Is Zojia really bald?
After extensive research, controlled experiments, and precise data collation, it seems that the aforementioned foreign head-growth, “hair,” is an evolutionary remnant, a biological characteristic leftover from a prehistoric time period where humanoids were so simplistic that they could not fashion clothes or proper shelter. Consequently, their bodies had to generate said hair to prevent said simpletons from freezing to death in their dirty little caves.
So do not judge the great Zojja for being more evolved than you!
Furthermore, Asura do not wear “headgear.”
We wear eargear.

He’s right!
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.
Yes she’s bald. It was even more noticeable back when personal story removed NPC helms.
My Asura has stylish hair.
I don’t think she is. Blame the stupid clipping.
So many opinions and such, keep it up. I guess now whenever I’m bored in game I can play “rub the baldy” instead of my time honoured “Asura leap frog”. So much fun!
Hey at least it’s not tossing dwarves, because you NEVER do that!

I posted the screen of that. Yeah. It’s pretty obvious she is in fact bald.
Now we are debating why she is bald. Is it because the developers just never imagined her having hair, is there a lore reason, is it a Zojja practicality reason, etc.

Cuz her headgear would make her head itchy if she had hair. She never takes it off.
Also keeps it from lighting on fire during experiments or getting tangled in battle.

I think this reason is extremely legitimate.

Images are blocked from the proxy im using at work to access website lol.
On topic:
Well being asuran female doesnt mean she has to have hair at all, even if it just matter of design due clipping issues.
Species are not defined by human looks and behaviors, humanized game toons sometimes turns to be a litle childish and less imersive.

That’s true.
This thread has made me increasingly curious about the majority of Asura opinions on hair. We see many many Asura NPCs with hair. Vekk in gw1 had hair. So is there a reason behind “this Asura chooses to while this one doesn’t” or is hair color and such hereditary, is it artificial, etc. I’m very curious about Asura lore.

Further research into asuran hair patterns is conclusive:

To be fair that first picture could have been drawn before or while they were still deciding if they would in general have hair or not. In the end they obviously went with “well why not have both bald and with hair?”
They had hair in GW1, sometimes. Sometimes quite a lot of it, in fact; Oola’s hair was enormous. But it was never styled similarly to what you typically saw on humans.
As far as heredity and color goes, their hair and eyes were usually black or very dark brown. Gadd is the only one I can think of off the top of my head that had light colored eyes in GW1, and his one known offspring did not.
It seems as though exposure to other cultures might have changed Asura a bit, their way of visually designing things, and how they dress aren’t quite the same as they used to be. They also seem less inclined to call people bookahs. They might have adopted a few human beauty ideals considering some of the hair options. And they also seem to have developed more genetic variation since coming to the surface since they display a wider range of colorations and other variations than seen in GW1.
They also seem to have gotten more “cute” on average, in the way that a baby animal is cute. There were some plain grimace-inducingly weird looking asura in the first game. Which is not a bad thing. I’d like to see a few more face options similar to those you saw on some NPCs in GW1.
This screenshot was taken during the time the game was plagued by a bug that caused npc’s not to display their helmets during cutscenes. As you can see, she is clearly bald.

Yes but I don’t trust bugs, the bug could have easily taken any hair out as well. :P
The thing is with NPC headgear showing in cutscenes (BTW WHY DONT WE HAVE THAT OPTION I SPEND GOOD MONEY ON NICE ARMOR!) I dont think those NPC models have hair to begin with since they never need to be toggled in or out. For example, the seraph in the human PS opening mission was bald and so were a bunch of other characters.
Proud player of Crusader, Arcanist,
Beastmaster, Shadowraider, and Shieldbearer Zakk!
I would hope she is! Bald is the right way to Asura!

For you maybe.

I doubt such a large portion of Asura are born bald, It’s most likely just the most common haircut in Asuran culture, like the crew cut in the US.
