Figured maybe I’m missing something in the new UI. Anyone know how I can get less than 400 gems from the gold->gems exchange? I just wanna get 200 so I can get the devil horns. :P

This makes no sense to me, it worked fine before. I won’t enjoy for ever not being able to get the exact amount I need/fill in the rest. I can understand for plastic retail cards, but for pure digital?

Edit: The new Gem/Gold Exchange only have set options for 400,800,1200, etc

Edit 2: I can see the advantages of this new system as well, it’s faster if you don’t care or it happens to line up nice. Although I see no reason why we can’t have both.

If I want 100 gems I want 100 gems.

PLS remove this CRAP!

Edit: I want 4 things added:
1: I want the precise conversion rate added
2: I want to be able to choose the exact amount both in gems and gold.
3: I want the graph back
4: I want A-Net to treat me like an adult, being 40 yrs old I guess I’m entitled to it

and for all I care you keep the new screen for the ‘not so smart’, but I -HATE- it.

So I wasn’t just missing something. Another case of making quality of life worst with an update.

I’m confused on what you are talking about? Could you elaborate please? I bought Gems the other day and it was the same options its been?

The whole point of gems was being able to get the exact amount you needed. This new system is just awful and means people will have a hard time using all their remaining gems

Improvements
New Currency Exchange UI:
The Currency Exchange UI has been overhauled to be quicker to use and easier to understand.
Quick exchange options for both currencies are now visible on the front page of the Currency Exchange.
The comparison between Exchange for Gold and Exchange for Gems prices is much more obvious.
Fixed exchange amounts have been set to simplify the exchange process and remove confusing rounding points.
Added a preview of new balances.
Added an improved confirmation UI.

This is really stupidy idea… I smell incoming alot of angry ppl (and possilby leavers to other mmo)

Bring back manual exchange gem store!

Not a fan of this either. When I buy gems it’s an amount I need or a percent of my daily income. A set amount is too rigid and unwanted.

Yikes. It’s kind of pooey. I tried to click the gem/gold icon to see if that brought me to a screen where I could convert manually. It did not.

Stuff like this is why I’ve begun dreading patch day. It seems like Arena Net doesn’t want me to play anymore.

Had been debating if I was going to spend cash or exchange for Courtier outfit since that_shaman’s preview. But instead Anet found the point I am unwilling to spend money on this game anymore.

This is completely unacceptable. How did this even get approved?

There’s been more than a few times when I’ve used the exchange to get just 100 gems to be able to afford something. With all the odd/varying prices, we need options in buying amounts of gems.

It’s bad enough that we are stuck with a minimum real cash purchase of $10, now this has spread into the exchange too.

Oh hum. So strange. I don’t mind the simplification but the amounts are very odd. =/ There should be a 100gem increment at least.

Changes to the game like this is the reason I find myself playing less and less. Anet just don’t get it… and I’m having my doubts they ever will.~sigh~

This is the new Exchange UI; you can’t put in a custom amount anymore, you can’t see how much gold you get for 100 gems (because you have to at minimum trade 400 gems now). There are also no more charts that show the history of prices over the past 1-2 weeks.

At least if the minimum amount of gold to gems was 200 I could be okay with this.
But no, it’s 400.
Also removing the fluctuation graph and averages, like why.
Oh wait, I know, so people lazy to check on external sites won’t see the average and will buy for kittenty rates, making them perhaps spend more in the long run.
Good job on making such a blatant, forced grab for money.

anet please understand that blatant attempts to force us to buy more gems than we need will be met with nothing but animosity from your player base. PLEASE ALLOW US MORE OPTIONS WHEN BUYING GEMS (with gold or $$$).

I’ve been looking for this post because I wanted to post much the same. My thoughts are as follows.

1) Revert to old system.
Failing this, there are some others.
2) Add more increment options, 100, 200, and 600, for Gold to Gems,
3) Add a slider with small increments, around 25 gems, for Gems to gold.
3)Add a way to bring up the old system while keeping the new system there.

Since I don’t buy gems to turn into gold, I have no opinions on outlooks on that side. Only Gold to Gems.

Ok, that’s plain unacceptable. Let’s just forget it if I wanted anything small.

This new change is really stupid.

I usually use 2g a day for whatever amount of gem I can get. Just some small investment daily. Now I cant anymore.

I dont know what was on their mind about this.

And no more chart to see how price changed.

The new currency exchange WOULD be fine, if it was a new sub tab. Adding the quick exchange is cool and all, but it forces players to convert 70-80g to 400 gems just to buy a booster, phantom hood, or a Foil-Wrapped Candy… How do we know if we are buying gems during the peak or not? Oh right, we can’t because the price graph is gone…

I fail to see why Gems have to be purchased only in certain increments — either by cash or gold. It’s not rocket science.

I just want more options. 100 gem Increments PLEASE. I often only need 100 or 200 more gems for something I want in the store. Having to earn significantly MORE money and have useless left over gems is not my idea of a good plan. I don’t mind the change overall I actually like seen the numbers out right so I know exactly what I am spending, but I would love more options.

They are trying to get people to buy gems with RL money so they convert it into ingame gold. Didnt thought Anet would get desperated that fast to press the last money out of the customers.
