Linux build
Since it is a Direct X game, I doubt there will be a direct port to Linux.
I haven’t had too much difficulty running it Ubuntu 13.10?. I was using Play on linux as the front end for wine, and didn’t have over heating, or slow issues. But I did have a wierd graphic anomoly, kinda like a “fog of war” look to it. But other than that I was getting better frame rates than in windows (was dual booting ubuntu)

OSX users do not have a native port, so I don’t see why they would create one for Linux. They’ve been officially supporting the game on OSX running through a cider wrapper (aka wine) since close to launch, if they were willing to make a native Linux port of the game then they would first make a native OSX port…
(Also I think you’re grossly overestimating how popular steamOS/steambox will be – GW2 is aimed at a more casual MMO audience, that’s not really something that steamOS caters to.)
I dont think I overestimate SteamOS, already now alot people wants too see linux as the new gaming OS, since it does not take as mutch reasources as a windows machine. And with AMD mantle being ported too steamOS it will make games run even better on worse hardware, that is something many are asking for, a real gaming machine catered to windows game are expensive.

I think you are. This game would port quicker to Xbox One than to Linux. Since Direct X is already supported by the Xbox and this game does not support Open GL (which is the only accelerated Graphics for Linux).
Mantle will not succeed as it is too close to what DX12 is already going to do and both AMD and NVidia are supporting DX12.
It is like NVidia’s PhysX support. Very few games use it and it slows down the game so much as to be useless.

Two years has passed and we still don’t have a dev reply. I still use Windows for two years only to play GW2. A port, even in beta stage, could be wonderful.
I’m waiting on a port as well.
Hopefully ANET considers it at some point.
Personally, I ain’t holding my breath for a few years. They probably want to see how SteamBox will do…
Ill vote for a linux port. While it’s a bit more complicated then the average OS like windows. It’s more secure and Micro$oft can’t extort us into their new operating systems with the new direct X versions.

Sadly, the marketshare is bigger on the Windows side of gaming in PC category of course.
Considering that OSX version is still in beta stage, should tell you something. I wouldn’t count on it ever going to Linux.
