Ferguson’s Crossing
(edited by Sylentir.8913)
I play an human engineer, and more or less only my engineer. I mean, I’m making alts for achievements, but whenever I play a non-engie I find something or several somethings I miss about my main. I’m very attached to and proud of my class, and will shamelessly promote it at any opportunity.
In terms of playstyle, I’m all over the place. I do condinades, healing bombs, elixir gun, flamethrower, toolkit, and even experimented with unheard of “no kits” builds (wasn’t worth it). Melee is fun, ranged is fun, halfway between the two is fun. I like to fill less popular roles when I can, which means no zerker for this girl. I’ve got a full Rabid set for my condinades build and a full Cleric set for my bunkerbombs/elixirgun support builds, and my next goal is a full set of Soldier’s or Sentinel’s for my toolkit bunker build. Back when I played WoW, I refused to play DPS, and enjoyed my Shaman healer and DK tank.
I avoid skimpy armor as much I can. I want to look good, but good does not necessarily have to mean sexy. I wouldn’t go outside IRL in the l80 medium exotic drops or the t3 human cultural, and neither would my character. I want to look as nice as I can, without exposing half of my midriff. I like the HotW set, the recently released gem store set, the conquest set, and such. Attractive, but not necessarily sexy.
EDIT: I also went with the smallest, thinnest physique because it feels like it fits the character. I’m not strong, tough, or magically inclined, but I do have the intellect necessary to make myself the tools to survive. On my warrior/guardian alts, though, I generally pick the biggest and strongest options available.

My GF played a Sylvari elementalist as main but now is in love with her Human Guardian. I think armor is not a trend unless one fabric is more “fashionly” designed that the others.
I can’t remember what my wife played as she tried it out.
I think Warrior was the first choice, because she liked how tough she looked.
I play male guardian because whenever I main a female heavy-armour class in any game, they come out with ridiculous iron bikinis and I like to look like a knight and not a stripper.

That isn’t necessary, this game has some of the best heavy armor I’ve seen. Relatively little is revealing, and none of it is optimal gear.
The question really is, why does it matter?
I see loads of guys that play light armoured professions and I see plenty of woman play heavy or medium armoured professions.
I main a mesmer and play thief as secondary. I like the agility of those professions, what type of armour they wear is irrelevant.
People are too caught up with gender stereotypes. Everyone likes something different, doesn’t really matter why or what gender you are as long as you enjoy playing what you do.
There is also no way to get statistics on this anyway so you could never get a clear picture of what a particular gender prefers and again who cares it isn’t important
I have 5 characters – a human female ranger, norn female engineer, sylvari female elementalist, asura female guardian and charr male thief.
So 3 medium, 1 heavy and 1 light armored and my main is the ranger.
I have to admit once she’s levelled up and it’s worth thinking about I fully intend to put the ele in the most revealing outfit I can pull together, but that’s as much because it fits her personality as anything. The rest vary between that and total coverage. Although I’d like something semi-revealing for my charr because I like his fur pattern.
yes i play a mesmer and yes i gave her sexy clothes, but i do not see why u gotta make a thread about this. i could also say most teenagers will main a thief to feel like a real assassin that is uncatchable and most of the guys main a warrior or a guardian because they like heavy armor!
i also have a guardian, warrior and ele and there is guys that main a female mesmer, there is girls that main a male norn guardian and have a commandertag in wvw!
and just FYI:
“girls like sexy light armor and love the skimpy look” my male friend mains a female mesmer that he puts into the skimpiest armor there is
“girls pick rangers to have cute pets” my male friend mains a female half naked ranger with all the cute pets and loves to turn into a quaggan and recently purchased the endless cattonic ;-)
so please guys could u stop stereotyping us? ty! im a pvp kinda person and was in clans for years and, no not hello kitty online… first person shooters!

My first character after the game’s release was a guardian charr. And I loved it! But then I got tired and decided to make a sylvari warrior. I wanted the Oaken Helm (Tier 3 armor), so I had to make another heavy-armor class. Didn’t want another guardian, so I rolled a warrior. And I adore it! I’ve never been one for the light-armored classes, though I have tried playing each race/class at least once. My Warrior is my new main, though I do play my guardian from time to time, especially when my warrior gets pwned and I need to cast my vengeance! =P
Like I said in the title, I was just curious :P Not out to stereotype people, just saying what I’ve observed -personally-. Anywho, I met a really funny woman who played a giant norn man with a curly mustache :P So I understand that women and men play all sorts of characters.

So true, not all males prefer looking at halfnaked females. Many seem to prefer looking at halfnaked male Norns instead. Hm.

Norns have the sexiest females by far.
I have never tried to go sexy on my characters, I tried to go with a simple look for all my characters
I love them and to me they look amazing.
to me my most skimpy character is my Mesmer in whispers armour.
for her I wanted a very elegant and plain look.
Most female gamers in the guild I’m in also play Lights. …& a few mediums.
They’re no wilting flowers or “casuals” either, most of them PvP a lot more than I do.
Some even roll bishy Male characters…
I have no theory what-so-ever for why this is beyond pure aesthetics. But it is consistent with most other female gamers I knew from Gw1 as well as TF2 (who usually played Pyro, Sniper, & especially Spy along with one who only played scout…) None of these are easy classes to play. Warrior is the easiest class in this game to play well for example… (atleast in PvE) …so I’m pretty sure there’s not much consideration for ease, convenience, or skill even though there is wide differences in skill levels between various female gamers and they can’t be generalized one way or another.
Male gamers obviously do tend to flock to whatever is easiest to achieve Maximum performance on or to compensate on for various shortcoming elsewhere….
(Disclaimer: there are always a few exceptions like 3 or 4 females I knew who ONLY played Heavy/Soldier. Meanwhile None of my 3 female characters are “cute” & “sexy” …in fact, each one is more domineering or aggressive than my 2 male characters combined and inspired by IRL females I knew)
