Listen. Two months from now will be about a year and a half from release. A year and a half after GW1 release, we already had Factions and Nightfall. That’s two new continents, four new classes, two new skillsets for all classes, new PvP modes, two entirely new stories, multiple elite dungeons, and bunches of other things. At near the same point in GW2 we’ve got…Southsun? Fractals? Temporary content? Did you guys set the bar too high last time or what?

In two months we’d better be sailing ships into Cantha. Zhaitan is dead; the path is open. Let’s go already.

What burns me up the most is their silence treatment behavior it’s the complete opposite from before launch. We used to get a lot of articles about development and now they behave like I could tell you but you are on a no need to know basis or I could tell you but I’d have to kill you. Then they wonder why we have no faith in them.
I want to hear a confirm of an expansion, new zones or elder dragon 2 is coming before the end of June or at the latest August, and gem support for 2014 has already fallen to 0% opposite quite a hundred dollars in 2013 and that is a direct result of poor armor and weapon looks being added to the store only and none for merchant sales.
GW1-100% dedication to player base, GW 2 dedicated to the store only after all this is a business first and we are here simply to be milked.

So yeah let’s speculate we’re getting the 4 last episodes of that Silvary adult child putting up a tantrum. Not even a hint at a content interview for 2014. I speculate to become an EX player by August’s end.
P.S: No MMORPG can survive without an expansion not even if it’s replaced by by-weekly updates.

Well this was a buzzkill. I just started playing GW2, and even though I’m late to the party, I’m loving it! How can people hate on it this much? I pretty much despise WoW so I’m not sure how people are saying they might go back to WoW, the least interactive, least immersive, most gear based, calculator combat ever invented. The combat, the questing system, are all far better here in my rookie humble opinion.
I’ll admit that I never really got into GW1, but from my limited experience with it, it was entirely instanced right? No open world filled with other players, if you left town at all it was an instance. Anyways, I like this much better.

I find that most people base their opinion of WoW and what it was several years ago but it’s different now. At least there, I get a story. It’s not the best story, admittedly, but it’s better than the incoherent mishmash that it is here. Hearts are disguised as the most grindiest quests. And the combat here? Come on. It’s 1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1 and randomly dodge once in a while because you can’t see tells due to particle effect spam.

Look, I’m disappointed with the game too but it doesn’t help your case to misrepresent other games. I gave GW2 a shot. They’ve had about a year and a half to fix things but chose to take it in a different location. I saw the writing on the wall and moved on.

2. Talk to this npc.
3. Pick up the quest.
4. Go kill 15 boars.
5. Return to the npc.
6. Pick up new quest.

Here is a quest in GWII:

1. Be in this area.
2. There are 3-5 objectives, you can do whichever of them you want to. Or mix and match.
3. Go about your day.

How on earth is that a grindy quest?

Honestly, I’m surprised that they haven’t explored the fact that the human gods are gone. Would’ve been fun to learn more about that in game, but instead we get Rita Repulsa, uh…I mean “Scarlet”.

The only “innovative” thing with the heart system is that it lets you pick your poison. Choices boil down to collect, kill, or some combination of both. And this, at the cost of having any sort of overarching story for a specific zone.

Quests and storytelling are two completely different things.

Just in case you’ve played WoW; how did me picking up 15 cactus apples help the orcs in Durotar in their conflict against Kul Tiras?

The storytelling in GWII is really poor, but that has nothing to do with quests.
It has to do with the fact that ArenaNet strictly wants to voice act everything storybased, which is ridicolously limiting.
They are against walls of text, not story.

I do like GW2 and I do wish they introduced something amazing… But when things like this come out ( notice it’s only some raw alpha footage ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jh_73qvfI8Y, it’s gonna be tough… And when I say “tough”, they’re gonna do something better than introducing Scarlet-like stories…:/

Also really looking forward to that “Heroic movement” where you can double jump, flip, teleport mid air, slide down hills,vaulting over ledges,leaping far distances, wear magic boots that make you float, and probably a lot more when it launches.
In gw2 I am kinda getting tired of always being tethered to the ground with a boring slow walk and a few speed buffs because waypoints justify not having any of that stuff or mounts.

