and I’m still through with Zojja. Until she is dropped in The Desolation with no canteen or toolkits, in one of the sulfur pits, I might have to contemplate adding asura to the list.

First Ascalon, then Rata Sum.

I agree with the TC mostly. I used to get every achievement point I possibly could and wanted to be on the leaderboard but there are just too many dailes and monthlies in addition to the bi-weekly living story achievements (many of which are temporary) that it actually became stressful because I had to force myself to log in everyday even if I didn’t feel like it. This is why I quit the game back in August and came back about a week ago. Now I no longer care about Achievement Points. I used to blame the game for forcing me to log in everyday and grind Achievement Points but I have since realized that it was my mistake so I no longer have any issue with this. It is just as it should be, hardcore players who spend more time and effort on the game should have more achievements to brag about.

I have mixed feelings about the Living Story. The lore was interesting initially because Living Story was a new concept at first but it got boring really quickly for me and the only reason I bother with it anymore is for the unique rewards (skins, minis etc) and Achievement Points. As soon as a New Living story patch is out I just head to Dulfy and read how to get achievement and do them as I read. I just can’t seem to get interested in the story. New content every two weeks is just overkill and the living story quests are generally repetitive and grindy. The bright side is that some of the Living Story content is really well done like the Zephyr Sanctum and the cutscenes in the latest one were very well done which gives us the impression that ANet are putting in a lot of effort.

I won’t complain about Ascended items because they are not really needed. The difference in stats between Exotic and Ascended is not much and there is no content in the game that is hard enough to not be able to beat with Exotic (apart from high level fractals). Ascended items are for those people who complained that GW2 lacked an endgame and that they needed something to work on to stay interested in the game so if you find it grindy, I suggest you don’t bother getting them. Exotic items are fine. You can still get the ascended trinkets with Laurels and from Fractals. I share the same view on Legendaries as well. If you find them tedious to work on, stop working on them

My biggest issue with the game right now is how empty most maps are. It seems all players are either in Queensdale, Frostgorge and sometimes in Cursed Shore zerging champions and events. All the other maps seem to be Ghost towns. I would like Anet do more to encourage players to visit the other maps. I know they are aware of this and have been trying to address this but so far they haven’t. This gives the impression that the game is dead. I miss how large the game world felt back in August 2012 when every map had lots of people talking about how beautiful the map was.

I personally don’t find the game grindy at all. I do pretty much what I want at any given time.

I like the fact that I can gather mats while I’m in WvW. I already liked PvP, but adding gathering into it makes it more convenient.

However, I’m still a long way from crafting an ascended piece, but I’ll just take my time with it. I’m not like some people who rush through content and have to have everything right now, which is what it seems many people in my generation want.

people want ascended right now because they bought this game on the purpose of having thst BiS soon after 80. (comparing to “grindy games” anet doesnt do)
and because they didn t even know of their existence at that moment.
