I have nothing to spend Laurels on, so making them farmable in unlimited quantities is a horrible idea. Even after spending them on the Mystery Cat Tonic, and Ascended stuff, I have a pile that just sits there.

I think the best choice you could have made is not quit playing. Just because you decided to return to the game, you’re not Entitled to catching up for all the lost time you chose to lose.

Why do you always capitalise entitled?

This is not progression since it dosent make your character stronger. But i just thought i could lvl up at least 1 character of every profession lvl 80 full exotic (since i cannot get ascended at the moment). Thats progression, im happy now.

Actually that IS progression though, vertical vs horizontal progression, vertical is what Guild wars 2 works under, Stop being ignorant just because you are not capable of understanding vertical progression

If selfish k-train zergling or EotM player then yes.

If not then:
- Use it for siege/traps
- Gift siege to people (commanders) who are actually in dire need of badges
- Just convert it to gold

Badges are very far from useless.

I didn’t say they are useless. Just that most WvW players will end up with more than they need, unless they are commanders or other tragic heroes who deploy ginormous amounts of siege.

Plus regular siege costs next to nothing on TP. You can buy easily what you need from there without spending a single badge. It’s the superior siege that is costly. Too bad we cannot purchase those directly with badges.

You didn’t, LunarNacht did who I replied to originally.

Well if they are too lazy to make super siege that’s not my problem

You are aware that you can convert (some with a lot of hassle – karma) these into gold, right?

Yup.

. . . but that reply pretty much leads to exactly where the frustration sets in. Why bother having other currencies if it all flows into one anyway?

It goes back to the old BLTC forums and many, many discussions there. I would suggest looking at smooth penguin post history and those archived threads for some good reading.

Smooth has a good way of cutting to the heart of the matter in an entertaining manner, which in the BLTC forum usually revolved around people feeling Entitled to things that the rest of the players had to work for.

^He has not convinced me of anything except his lack of altruism as for now.

You not having problems with laurels is not a reason to defend this major flaw. Try to be more altruistic on this matter. Would you be concerned to see Anet removing time gates on Laurels now to help other players because you have loged in more or less casually to get them?

I would have a problem with any currency that I was limited in acquiring and then it gets thrown at other players.

If you’re like Wanze and you would have a problem if a change affect the acquisition of something you worked hard for and make it more accessible for everyone… then brace yourself because it happened in the past and will most certainly happen again in the future in almost every MMO you’ll ever play. Like i said, take it the good way.

And please:

Do not call someone an ignorant because he has a different understanding of a gaming term than you. After reading the full thread it is absolutely clear that i refer the term “progression” to the fact that my character gets stronger stats/skills/gear wise. Suggest me a better term instead.

1) ignorant means lacking knowledge or understanding of something. If one does not know that horizontal progression exists, or does not understand it, then one is in fact ignorant of horizontal progression. I am not claiming that this apies to you, just trying to explain that ignorant is not necessarily an insult as it can be merely an objective description of facts at hand.

2) its not that getting stronger, as you mention, is not progression its that it is only one form of progression. There are several.

I find it mostly a problem for people who take brakes or are new to the game.

Because quite honestly if you dont’ take any break. You would have 1000 laurel by now. I’m not sure how anyone find that not enough for alt. (besides the altaholic who want the tonics).

Altruism: the belief in or practice of disinterested and selfless concern for the well-being of others.

Your feelings of being Entitled to more laurels that you deserve is in no way affecting your well being except in some damaged psychological way. In response, How much real money have YOU given to various charities and good causes over the last year?* I know my conscious is clear on how altruistic I am in the real world.

Maybe, but 9/10 times he is correct.

*Thats a rhetorical question. I really dont care or will believe whatever you answer.