Also heard that they are already working on the first expansion for EQN right now which is how they intend to generate the most income as it will be F2P.

They working on the first x-pac without having released the game? oh well thats Sony!

Don,t remind me. How did a dev so based like Anet that was so dynamic back in the first year and half of Guild Wars 1, into a dev of a game that don’t feel like moving forward at all, with all it’s temporary content, with most of it’s new weapons and armors being cash shop only, with still no light at the end of the balance tunnel.

The game right now is centered around RNG, farming, zergfest, dailies and the cash shop with no fun allowed to a disgusting level.

I also play LotRO and while I agree I’ve seen zone story done much more fluidly and compellingly, I would point out there is a little more of it in GW2 than you might think – its just handled by the scouts (the spyglass icons on map) who will tell you about what’s going in in each area. Unfortunately once you complete a heart the scout won’t talk to you anymore, so it’s really easy to miss those introductions.

I think Anet was originally intending to deliver GW1 style expansions every 6 months or so which would have contained a lot of deep permanent content but the whole Nexon fiasco caused them to switch focus to temporary events every 2 weeks.
Sad what happened to a game with so much potential, I just hope Nexon will not have the power to influence Wildstar or Blade & Soul in any way.

Listen. Two months from now will be about a year and a half from release. A year and a half after GW1 release, we already had Factions and Nightfall. That’s two new continents, four new classes, two new skillsets for all classes, new PvP modes, two entirely new stories, multiple elite dungeons, and bunches of other things. At near the same point in GW2 we’ve got…Southsun? Fractals? Temporary content? Did you guys set the bar too high last time or what?

In two months we’d better be sailing ships into Cantha. Zhaitan is dead; the path is open. Let’s go already.

Don,t remind me. How did a dev so based like Anet that was so dynamic back in the first year and half of Guild Wars 1, into a dev of a game that don’t feel like moving forward at all, with all it’s temporary content, with most of it’s new weapons and armors being cash shop only, with still no light at the end of the balance tunnel.

The game right now is centered around RNG, farming, zergfest, dailies and the cash shop with no fun allowed to a disgusting level.

I think the problem is that when gw2 launched Nexon took over 15% of NCsoft and Anet hired a former Nexon employee with no experience or passion whatsoever in the GW franchise and appointed him/her to a high level monetary/design position which probably caused a big shift in the dev team and some original gw2 devs to leave.
I think Anet was originally intending to deliver GW1 style expansions every 6 months or so which would have contained a lot of deep permanent content but the whole Nexon fiasco caused them to switch focus to temporary events every 2 weeks.
Sad what happened to a game with so much potential, I just hope Nexon will not have the power to influence Wildstar or Blade & Soul in any way.

Ooohhh, so they put a FTP games company in charge over the cash shop? ok i just lost every hope i had

Not sure if it was Anets own intention or if they were forced to by NCsoft.
anyway I think sadly the Nexon influence will only get deeper from now on.

I suspect we will see more polish done to the core game rather than truly new features.

  • The next/final phase of sPvP rewards revamp, possibly some kind of skin locker thing tied to it (although I suspect the locker will strongly favour the cash shop).
  • Precursor crafting/new legendary weapons and/or trinkets.
  • If it hasn’t been released by then, Edge of the Mists (and possibly the new sPvP maps and/or WvW masteries).

Brainstorming random things they could add:

  • Mini pet locker. Inventory slot for an active mini pet.
  • Pet battles.
  • New utility skills or elites.

I’d like to see something unexpected and out of the blue, like fishing. That would be a new feature with some meat to it, something totally new offering new gameplay and not just a tweak to existing gameplay. There’s only so much they can polish the older content before you get tired of running it, regardless of how many tweaks they make to the encounters or the rewards.

At this point we cant expect anything… this game has as much ignored complains now as diablo 3 had.. the diference is that we all expected sooo MUCH from this game….and i still dont understend why they changed completly the direction of this game ….

i dont think.. many have any hopes anymore.. its pretty obvious we will keep getting more of the same … LIVING STORY…………………………………………. and recycled content

We need some UI customization.

