Losing interest.
The issues you are adressing are being discussed and have been dicussed over and over. This is an mmo and not a single player rpg. Thief has been considered too OP many times. You can argue that Anet should have been warned, the thief is basicly the sin in gw1 and it was OP there too.
My main point however is that in a game like this there should be balance between classes. When a game is released, there is no way of knowing what the community comes up with regarding to builds. The have several 100’s of people employed. but we got the resources of million’s of players. they don’t stand a change when it comes to balance and have to wait for us what we throw at them. Getting a proper balance takes a lot of time and they are trying. but that means that people get annoyed by the ‘fixes’.
Yes the PvE living world is much easier to update, but dont expect wonders if the put all that effort into fixing pvp builds. in the end it takes time to see what we find out to do with the changes and to fix that.

I can imagine why he thinks like that though. and without being rude or use harsh words. I can see why people think like this. i hope they will change something in pve. i would like to see the personal story really personal now. and events really matter without doing the same over and over again and have no real impact on the world. wich was actually promised when the game released. so not an fantasy from me. Plus i do hope they put it in like this we can really lose an piece of the world because people dont defend it. not like how it is now. now its more like you lose a bit but they never press on. they stay in that area. i would want to see that they actually can press on till the capaital cities if noone defend the capital. or that you actually can make and city with your guild and is presistent in the gw2 world. buy mercenaries to defend your home. talking about home house is pretty much overdue. and as i mentioned before the rewardsystem should be different. now the harder bosses arent being done anymore. reason why is they drop about the same loot as the easier ones. so if you down an hard boss you get something that only drops from that boss. like an nice piece of gear or weapon. people would want to have that and actually want to down it.
load of people really like the hard bosses but if there is no difference in rewards people will stop doing that. its human nature. The Thief should be renamed to assasin, because that is what it is. thief is not imo the right name. you guys from anet had it right the first time assasin is the correct name.
I preferred quaggan island to the bloodlust area as well!
Anyway, instead of EoTM, Anet should have spent the time on a new EB map as well as a new BL map and put them into rotation with the old ones. That’d have really revitalized WvW while using the same dev resources as EoTM.
They are monetizing much of the PvE or better RPG element of the game. Gold grind gold grind gold grind and temporary achievements grind.
But heey you can buy gold with gems..
To bad that the game was aimed at casual gamers but it seems to be mainly aimed at there wallets, not by giving them the more casual game-play elements. Thats exactly what they took away.
If you want my money just give me the full game without tricks (gold = everything because of world loot and cash-shop) making the game less fun. You want my money, then sell me an expansion every year / year and a half. Then I might be willing to give you some money.
But I am not going to spend anything in the gem-store that is helping to make this game worse.

OP, it’s time for a break from gw2. Go play some other MMO for a few months. It’ll help a lot with interest in gw2. Especially combat mechanics.

That’s actually very true. There have been a couple of times when I’ve done this and I always come screaming back to GW2.
I don’t play other mmorpgs, I play SimCity, dota2 and I used to play sc2 until it died.

The mechanics of Sim City and Guild Wars 2 are vastly different. I think I found your disconnect. When learning a new game with new mechanics, I can understand why some people have a hard time.
I’ve been playing gw2 for over a year.