I know that I haven’t killed Zhaitan. I will never kill Zhaitan. I don’t need a constant reminder of my failings, mocking me from the top-right corner of my screen.

  • GW1 UI: you can customize practically every part of it.
  • GW2 UI: you can customize practically none of it.

Why?

Because they probably didn’t have it done in time for their obviously rushed release and they can’t get away with selling it in the gem store because we just don’t get QoL updates without them being gemstore items. * cough stackincrease/upgraderemoval cough *

They throw away Trinity but now we’re all Berserker. They said no vertical progression and we’re now forced to farm for ascended(even for WvsW, bad choice guys, bad choice…). They said living world…and i see ONE map full of bots and afk ppl, tons of overflows of that same map, and the rest of the world is a desert.

This game had NOTHING special…not so-good, not so-bad, but it’s really nothing compared to GW1, who struggled to rise during ‘’Wow domination’‘, that was the only real ’’Guild Wars’’ game!

It’s honestly about where it was when I stopped playing back in 2010 or so. Most of the areas are ghost towns but you can still find plenty in the market hubs spamming WTB/WTS and it seems like they still occasionally update it.

How long will it take me to get some of these nice skins and titles?

The HoM ones? Some are easy to get like the ones for completing the campaigns or the hero statue one. The armor one isn’t too hard to get if you grind the money since mats can be gotten pretty easily and the cheaper elite armor works just as good. The hardest ones are going to be the weapon and minipet monument because the weaps are very expensive and I don’t know how much of a market there is for minis so long after GW2 launched.

I have everything unlocked just up to the tier that gives you the spider with only one weapon in the monument so it’s not impossible but it takes a while.

Well this was a buzzkill. I just started playing GW2, and even though I’m late to the party, I’m loving it! How can people hate on it this much? I pretty much despise WoW so I’m not sure how people are saying they might go back to WoW, the least interactive, least immersive, most gear based, calculator combat ever invented. The combat, the questing system, are all far better here in my rookie humble opinion.
I’ll admit that I never really got into GW1, but from my limited experience with it, it was entirely instanced right? No open world filled with other players, if you left town at all it was an instance. Anyways, I like this much better.

Welcome to the forums. If you where here a year ago you would have said pretty much the same thing, there is a really depressing group that always complains about pretty much the same thing over and over. They then blame everyone else and sit smug in their knowledge that they could design and run any game anywhere better than anyone else.

If they add new weapon and utility skills (not one by one but in good packs) maybe I’ll not leave the game in a few months. Until then, it’s been more than one year people played with the same skills over and over. People get tired fast and no wonder people are looking at other MMOs if they’re stuck with very few ways to play their class (we are soon in 2014… seriously).

Guild Wars 1 worked well because it had the “deck building” thing, which made people always looking on how to improve their build. Also it had build diversity, a thing that is really lacking in Guild Wars 2 and it’s a shame for a “Guild Wars” game

The new “features” in the feature updates will be things we need to buy in the gemstore. That is the trend. Sure the updates are “free” but if you want the things in the updates you need to pay.

I wouldn’t get my hopes up at this point. They are in a holding pattern until Wildstar releases and then they can slowly forgot this game.

Some tangible updates will get me playing GW2 again. Stuff like guild halls and housing wouldn’t really do it. I’ve always hated housing systems like in LOTRO.

By tangible I mean permanent new story areas, new professions, new weapons, new abilities, ect. You know, the kind of stuff that you typically see in an expansion.

The one thing that needs to be done as soon as possible is some kind of counter-measure against ever increasing precursor prices.
I remember an official ArenaNet statement that came after a row of complaints over exploding prices basically, saying that they’d monitor the prices closely and take action as they deem fit. That was back in the days, when Dusk went for about 250 gold. Now, more than a year later, Dusk is on the TP for 800+ gold and nothing has been done against it.
I don’t expect it to happen in the next patch, but it really needs to happen sooner, rather than later.

You mean back when you had to actually do content and work a little bit for income? What they did to counter it is, basically, make it rain gold from the sky. O.o I mean really…the Queensdale champ farm…any idiot can buy the game, level to 5, and then be leveling AND maintaining a very steady flow of income with minimal effort. A brand new lvl 15 player making a steady 5-10g/day in a starter zone is terrible for a game’s economy and makes end-game farming/content trivial and useless for those trying to accrue any wealth in a ‘standard’ (reasonable IMO) traditional sense. Short of being unconscious, players have gold literally thrown at them after initially starting the game, not even a full hour into the game’s content. I don’t understand how I could be one of only very few who sees/understands this viscious cycle. We’ve created a ‘trophy for participation’ dumbed-down community/game and only serious changes to the problem-reaction-solution mess that’s been established, will do anything to reverse these trends. The ONLY reason it’s not a LOT worse than it currently is is b/c a lot of people have left temporarilly reducing demand for a lot of things while supply was still reasonably decent. Since, ascended armor launched, that leeway was gobbled up and thus markets went skyward. It’s really simple to see.

I personally don’t champ farm as I find it boring, I will maybe kill 3 or 4 before moving on ( dailies etc ) and at that I usually use FGS champs, sad thing is if the drops where not so screwed up in this game people wouldn’t resort to it, I mean like the other day I ran a lvl 28 Fractal, not a single rare or exotic, yet if I had ran the champ train for the same time as I took to do the Fractal, I would have walked away with gold/mats/rares/and maybe an exotic,

If they DONT get there loot tables sorted out more and more people will go to these farms, imagine a new player starting the game entering queensdale and being told by 40 people that the only way to make money/loot is to do this farm, as there is no other drops. ( and there not far wrong )

The game is in a sad state.

Well I haven’t read the whole thread but I feel like most of what I would like has already been requested. But here they are anyway

1. I want Scarlet to disappear. Like really. I’m not hating on anyone or anything but I just am personally pretty disappointed with her and her story in general. I love GW for the lore and I feel like she just doesn’t live up to or feel like she is connected to any of the lore. I am pretty neutral on LS I just want LS to be connected to dragons or GW lore or even pre GW1 stuff like Giants and the Forgotten and Murssat I mean I feel like there is sooooo much potential for ancient tombs or something we could explore and discover more clues to things that were left vague in GW.

2. Access to Crystal Desert and Magumma Wastes. Please Please Please,

3. New weapons options for professions or access to other weapons. Like I think a Mesmer with an ax could be really cool (iwarden looks like it has a lot of fun with it)

4. Medium armor that isn’t revealing tons or skin or a trench/duster coat!!! I can’t even count how many long coats we have for medium armor and the few other options are all like showing the stomach or really short skirts. (I realize this is a personal opinion but I just really wish we had more variety here)

Also thanks again for the Wallet and LFG those have been great and very helpful.

What I want =/= what I expect.

I want:

more skills
more weapon options
more armors available thru playing and not gem store/500 crafting/fractal 50
less gear grind
bugs fixed, especially the ones that’ve been around since launch
more personal storyline
more dragons
new zones (ie – Cantha, Elona, Fire Islands, Charr homeland)

I expect:

more temporary content every 2 weeks
more weapon skins from RNG tickets
more armor from gem store
more bugs without fixes

The problem is that GW2 is the mmo for people who hate mmo’s, or even really having to play a game at all.

If they suddenly woke up and switched money making to hard dungeon paths and high fractals instead of their silly rail shooter zergathon people would kitten a brick and cry on the forums till anet changed it back.

If anet wasn’t so interested in placating the lowest common denominator with a loose wallet and a gambling addiction we’d actually have the GW1 with a Y axis they envisioned rather than the “Same Great grind, less content WoWlite!” that they seem to keep pushing the game towards.

I hope they will fix old bugs before they do anything new…
There is too much bugs, and with every new thing they add.. The bugs are growing…
When will they ever start fixing bugs that are old 1 year….
